Even in his henge cat form, Sanosuke could feel coldness sweep through his fur not really helping with the unsettling feeling he had with what was right before him. Thunder clapped from a distance making the atmosphere have him more on edge. His paws was creating an abundance of sweat between them as Sanosuke tried to calm himself down. A harsh wind threatened to knock his very center of balance was he not careful. There was definitely evil in the air as Sanosuke fought the curling irons in his stomach so he wouldn't bolt off. In front of Sanosuke was an ancient, abandoned run of the mill academy that looked to have been on this very piece of land since the beginning of time. The gates honestly looked like if anyone would lay a finger on it just to brush the pound of collective dust on it, would cause for the entire chair to disintegrate to dust itself. But they would be swing open and closed every one and a while from the breeze that was picking it. Grime and dirt was all over the walls of the house, its paint was peeling off and left the strong scent of mildew that almost made Sanosuke want to vomit in his mouth. He cursed his sharp senses for that because he could pick up those scents from that far away with ease.

He wondered why he was here in the first place....

flashback(14 hours prior):

Sanosuke was sitting in his office at home using one of the few phones that existed in the village to talk to Amy from his office. She called regarding an urgent mission that was requested to be done. It would require traveling that is to said location. The only reason why he wasn't in his office at the Administration Building was because he was dealing with a situation on his own. Or should he say situations. One of them was right in front of him reading a Sun Tsu's Book of War. A boy with short cropped silver hair and bright blue eyes were scanning the pages rather quickly as he was turning the pages alarmingly quickly. He had on a black turtleneck sweater and blue pants on. His feet was kicked up on the footrest he had in his office. The boy made eye contact with Sanosuke and immediately cast his eyes downward towards his book. That situation was his children from an alternative timeline 17 years in the future.

They had come to warn him and Gin, the children's mother, of a terrible future that they hoped to change. The idea of Gin and himself getting married was something too surreal for him to picture. And they had kids? If someone told him that on the streets he'd probably laugh at them before kicking their head through a wall for suggesting such a stupid idea. But it was going to happen. According to his son, Kohaku, the time traveling technique once completed would take time for it to wear off and send them back to their timeline with hopes the future did change. Until then they were living with Gin and Sanosuke at the Raikage Estate along with Gin's other kids. Ushio, his firstborn daughter, has done nothing but loaf around the house either sleeping or eating snacks. And on occasion talking with the other children. While Kohaku has been more secluded and even though he treated Sanosuke with such disdain, he didn't leave his side and would always be with him in his office while he's at work.

That would explain why he's not at his main office currently. Wearing a silver long sleeved shirt with the sleeves pulled up that had the words "oppai" on it, Sanosuke was wearing black pants and had the phone close to his ear while using his chakra to shift through the files he had Ushio come out the house to get. It was just an annoyance that he was stuck babysitting kids that he didn't even know he had yet. But it wasn't all bad considering that meeting his own kids was also an honor to him. They were both strong and talented. Deep down inside he was proud that he would be their father later in the future. That was if he survived that long.

The mission that was they had gotten to be done was something about a haunted academy. The very idea of the mission sent chills throughout his body. He hated those kinds of missions. Being very superstitious Sanosuke wanted nothing to do with evil spirits that may exist at the house. Squeezing the bridge of his nose, Sanosuke tried to compose himself and ignore the sweatdrop from the back of his head. It was a mission that had to get done but maybe he could get one of his shinobi to handle it. "Can't Kenji take this mission?" Sanosuke proposed.

"He's taken a sick leave. His wife is expecting."

Sucking his teeth, Sanosuke thought more about other shinobi. "Han?"

"On a diplomatic mission with Sero of Kiri to cement ties between us and the mist."

"Zennyo?"

"Doing recon with a squad of ANBU in parts of Hi no Kuni?"

"Kaekio?"

"She's taken the day off."

Those were all of the shinobi that he knew could take care of the mission with ease. Sanosuke felt trapped. That meant that he would have to do the mission himself since none of his known shinobi could do it. At this point, Sanosuke saw that Kohaku had taken an interest in his father's conversation with his assistant over the phone and was listening in. Kohaku put his book down, stretched his back before calmly walking out of the office. No doubt he was going to tell his mother about the mission Sanosuke was about to go on. And Gin was always looking to make a quick buck. Of course she'd jump at this opportunity to tag along. She'd drag Ushio to come with her and Kohaku would go just because he had something to do. Sanosuke reached his hand out towards Kohaku as he left. It was him pleading not to tell Gin but his message was only met with a sneer that looked all too familiar.

Just like that he was sentenced to go to this cursed mission along with his...family against his will. Perfect.

(end flashback)

"Don't tell me you're frightened father." Kohaku eyed his father looking very disappointed that his father was showing such cowardly traits as the Raikage. He was dressed in his shinobi outfit(an outfit similar to Vegeta's in Resurection of F but without gloves). He had a single silver gauntlet on his left hand that would activate his armor and his sword Soul Cutter was on his back.

His words caused Sanosuke to develop a tick mark on his head as was irritated that his son would call him a coward to his face. "Shu-shut up damn it! I'm not scared!" Sanosuke stammered while trying to keep calm. But it was hard for him to believe his words when he was atop of Gin's shoulder gripping onto her automail arm as tight as he could so she couldn't simply pull him off despite her strength. In terms of strength, Sanosuke and Gin were even when she used her normal arm. So he wasn't going to be letting go any time soon. Another thunder clap sounded off but this time a lot closer and caused for Sanosuke to grip tighter onto Gin to hold down his scream that almost came out.

Why did he have to be the one to go on this mission?

Gin was quite exited. Now, she wouldn't say that she was ecstatic, but she couldn't exactly keep the devious grin from clearly showing on her features. The fact that Sanosuke was so uneasy about this whole ordeal made the situation that much better. Try as he might to hide it, Gin could still see the slight shaking in his skinny legs and tiny paws. She was sure the children could too. By now, she knew well enough that Ushio simply wouldn't care and would be much more absorbed either in her snacks or looking for a good place to sleep while Kohaku would pretend not to care and look down at his (future?) father with a sort of contempt. She could tell by the slight twinkle in his eyes and the odd beat of his step that he was happy to finally have something that his father failed at that he was capable of doing. Watching the two of them interact was rather amusing. Gin had yet to confront the boy about why it was, exactly, that he hated the idea of his father so much. So far, she only knew that he had died early on in his youth - right after he was born - leaving Gin on her own to care for the family. Maybe that in and of itself was reason enough to warrant his hatred.

When she heard that for the first time, Gin was shocked. A single thought looped in her mind, repeating over and over. Not again, not again, not again. No matter how hard she tried to seem composed, she had found it hard to stand up straight and breathe properly. She had had time now to digest the news and was determined to prevent it from happening. Well, that was the entire purpose of Ushio and Kohaku being here, after all. The entire experience was still surreal and difficult to process. She and Sanosuke would eventually get married. At the moment, Gin couldn't imagine anything more dreadful and had trouble understanding how that would come to pass. Sure, she cared about him deeply and would likely do anything to see him well and happy, but at the same time, they could hardly stand to be in the same room together for more than an hour before trying to rip out each other's throats. According to Ushio, in the future, they got along far better, though they still got into their fair share of competitions and arguments.

The former Kazekage wondered if scenery like this would promote such a thing. Maybe Gin would become protective of Sanosuke. Maybe this is how things started to change in this timeline. She doubted it, but it made as much sense as anything else that had happened in the past few weeks. After all, they were going demon hunting right now in a haunted school where a bunch of kids had been murdered brutally, according to the warning flyer that the people from the next town over had given them. Gin inspected it one more time. It had very crude - as in low quality - drawings of what they might expect inside as well as the words "Avoid at all costs" written on almost every side. Well, she supposed it served its purpose to prevent unskilled and curious villagers from trying to take this onto themselves. These sorts of things were best left to experienced shinobi, such as themselves. The silver haired woman had been all too happy to accept the mission on the Raikage's behalf. She had even arranged for everyone else of notable rank to be occupied at the time.

The young woman had bribed - actually blackmailed - one of the more prominent doctors in Kumogakure to place Kenji's wife on bed rest and to insist that her husband be there to watch over her.

She had then gone on to assign Han his next mission a week early in order to get him out of the way.

She had done the same for Zennyo.

As for Kaekio, who would have thought that she and Nozomi would suddenly find tickets to one of the most coveted and sold out shows in all of the village followed by reservations at its most exclusive restaurant and a free vacation to the hot springs for a week?

That was why the family had decided to make this a field trip. Or rather, Gin had decided and had made the rest of them follow. Only Kohaku did so completely out of his own free will and she was grateful for that. Also, the fact that this was at a school gave her an excuse to wear a schoolgirl uniform - a dark blue blazer over a white button down shirt that was open far enough to show a decent amount of cleavage with a loose red tie over that. The short skirt she wore was white and would have displayed most of her legs had it not been for the thigh-high black stockings that she wore with her loafers. Really, she had always wanted to wear one of these. They were like the uniforms rich noble kids wore to high school at the capital cities throughout the continent. This was also a part of her wonderful mood. Not even the fact that Sanosuke had a vice grip on her prosthetic arm would put a damper on that. It was worth noting that, had it been a real arm, he would have cut off her circulation a long while ago.

"You know, I could very easily just snap the latch and you'd just be holding a limp arm. I could even replace it with Devilbringer," Gin said to him, her voice quite chipper. At this, Kohaku chuckled at his father's expense. Ushio simply yawned.

"Hey mom, I can take a nap when we get inside, just like you said, right?" The young girl said, not bothering to swallow her mouthful of chips before speaking.

"Manners, Ushio, dear," Gin reminded her, but her heart wasn't really in the reprimand.

"My question still stands," Ushio pressed.

"Sure, you can sleep, but I'm waking you up the second we need your help," Gin reminded her daughter. It was the conclusion they had arrived at after about an hour of arguing in circles on their way to the haunted village. Her daughter just rolled her eyes, but accepted it all the same.

Gin had to admit that her choice of wardrobe was very in line with what Gin would have worn at her age. It was protective armor, or so the girl said. It barely covered her breasts and her stomach was completely exposed. Her legs were mostly covered by a thin purple cloth with a sort of skirt on top made out of plates of metal. Of course, this was accompanied by matching gauntlets and boots. Gin had been able to tell from the start that Sanosuke hardly approved.

They were at the gates of the school now. It was a decrepit building that was barely standing. Most of its windows were either broken or boarded up with rotting pieces of wood. A deep breath was all it took for Gin to sense the smell of blood in the air. It matched perfectly with the clapping thunder and grim atmosphere in the background. "Shall we?" She asked, mostly as a formality, before heading inside the school grounds.
