Clan:Jūgo Clan

Kekkei Genkai: Zoanthropy

Elements: Doton

Specialization: 仙術 Senjutsu

Location: 浪人 Ronin (Jūgo clan members may not begin as members of any village.)

Clan History:
Men of the Wild:
Men of the Wild

In the beginning, nature ruled all. Forests towered higih as mountains, and the seas teemed with exotic life. Man and beast lived side by side, sometimes in competition, and other times in friendship. The circle of life was unbroken, and all were born, all lived, and all died, only to be born again to continue in harmony with the planet as one. Spirits of the elements communed with and bred with man vibrant and terrible in their majesty, and spirits of the ancestors offered wise guidance to the living.

This was until the others came.

They were men, but somehow different from those that had dwelled in the primeval lands. They had forsaken the wilderness, and could no longer shift their bodies into other forms. These newcomers hunted not with their claws and teeth, but with bows and spears fashioned from metal, and their spirits and gods were strange and alien to this world. The first men took pity on the newcomers, and attempt to teach them, against their better judgement, how to be one with nature once more.

Some accepted the teachings, and began what would come to be known as Sage Schools, though many simply didn’t have the knack for doing what was so natural to those who called the wilderness their homes. However, as time went by, the newcomers grew greedy, taking more than they needed and cutting down forests and homes until nature was a fragile shell of its former self. The spirits of the elements and those of the great ancestors grew furious at the extreme avarice of the newcomers, with their black-smitheries belching smoke and pouring effluence into the streams and rivers. Upon the spirit’s command, a party of wise women went to speak with the Kages, instructing them to either cease their destructive activities and leave, or face the consequences.

The leaders of the summit laughed at what they thought was primitive nonsense, making rude and demeaning remarks at the technologically less advanced. When they were told there would be consequences, however, their visages became deathly serious, and the then Raikage had imprisoned them upon the request of the other Kage. The women were taken as his slaves and gifted to each of his sons as concubines, forced to use their shape-shifting talents to fulfil the princes’ perversions. When word spread that their message had been ignored, and their ambassadors enslaved, the people of the forests grew furious. One terrible night, they shifted into their monstrous forms, beings of war and destruction, and assaulted Kumogakure, sparing no one in a deluge of blood and death feasting upon the corpses of the fallen, and tearing down the hated factories that perverted their way of life.

The losses Kumo suffered were immense, but nothing compared to the massacre that followed. The Raikage, who had lost four of his seven sons to the attack, called the other Kage to his aid, and began a genocide against the people of the forest. This barely-precedented show of international unity overshadowed the genocidal nature of their activities, hunting down the propagandised demons and boogeymen, until all that was left was a meager population so few they were more endangered than their animal counterparts.
Men of the Dark:
Men of the Dark

The only Jūgo to fled did so to the darkest caves and the deepest forests, their hearts filled with hatred and sadness over what they had lost. They only convened in secret and in passing, keeping their existence hidden from the rest of the world even as they met and parted. In time, much of the more ‘civilised’ word, as they had come to know them as, had forgotten about their brief, if significantly devastating, existence. Their gifts, bestowed by nature and spirits, were shrugged off as myths, as the rest of the world progressed into a more technologically-dominant era. Passing mentions of their existence were meant as entertaining folklore of a people who never existed but should have, or as tales spun by parents who wanted more obedience from their offspring, telling tales of boogeymen who snuck off with irresponsible and disobedient children in the night.

The only man to look past these claims, believing there to be truth behind the inflated mythologicals that surrounded this fabled people. His incessant investigations into their existence, despite the people’s attempts to cover their tracks and remain hidden from the eyes of the world, allowed him to stumble upon a small group of them, no larger than four in number. The pseudo-family fought bravely, but against the mad scientist’s insane mind and even crazier physical abilities, they were easily taken down and brought to his lab as experiments, forced to fulfill their unwilling role as animals to be tested on.

Even if what was once an entire race of people were now tiny in number, meeting only rarely to talk and breed in secret, their flames of war still burned as brightly as when they had stormed Kumogakure. Laced with hatred that they were now hunted, with humanity seemingly refusing to even allow them their solace in seclusion, they attempted to fight back. The greatest fighters, the most fearsome warriors, and the most unstable of the kind were let loose upon the mad scientist in a vain attempt to halt his vicious and vile perversions of their culture, but only one of these great warriors returned, bleeding, in critical condition, and on death’s door. He only had time to deliver the tale of the mad scientist’s work of genius, and dread - the curse mark - before passing.

Now lived a people, who were not only small in number, but small in strength and small in hope. Any thoughts of safety were dashed. They were being hunted. Once proud, they had been beaten, and even in their defeat they were not allowed peace. The people were agitated. The people were growing fearful. The people were growing restless.

And worst of all, the people weren’t growing.
Men of the World:
Men of the World

Their image tainted and their grounds perverted by humanity, it seemed as if the clan was doomed to fail. The few people who roamed the lands didn’t find solace in living out their lives, as it was possible the next day would be their last, hunted as they were to be monsters born unto the world to do a madman’s bidding. The lack of peace in their lives did little to help them remain at one with nature, giving rise to further complications in their connection with the wild. It seemed as if the people’s future was doomed to extinction.

Or so it seemed.

Their saving grace came from an unexpected person: the madman himself. His craze led him into breeding the people he had marked, and breeding the Jugo that he had caught, in an attempt to exponentially increase the size of his army. The first, the son of two mad Jugo, grew with the uncanny ability to control his abilities. He was the scientist’s prized possession, his trump card, his secret weapon… and also his downfall.

The boy ran rampant, destroying his labs, taking down the few people who opposed him, while also releasing the other Jugo who lived through his vile experiments. Unfortunately, in this entire endeavour, the boy himself was lost with the lab, a six-year-old child who had an immeasurable mastery over the people’s abilities, unseen since the days of their prime. A boy who acted as the martyr for their clan, not old enough to read, but old enough to take down the man who had been overconfident with his success.

The remnants of this people began to roam once more, now no longer preyed on by humanity, with no targets painted on their backs. But, as free as they may have been, they still lugged around the chains of their past, no longer the race they once were, and no longer as welcoming or in control as they would have liked.

In the end, they were little more than the monsters they were once accused as.

Kekkei Genkai Description:

Zoanthropy
Members of the Jūgo clan have the innate affinity for nature chakra built into their very cells, though they lack the delicate and precise touch needed to control it. Their kekkei genkai gives them the ability to shape portions of their body into more beast-like forms. This includes blades, spikes, additional limbs, extra organs, and so on. Unfortunately, the effects of such abilities are similar to the effects that a curse mark has (being their source), trading such power at the cost of their sanity and freewill. The Jūgo clan are an aggressive bunch, and easily sparked into uncontrolled rampages, during which neither friend or foe is safe.
Berserk Mode:
Berserk Mode:
When a Jūgo overuses his innate abilities, he is negatively affected by the strain that it places on his mind and body. The Jūgo hence goes berserk, entering a mode known as the Berserk Mode. While in this form, Jūgo clan members turn into mindless beasts that lack nearly any and all ability to reason, relying purely on their emotional desires and instinctive responses. While in Berserk Mode:

  • The Jūgo will target the person closest to them, regardless of it is ally or enemy.

  • The Jūgo will suffer a varying change in their stats. They will receive a +1 to both Strength and Endurance, but suffer a -1 to Speed, Reaction Time, and Perception.

  • The Jūgo will be unable to use any jutsu other than jutsu that utilise their clan kekkei genkai. They are also limited to using kekkei genkai jutsu of their rank or less, with a maximum of A-rank. As such, an S-rank Jūgo may use a maximum of A-rank while berserk.

  • The Jūgo will not build up rage while using clan jutsu. Rage depletes at a constant rate of 3 counts per post.

The Jūgo clan member only exits Berserk Mode when their rage count drops to a minimum of zero. If they have 1 more count of Rage, they will have to wait another turn for 3 Rage to be deducted, leaving them with zero, before they regain control of their sanity.

Usage of the Jūgo clan’s kekkei genkai causes strain and damage to their body and mind, causing them to go berserk. For every kekkei genkai jutsu used or maintained every post, the Jūgo clan member gains a certain amount of Rage. Once the Rage count exceeds a certain threshold, they will enter Berserk Mode.

The number of Rage accumulated per jutsu, which increases indefinitely, varies on the jutsu’s rank as following:

  • E-rank: 1
  • D-rank: 2
  • C-rank: 3
  • B-rank: 4
  • A-rank: 5
  • S-rank: 6

Rage is computed upon the activation of a clan jutsu, not the completion of one. Using maintainable jutsu does not cause Rage to accumulate indefinitely per post; rather the cost is only accrued upon its activation.

The upper threshold for the amount of Rage a Jugo may withstand before they enter Berserk Mode varies on their own rank as following:

  • D-rank: 10
  • C-rank: 12
  • B-rank: 15
  • A-rank: 18
  • S-rank: 21
  • SS-rank: 25

For every post the Jūgo does not use any kekkei genkai jutsu, they will lose 3 counts of Rage, down to a minimum of zero. This decrease is disabled when Berserk Mode is on.

Jūgo clan members that have mastered control of their connection with nature chakra, however, are able to fine-tune the amount of nature chakra that flows into their jutsu to the point where usage of their kekkei genkai does not cause strain and damage to their body and mind. As such, while in Sage Mode, Jūgo clan members are able to use their kekkei genkai without accumulating any counts of Rage. Any Rage accumulated decreases to a minimum of zero at the rate stated above.

  • Abilities that make use of the transformations of their body are considered Senjutsu techniques.  As such, their abilities abide by the physics described by the Senjutsu guidelines. Such abilities interact with other jutsu of their rank as if they were one rank higher.

  • Jūgo clan members’ kekkei genkai abilities all require the use of Senjutsu. As such, all Jūgo clan members begin with Senjutsu as their tertiary specialisation, regardless of their starting rank.

  • Jūgo clan members are able to activate Senjutsu abilities without the use of Sage Mode. Due to the presence of Senjutsu in their arsenal, they receive a +20 to their chakra pool, but are unable to access the ability to regain chakra until they learn Sage Mode.

  • It has to be noted somewhere in the jutsu (i.e. Specialisation or Description) that a jutsu uses the clan's kekkei genkai.

Drawbacks:

  • Jūgo clan members have their primary, secondary, and tertiary specialities beginning at D-rank. Their Senjutsu specialisation, complying with tertiary specialisation requirements, may only be trained up to S-rank, and thus they may not learn kekkei genkai abilities of any higher than S-rank.

  • Kekkei genkai jutsu must be complemented by another appropriate specialisation (e.g. Senjutsu/Ninjutsu or Senjutsu/Taijutsu), as per the Senjutsu rules.

  • With no knowledge of the human body, Jūgo clan members are unable to form proper additional limbs or organs for extended periods of time. As such, in the absence of Medical Ninjutsu, clan jutsu that form additional limbs or organs will interact with other jutsu as if it were one rank lower, i.e. counteracting the boost from the Senjutsu component, due to their structural inaccuracy, as well as having a maximum duration of only 2 posts, including the post it was created.

  • Without Medical Ninjutsu, Jūgo clan members may also not create critical organs to replace the ones they have lost to avoid death, e.g. a second heart for the purpose of avoiding the destruction of the first, for whatever reason.

  • Destruction of the Jūgo clan member's transformations or additional limbs will also cause pain to the person unless specified otherwise, as it is by proxy destruction of the Jūgo clan member's own body.

  • Jūgo clan members receive +1 in damage from Raiton jutsu. Their kekkei genkai jutsu also act as if one rank lower when interacting with a Raiton jutsu.

  • Jūgo clan members are unable to learn a tertiary or quaternary element. They may not take the Hesitant (Element) negative Special Characteristic.

Rage Suppression Technique:
Name: Rage Suppression Technique
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: E
Type: Supplementary
Element: N/A
Range: Personal
Specialty: Kekkei Genkai
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 3 posts
Description: Jūgo clan members have, while not perfected, adapted a meditation technique to help them remain focused and calm in combat so as to not allow their rage to take over their senses in the worst of times. This jutsu is the result of years of study into the Jūgo physiology and psychology, and is the brainchild that allows Jūgo to remain in combat for extensive periods of time if absolutely necessary. This jutsu is taught to every Jūgo child for their safety and sanity, and is almost second nature once its concept is grasped even remotely. By adopting a chakra focusing technique in their minds, the Jūgo are able to reduce their rage by a certain amount, with the amount and the extra chakra cost (in addition to using this E-ranked jutsu) varying based on the ninja’s rank as follows:

  • D-rank: Reduction of 3 Rage, costs no additional chakra
  • C-rank: Reduction of 4 Rage, costs 5 additional chakra
  • B-rank: Reduction of 5 Rage, costs 10 additional chakra
  • A-rank: Reduction of 6 Rage, costs 15 additional chakra
  • S-rank: Reduction of 7 Rage, costs 20 additional chakra
  • SS-rank: Reduction of 8 Rage, costs 25 additional chakra

Jūgo clan members may only reduce their Rage count by the amount equivalent to their rank, not lower. Use of this clan jutsu still incurs Rage, i.e. 1 count.

Combat Transformation Technique:
Name: Combat Transformation Technique
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Element: N/A
Range: Personal
Specialty: Kekkei Genkai, Senjutsu, Taijutsu/Medical Ninjutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration + 5 posts
Description: The user channels nature chakra through their body, and transforms their body to a form better suited for combat. The user is able to induce transformations including but not limited to ridges, spikes, or firm blades out of their flesh sporadically all over their body to act as weapons, as their skin becomes a dark slate gray. They may make up to three such transformations using this one jutsu, each up to a foot long. Weapons made in this way can cause up to:

  • 1-inch deep cuts
  • Minor external bruising

Transformations made this way are able to be broken or destroyed when hit with 1 C-rank jutsu or 2 D-rank offensive jutsu each, causing the user the full extent of the damage by said jutsu after the destruction of the transformation. Hence, 1 D-rank fire jutsu does not burn the user when defended against with the transformation, but the second fire jutsu destroys the transformation and burns the user. All transformations must occur in the first post this jutsu is used. Throughout the course of this jutsu, no extra transformations may be formed using this jutsu, regardless if the limit of three transformations via this jutsu has been reached.

Flesh Recovery:
Name: Flesh Recovery
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Element: N/A
Range: Personal
Specialty: Kekkei Genkai, Senjutsu, Medical Ninjutsu (optional)
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: Once per thread
Description: Despite not having Medical Ninjutsu, the user is able to force a near-complete regeneration of wounds on their body through transformation of their body and cells. The injuries that may be recovered by this jutsu simultaneously include:

  • 3-inch cuts
  • Major internal bruising and broken bones
  • Minor 3rd degree tissue damage

If the user is in a transformed state, the user may also heal extensions of their body, restoring them to a point where it is as if they had just newly activated the ability. However, one limitation to this jutsu is that it may not be used to regrow or regenerate disembodied limbs. If the user has Medical Ninjutsu as a specialisation, this jutsu lasts for an additional one post, allowing them to constantly regenerate any damage taken within the two posts this is active. Completion of this jutsu results in the accumulation of an extra 2 counts of Rage.

This includes but is not limited to tails, wings, blades, or bastardised versions of their normal physique. Weapons caused by this technique are able to do up to the following:

  • 2½ inch cuts
  • Able to break bones with concussive force

Transformations made in this way are able to be broken or destroyed when hit with 1 A-rank jutsu, 2 B-rank jutsu, 3 C-rank jutsu, or 4 D-rank jutsu each, causing the user full extent of the damage by said jutsu after the destruction of the transformation. This is a revamp of the original Jūgo clan found here. It was done with Ayakashi's permission though I may have gotten carried away with some of the changes.

I can't remember all of the changes and edits I made to the clan, but I'll try to list them:

  • I added some symbols; the symbol for Zoanthropy was found online, but the others were recycled from the site; kanji added to Senjutsu and Ronin are likely correct

  • I expanded on the clan history based on what Ayakashi already had by giving them a bit more depth following their downfall (credits given)

  • I believe most of the pros and cons were kept from Ayakashi's initial depiction of the clan

  • I introduced what I believe was a nerf to the Jugo clan necessitating they have the required Specialisations to augment their fighting style, e.g. Bukijutsu for fully-functioning weapon transformations

  • I changed the weakness from Katon to a weakness from Raiton at Ayakashi's request (I believe); I had been trying to tie it in with the earth element somehow, but as earth itself is not used in the kekkei genkai I left it out

  • I expanded upon what it meant to 'lose control' by implementing a Berserk Mode, and nerfed the ability to spam Jūgo abilities by circumventing the 'used consecutively for 7 posts' wording by introducing the Rage system, which Aya and I briefly discussed

  • I removed the Minor Modification Technique as I believe it a negligible stepping stone in achieving the much more potent Combat Transformation Technique, which is but one rank higher and able to be attained at Genin rank as well

  • I replaced the Minor Modification Technique with the Rage Suppression Technique which essentially trades chakra to let Jūgo remain sane for longer (though I'll admit even I think it's pretty broken right now)

  • I updated some of the clan jutsu (not sure if it was necessary but some of it seemed quite broken with respect to the current stats system) so that they were either nerfed or clarified on what damage they could do, or what they could heal; I also made minor adjustments to buff clan jutsu, e.g. one/two more transformation(s) per jutsu

KKG

"Using their kekkei genkai, Jūgo clan members are able to make physical changes to their existing physique without the growth of additional limbs even despite the presence of Taijutsu specializations. This does not apply to the creation of weapons or extra limbs/organs."

Why is this here? Tai and med are interchangeable when it comes to this kkg, they would have to be one or the other in 99% of cases.

Your upper rage limits are 'so high' that they would never matter in any fight in any setting. and need to be bought down to a MAXIMUM of i would say 25 by those numbers.

"Beyond the Clan Jutsu, no other kekkei genkai jutsu may reduce the Jūgo clan member's Rage count." - remove this, it's unnecessary

I'd like you to add somewhere that KKG skills used dont require sage mode, but 'while in' sage mode they do not accumulate berserk, as the only reason why they go berserk, is cos they cant control the nature chakra they accumulate, sage mode would alleviate that. Otherwise, state they can't get sage mode, and put a B rank alternative for them somewhere. :)

Drawbacks:

"Jūgo clan members may not produce additional limbs or organs without the Medical Ninjutsu specialisation, otherwise the jutsu interacts with other jutsu as if it were one rank lower" - You say they can't then give a penalty for if they do. Which is a little off. I would just say additional limb techniques or organs using taijutsu in place of medical ninjutsu are -1 rank weaker due to their structural innacuracy and cannot have durations greater than 2. fix this please.

No, Jugo cannot learn a third OR fourth element, no hesitant, they are WAY too good with that much versatility.

Jutsu:

PLEASE spoiler these.

Specialty please just say Senjutsu + Tai OR Med, none of it is really buki, as it is not flowing chakra into an object. Or, just say KKG (Senjutsu) on them all, implying that all clan members can use these techniques.

1/ Numbers here need to be altered to reflect above.
2/ "All transformations made through this jutsu must be stated in full in the post this jutsu is used." - You effectively say this twice. Add a speed of growth please.
3/ Edit rage bonus
4/ damage needs to come down in line with jutsu guides.

I've made the necessary edits, but I have a question regarding the prominence of Bukijutsu. The reason I added the need for a Bukijutsu specialisation is because I believed it appropriate, since they may be wielding weapons that fall under the Bukijutsu sub-specialisations category. Even if they are not channeling chakra through a weapon, they need to know how to use a sword before they are able to swing their arms around as swords. Otherwise, I personally find it a small discrepancy that Jugo may alter their bodies to whatever form they wish, while non-Jugo are unable to wield weapons that fall under Bukijutsu without the specialisation. I've kept the Bukijutsu requirements for now, since I do believe it slightly unfair to others (even if slightly), though I did try to reword it. In a sense, this also confines them to a certain type of fighting-style different to each RPer, and hence cutting down on versatility?

I'm not sure what you want me to edit regarding the Rage count for the third clan jutsu. Is it to remove it entirely, since the jutsu itself already brings the person closer to going berserk?

For the fourth clan jutsu, the damages are in line with the Jutsu Rules. They are able to cut or pierce directly through an individual and shatter bones.
Jutsu Rules wrote:A Rank - Can cut or pierce directly through an individual, or shatter bones, or deal major 3rd-degree and possibly even 4th-degree tissue damage. The most powerful A-rank jutsu are fatal on direct impact, but larger-range techniques can still cause appreciable damage.

its max damage with tonnes of utility, lower it, you don't get max damage and a transformation of that caliber.

also, making a 3' blade out of your arm, is not the same as making a sword. Same with the Kaguya clan. you could make a tail and put a 2m bladed whip like tendril on the end and not need bukijutsu because its your body, not a weapon.

Im asking you to lower the rage number.

Damage reduced by approximately one rank.

Bukijutsu component removed. Changed to Taijutsu/Medical Ninjutsu for the Combat/War Transformation Technique.

Lowered from 4 to 2.

KKG
"Beyond the Clan Jutsu, all other kekkei genkai apped should have only one transformation per jutsu, at most two." - Completely comes down to the jutsu / jutsu mods and the rank of the jutsu, remove this as its not really needed.

Spoiler the berserk mode stuff please ^_^ from the centered berserk mode title to the second berserk mode bold, then place the spoiler under the second title, it makes WAY more sense to have all the numbers below the description.

Drawbacks:

"Jūgo clan members may also not create critical organs to replace the ones they have lost to avoid death, e.g. a second heart for the purpose of avoiding the destruction of the first, for whatever reason. " clarify 'without medical ninjutsu' in this sentence, as you're saying that they just can't do it.

please state in here somewhere that additional limbs / parts etc unless specify otherwise, cause pain to the user normally when destroyed. It's your body after all.

Jutsu
1/ fine
2/ damages way too high, bring them down. "C Rank - 1-1½ inch cuts, major external bruising (possibly able to fracture bone), or major 1st/minor 2nd degree tissue damage."
3/ fine
4/ better. Fine for now.

Removed.

Spoilered and moved under the second pointer under KKG.

Drawbacks:

Whoops. Clarified.

Added.

Jutsu

2/ Brought it down to 1-inch cuts and minor external bruising; thought the logic for 4/ applied to 2/, so I tried to find middle ground between D-rank and C-rank damage.

Added upon activation.

Also, I believe that the nature of the Rage mechanic works as such that every jutsu used every post accumulates Rage, rather than just per jutsu (to account for maintainable jutsu). I added a small part 'per jutsu per post' to clarify this, but if that wasn't what you had in mind I can go change it.

Bumping! :D
