Mission name: Attack Village Camps.
Mission rank: C-S.
Objective: Cause chaos by attacking village encampments.
Location: Border camps.
Reward: 2,000 + 5 EP. (+1,000 ryo from Criminal bonus.)
Mission Description: Rogue groups have hired willing ninja to attack border camps and disrupt village operations by causing chaos in their ranks.
Development References: What Lies Beneath Event.
Mission Details: Hired players will arrive at a border camp of their choosing and attack it as brutally or as merficully as they desire, it will be defended by at least one Shinobi of equal ninja rank with two chosen chakra natures and all Library techniques of their rank and lower. If this mission is done with another Player Character in opposition who is taking the Defend Village Camps mission, both participants may claim rewards for both missions as if they had completed them when handing in the reward for this mission and it counts as a mission of the highest rank the two of them could accomplish together.

Within the darkness of the cool night, a single white snake slithered through the sandy dunes of the desert, it's target was simple: a single weary shinobi on guard duty at one of the outposts created by Konohagakure's relief force. The mission details were simple for those awaiting the arrival of their commander: eliminate all life within the outpost and deliver a damaging if not crippling blow to Konoha's relief effort.

It was silent outside of the small compound, yet as the wind caressed the sand, a group of silent warriors gathered outside of the small camp's perimeter, a dozen pair of cold and ruthless eyes watching from afar as the aforementioned snake made its way towards its poor, unfortunate victim. The die had been cast and blood would flow that night, that much was a certainty.

As the winds suddenly whipped up some sand, the band of warriors now finally had their commander in their midst. A pair of cruel, golden snakelike eyes looked at each and every single one of them, a simple nod of this mysterious woman being enough for them to prepare for the assault. They wrapped their faces with black robes, made sure their garments fitted perfectly and made a last check on the weapons they carried. In the meantime, the leader would put on her helmet, lending her a terrible and fearsome visage of glossy ebony black and golden metallic hues as she walked towards the edge of the dune behind which the group had been waiting.

"There lies our target, a group of intruders and desecraters. They seek to bring order, but do we want it? Do we want their poisoned gifts and their pointless politics?" The woman sighed, her voice distorted through the helmet and the rebreather she wore, granting her an eerily raspy voice. Nonetheless her words held value and her power was real. In unison the men whispered and murmured, agreeing to her rejection of Konohagakure's futile efforts of aid, relief and assertion. "Tonight we will remove their presence, tonight we will let the rest of the world know that sunagakure belongs not to them, but to the people within the sands. It belongs to ME."

Then it happened, the first signal had been made, when the large white snake managed to slither close enough to the shinobi who was on guard duty, smothering the poor soul with its massive body and slowly constricting the man's body, eventually crushing it beyond recognition while the poor man's screams got muffled by his own collapsing lunges.

With a slow pace, the commander and her shadowy subordonates descended from their dune, like shadows cast by a single candle within an unlit room, they rushed through the darkness, descending upon the small encampment like a swarm of locusts. "Kill them all!!"

Glowing eyes observed the outpost dissolve into chaos from a distance, dark cloth clung to his features as a gentle breeze caressed the endless blankets of sand. He was an invisible silhouette against the starry night sky at the distance he stood, yet trained eyes watched unhindered by the dark mask shrouding his visage. He and those under his command had been given charge of the Konoha outpost, but their interest in it was little more than a front to lure out what lurked beneath the sands. The tiny outpost, surrounded by nothing substantial but sand, was just bait. Takao had expected Kumogakure shinobi to take that bait and descend upon the forward base, but a knot of snakes had found their way into the trap instead. Ultimately, it didn’t matter who attacked, or whom they claimed allegiance to. Hostility against the leaf was enough to spur his hand, and on this quiet night deep within the bowels of the Land of Wind, blood would stain the sands.

His right arm rose ever so slightly and signaled those awaiting his movements forward. Several figures approached without a hint of sound, dressed in identical black robes as he and coloured porcelain masks reminiscent of the Konohagakure ANBU. Trained operatives of his own take on ROOT stood at his either side, ready to descend upon the outpost being swarmed by the snakes of the sand.

“Take care of them.” His voice resounded through the filter of his own mask, twisting the deep timbre beyond naturally recognizable tones. “Damage to the outpost is negligible, focus on culling the intruders and protecting the outpost’s shinobi. Take prisoners only when the opportunity arises. Kill the rest.”

Their acknowledgment of the order was wordless, and one by one they descended into the shadows of night, slipping effortlessly across the sands. In mere seconds, they would join the fray at the outpost, and lend aid to the Konohagakure shinobi besieged by foreign invaders. For a moment longer did his gaze linger, glazed black eyes basking in the sight of chaos. This, he had decided, was what peace needed. Not talking, not reason, but action. Two sides would descend into chaos until one stood atop the corpses of the others and declared victory and peace. He had come to terms that the concept of peace was a temporary one, not unlike the pleasure of sweets. When one indulged, they would savour that pleasure, and it left them wanting more. The complacency of freedom from disturbance would be what lead to its end. Peace, he had determined, belonged not to who was wrong or right but to who was left.

Takao himself rose from his crouched position following the departure of his associates and slid across the desert sands without the slightest of sounds. The cloth that shrouded him saw to it that any sounds he made were muffled into non-existence.

When his advance came to a halt, he stood a respectable twenty meters or so from Lamya, and spoke loud to address her.

“Your transgressions against the Hidden Leaf will not be tolerated.” He spoke, voice maintaining its contorted sound through the mask. The shrouded figure tensed in anticipation, his muscles contracted and lungs inflated with bated breath.

“Retreat now or perish.”

Looking at the snakes she sent into the camp with some sort of pride, the woman slowly marched through the small encampment, though her eyes did catch onto the fact that the camp didn't only seem to hold the regular type of Konoha shinobi and whenever it seemed one regular shinobi had been overwhelmed by her men, a strangely dressed and masked shinobi appeared in their stead, engaging her men with an unusual and unforeseen ferocity. Their outfit seemed similar in more than one way to that of her subordinates and if looked at carefully, even much closer to her own, that is when not accounting for the more wealthy appearance and thus differently intimidating appeal of her own attire.

It was only when she had her attention drawn to a single shinobi standing atop of sandy dune not all too far away from her position, that the woman looked up. Her glossy helmet, adorened with the golden, skeletal looking rebreather underneath it gave her a rather terrifying appearance in the gloomy pale light of the desert moon. Within her sight, was now standing someone, who by no means was weak, who by all accounts could be called her equal if it came to his physical fortitude alone, but even so...she could only chuckle, amused by how the events had played out before her. Her men were engaging an uphill battle and even though her pet, with its own strength was enough to make short work of all except the most high class shinobi, she was still amused, greatly enthralled by the vision, the possibility of having someone standing in front of her who was worth fighting, worth facing...worth beating to a bloody pulp if necessary.

"You seem to be mistaken about something, you puppet of the leaf," The woman tilted her head slightly towards the left, letting out a soft chuckle. "What can a nation that doesn't even dictate it's own laws decide? What can it and what can't it tolerate when all it's tolerance is directed to being a good little slave to a nation they were once ought to oppose?"

Spreading her arms, the woman chuckle one more time. "Retreat or perish...such utter foolishness..."

Instantly, she got into a stance and motioned the strongest among his kin to come at her. "I won't be doing any retreating, so I guess you'll have to come and try to make me perish...little boy."

The ballad of combat being sung in the background consumed any semblance of silence the night desperately clawed at. Two forces staved away the cool night's serenity as they clashed. Each shrill clang of metal and how of pain made from the compound cut through the still night like a sharp knife. Deadlocked and even, it seemed as though neither side would gain the upper hand as a result of their own volition. The result, it seemed, would be determined by the victor of the bout that stood steadfast on the outskirts of the conflict.

Her words, as it would seem, fell upon deaf ears. No matter how much she would try to goad him, there was not so much as a twitch beneath the tenebrous cloak that shaded him in the midnight. Beneath the glossy mask, his face offered no tells of interest in her words either. To him, it was nothing but pointless, cheeky, and vacuous baiting.

“Very well.” He said, the remaining air in his lungs escaping the instant his words had been spoken. As the oxygen escaped his lungs, he flawlessly moulded chakra within it, and transformed the nature of his exhale into an attack. A powerful burst of wind and dust formed where his breath would have been, and jettisoned from within his body with imposing speed. His potent stream of breath slammed into the ground a meter from her feet and shot up toward her. The sheer speed of the technique gave her less than a half of a second's time to respond. Should it make contact, the dust would rend and mutilate whatever it touched.

But this action was not alone in the assault. As the powerful jet of wind collided with the sand in front of Lamya, it created a plume of the thick, coarse material. Having disguised his movements behind the natural cover provided by the roaring geyser, Takao's arm coiled within his cloak and shot forth three kunai. Attached to each was a tag, ready to be ignited at his call, yet they remained unburnt for the duration of their flight. The blades collided with the sand, and instead of going through, their momentum died. They fell with the sand, and were promptly buried, thoroughly hiding them from sight.

While the sand continued to settle, the helmed shinobi awaited to see what would remain standing. He fully expected her to remain, and prepared two shuriken in his left hand, poised to be thrown at Lamya the minute that he laid his eyes upon her. A breath inflated his lungs and lingered, his senses remaining on high alert. Had he not blocked it out, he might have even heard the sound of his own blood pumping through his body.

Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 25 meters
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description: Wind Release: Dust Cloud Technique is a technique that expels a stream of high-velocity wind and dust particles. To perform this technique, the user must form the Horse, Monkey and Bird hand signs, then overlap their hands in front of their mouth. They then breathe the wind and dust out in a straight line ahead of them with one burst moving at 40 m/s. A direct hit with this jutsu will leave a target covered in cuts up to 3 inches in depth and they will be mutilated beyond recognition if caught in the technique for one full post. Indirect hits will cause inch-deep cuts and minor bruising from the impact. Unlike most Fūton techniques, this attack can be seen as a rapidly moving dark grey field, due to its heavy dust content. The attack itself is relatively concentrated, being about as wide as the user's shoulders and as tall as their head. If the user's hands are moved out of position, this jutsu ends immediately.

So, it seemed that their forces were doing rather well, the Konoha shinobi and her own Ryujin were at a stalemate. For each Ryujin slain, an equal meassure of Konoha shinobi had fallen to the sand, drenching the desert in their blood. However, the real confrontation was between the Desert Snake and the mysterious leader of the encampment. Their conversation had reached a dead end, neither was seemingly willing to budge and thus it became a matter of who was going to fire the first shot, who was going to make the first move and be granted the advantage of initiative. Though she was ready to take said initiative, it became apparent that the stranger was the first to grasp it after all, using his higher position to his advantage.

A single blast of air whipped up the sands in front of her, forcing the rogue shinobi to jump a few meters backwards, covering herself with her arms, yet when she reached stability again and finally caught her bearings, lowering her arms rapidly, she could see a couple of kunai bursting through the whipped up wall of sand, each of them with a tag bound to and fluttering behind them. "Tsk, really?" The woman let out a sound of her breath escaping through clenched teeth, showing how annoyed she was by this rather common, yet undeniably smart tactic of lowering an opponent's field of vision before using some sort of projectile to use the cover of an earlier move to land a hit. She was even more annoyed by the fact that she had let the man take the initiative though, forcing her to go on the defensive from the get go, it truly was pathetic that she was constantly being forced into situations like these and usually due to her own hubris.

Quickly reaching into the pouches strapped onto the back of her hips, Lamya grabbed and threw an equal amount of kunai at each of the incoming projectiles, forcing their trajectory to change in order to have the explosion tags attached to them be set off away from her location, which given her own strength and that of her opponent clashing against one another in the form of kunai, should not have been that big of an issue. Still, she was annoyed as hell by this turn of events and with the sand starting to settle down again, the rogue shinobi aimed a finger towards the location where she perceived her opponent to be and fired off a single small bullet formed out of compressed air. Her intent was obviously not to killjust yet, but to draw out her opponent and to continue from there on out with the battle between them.

Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 30 metres
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: A technique where the user fires a barrage of condensed bullets of air. The user forms the bird hand seal, condensing their chakra into several pressurised spheres of wind that the user spits out in rapid succession towards the opponent. These air bullets are transparent spheres, and are roughly 4 inches in diameter. When fired, they travel at roughly 10 m/s. Direct impact by one of these spheres will knock the victim back a meter, tear through light clothing and cause 1-inch cuts at the point of contact. If a bullet passes near the target (within 4 inches from the edge of the bullet), it can leave small lacerations (1/4 inch cuts) on any exposed flesh it comes near. Three bullets are created upon activation, which must be fired in rapid succession. Each additional bullet costs -5 chakra each, with a maximum of 6 that can be fired in total within the duration.

If I'm a pagan of the good times, my lover's the sunlight

Although his elementary tactics had come up fruitless, it set the pace of the battle. His battle philosophy was akin to an avalanche-- slow at first, but when the first waves of snow began to domino into a monsoon, it would rampage until it met a violent end. His violent delights truly would have violent ends. Takao shed his cloak from his shoulders and threw it to the ground. It appeared to be a simple motion, akin to the precursor of street-conflict in which one party would shed their shirt prior to the fight. Yet as the fabric fell from his shoulders and revealed the all-black getup beneath, trace amounts of his chakra were infused within the fibers. Backup plans were essential-- no strategy was fool-proof.

The sand began to settle after withstanding the force of his volatile stream of breath, and the kunai erupted into explosions. Takao utilized this brief, blinding cloud of flame to disguise his breath. Flames spewed from his agape maw and traveled through the rebreather of his mask, consuming the air around him and enshrouding him with bright flames. As Lamya launched her own assault in retaliation, Takao ignored the lone projectile entirely. Plumes of fire began to crackle behind him and in the instant after Lamya fired off that single blast of air, which collided with the fires that cloaked Takao and resulted in a harmless flare on the surface of his divine sun, his glowing outline shot forth with incredible speed. Jets of flame had manifested behind his shoulder blades and propelled him forth in a manner akin to aircraft. He reached top-speed instantaneously as the jets pushed against him, and his right leg extended straight whilst his left pressed against his own inner thigh and braced the lengthened limb, threatening Lamya with a powerful strike aimed at her center of mass that would connect in less than a third of a second, provided that she hadn’t a proper manner of evasion or defense.

Their modus operandi appeared to differ greatly-- she tested the waters, or at least appeared to. Perhaps she was merely apprehensive to kill, perhaps she was afraid, or maybe she simply wanted to draw it out and turn their battle into a war of attrition. It was in stark contrast to Takao’s own volatile methods, which sought to end the conflict quickly and explosively. It remained to be seen which alternative was the ideal counter for the other. Fresh plumes of flame began to crackle from his hands, unknown to Lamya due to the foreign nature of the technique, yet another layer to his countless contingencies. He had not fully committed just yet, and left a myriad of options open should another avenue be needed. Even beyond this duo of contingency, another lay in wait upon his right forearm, ready to be used should the need arise.

Name: Substitution Technique (変わり身の術 ~ Kawarimi no Jutsu)
Canon/Custom: Canon.
Rank: E.
Type: Supplementary.
Element: None.
Range: One prepared item in the user's clear line of sight.
Speciality: Ninjutsu.
Duration: 1 post preparation. Infinite postponement, Instant activation.
Cooldown: 6 posts after activation.
Description: The Substitution Technique is an age-old skill which enables the user to evade the effects of an attack by switching with an item in the area. (The item---or substantial clone---used for a Substitute must be as large as the user's torso, and must be prepared at least 1 post in advance by infusing it with 5 chakra.) Activating this jutsu for another 5 chakra, the ninja moves at untraceable speed for just a moment, and the item does so as well to take the user's place; the ninja leaves behind a flickering after-image for a second, which, if damaged, releases the chakra which holds it in place in a small smoke cloud, revealing the nature of the technique and the item they have switched with. Higher-rank ninjas' afterimages are able to show some of the signs of natural impact as if it were an actual human, if only for a very short period, before 'poofing'. The user coming out of the technique creates a similar audio and visual cue with a small cloud of translucent smoke and a 'poofing' sound on appearance in the location of the item they Substituted with. This technique causes the user to move at speeds untraceable to human perception, and therefore even the user cannot coordinate attacks during the Kawarimi, or activate any other jutsu. They, however, can maneuver near someone and then attack them after the fast-movement is finished.
Name: Fire Release: Devouring Judgement Flames (Katon: Taberu handan-en ~ 火遁・食べる判断炎)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: S
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Element: Fire Release
Range: Self
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration
Description: Devouring Judgement Flames requires the user to perform six hand seals (Rat → Boar → Tiger → Horse → Dragon → Tiger) and exhale Fire Nature chakra onto themselves, thus creating and maintaining a cloak of flames over their body. The heat from the flames is intense and will burn indiscriminately through user and foe alike, instantly reducing anything that comes into contact with the fire to ash, including foreign chakra both within the user and any that comes into contact with the fire. This includes jutsu, of which it can withstand 1 SS-Rank, 3 S-Rank, 4 A-Rank, and an indefinite amount of B-Rank techniques and below. However, the increased defenses come at a price, reducing the user's endurance by 1 Rank(4 tiers) for the duration of the technique due to the heat weakening their body, and lowers to 2 tiers but persists for 2 posts after the technique ends.
Name: Fire Release: Burning Ambition (Katon: Atsuho Hōfu ~ 火遁・熱歩抱負)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary-Offensive
Element: Fire Release
Range: User
Specialty: Ninjutsu-Taijutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration
Description: Fire Release: Burning Ambition is a fire release technique that heavily augments the user's mobility using high-speed ejection of high pressure fire akin to jet propulsion, allowing them to move at speeds up to an additional +30m/s of their maximum burst speed. These jets can manifest anywhere on the user, allowing them to quickly dodge attacks or rapidly maneuver themselves within a 3d space as opposed to 2d. When used to climb vertically, the user is only capable of reaching heights of 30 meters above the ground before the propulsion becomes unstable and too difficult to control. This is not sustained flight, however, as it only occurs in bursts. It can also be used to quickly increase the speed of a strike depending on where the jets are manifested. Although not the intended purpose of the technique, the plumes of flames produced by the jets can inflict moderate first degree burns and set fabric alight on contact. Each post that this technique is used reduces the user's speed by 1 tier (up to -2 tiers after 2 posts) for 2 posts after the technique is ended.

With a simple poof, the air bullets she had fired to try and meassure the stranger before her vanished into thin air, negated by a fiery cloak which seemed to cover her opponent now. Though she wondered what kind of technique or skill this was supposed to be, Lamya was worried more so by the man's ability to suddenly use his own apparent mastery of the fire element as a way to speedily properl himself through the air like a meteor of sorts. If anything, Lamya was impressed by this show of experience and distinctive intelligence on how to use particular jutsu in unison. As her opponent used what at first glance looked like a defensive jutsu with some sort of painful backlash to anyone or anything stupid enough to touch it and a jutsu to increase mobility in order to veritably abuse the defensive and perhaps possible offensive applications of said cloak, the Desert Snake thought it reasonable to not outright test the jutsu's capacity without first studying it properly.

"Impressive," Was all she could utter, feeling the tinge of fear that came with facing off against people that showed more than average potential. Seeing the jutsu coming into action on his end, the woman was simply astonished not only by the look of it, but by the fact that it showed that this opponent had some rather impressive tricks up his sleeves."I see you have a mastery over your element even I can't quite grasp, no wonder you're the one stepping up in front of me."

If there was any test to be done, it was to see how strong The forces of this encampment were and Lamya had to admit that with what she was seeing, this intel could verily be of use to further assignments and operations within the desert of the land of wind. If there were more skilled warriors like this one she was facing now, victory might've been asking for a bit too much in these turbulent times with the nations so close to the brink of war. She was intrigued by this knowledge and perhaps also had her mind laced with the fear of knowing that despite her defensive capabilities, she might've been lacking too much on the offensive front to take someone down who was showing her such skill in exactly that: offensive power and versatility.

"Well damn," was basically all the woman could mutter when snapping her fingers to instantaneously erect a barrier in front of her while attempting to jump aside for safety's sake, with the creation of the barrier aimed to at the very least stop the man dead in his tracks for even just a moment. This blinding speed, all encompassing cloak of fire which seemed to burn away even the air around him and just that extremely direct and violent kind of fighting style really did overwhelm lamya, who when it came to offensive power, actually was not as strong as some did think her to be. Sure she had an ace in the hole, but to play a trump card so soon and so frequently would lessen the impact and actual use of it.

Just for the sake of certainty, she was contemplating wether or not using her Perfect Medic jutsu might perhaps have allowed her to somewhat find some sort of opening, but to risk using it without having any idea on how to deal with that ridiculously dangerous cloak wasn't exactly something lamya'd call smart. Alas, this was not going to be a war of strengths, but attrition, that much had become pretty obvious. There was no way she'd even hold off this man long enough in a straight up brawl, so she had to figure something out pretty fast. So, with no other option in mind, safety came first for the snake who decided to call it self preservation when in dire straits like these, speedily making the handseals  Rat-snake-dog-heaven to provide herself with a film of medically charged chakra to aid in the creation of her more specialized jutsu.

𝌊

Plumes of sand erupted like geysers behind Takao as the high-pressure jets propelled him forth at speeds unmatched. He did not waste the precious, decisive seconds of combat with a response to Lamya as she stood motionless during his blistering advance, making no effort to evade, block, or otherwise move as twenty five meters were traversed in under a half of a second. With his right leg extended and firmly braced by his left, the sole of his boot slammed into Lamya’s torso, just under her chest. His strike connected with enough force to shatter the ilium of her pelvis, and effectively separate the head and greater trochanter of her right leg and render that limb incapable of being used or moved. Fractures traveled throughout the pelvis from the broken ilium, restricting the entirety of her lower body’s movement from the waist down. He himself winced from the contact as the memories of injuries long since healed plagued the limb, and the fear of shattering his leg once more washed over him. Yet his bones within his leg did not shatter, and he followed through with the attack unhindered despite that easily abated worry.

Takao’s vicious assault did not end with the blunt impact of the strike. The flames clinging to his body provided their own debilitating damage, and burnt away at cloth, skin, and muscle alike with revolting ease. Moderate fourth degree burns plagued the location of the hit that shattered her hip bones, and while the area of damage was minimal, Takao was still not through nor satisfied. The force of both his hit and the jets erupting at his back carried the pair of them in the same direction, with Takao’s foot not leaving Lamya’s abdomen.

At the moment of contact, Takao’s right arm shot forward, utilizing the jet he had prepared on his forearm in the seconds prior to propel it with immense speed. His grasp was aimed at her throat with enough force to collapse her windpipe, whilst the flames would melt the flesh and muscle of her neck closed. This was not the end of his assault on her following the kick connecting. In unison with Takao’s grab for her throat, the oxygen within Takao’s lungs was effortlessly infused with chakra and exhaled in an instant. A tsunami of fire was vomited from his gullet and directly at Lamya, with every intention to spew it onto her and consume the pair of them in a swathe of flames. To Takao, the inferno would do nothing, for the hot Kimura blood coursing through his veins ensured that no harm would befall him at the hands of his own fire. But for Lamya, the consequences of going unprotected were much worse. The damage dealt would be similar to the kick in terms of volatility, but much more broad in terms of extent. The entirety of her body would be consumed by the same fourth degree burns that melted her abdomen. Muscles and tendons would be melted to bone and rendered entirely unusable, and the moisture within her body would evaporate like droplets of water in a hot pan, leaving her entirely immobile.

Notes on damage assignment:
Spoiler:
I’m taking the initiative to assign damage because the order of events were improperly represented in Lamya’s post, and would leave her unable to react to the situation in the manner that she described, effectively ignoring the attack when it would have landed. My argument is below:

As her opponent used what at first glance looked like a defensive jutsu with some sort of painful backlash to anyone or anything stupid enough to touch it and a jutsu to increase mobility in order to veritably abuse the defensive and perhaps possible offensive applications of said cloak, the Desert Snake thought it reasonable to not outright test the jutsu's capacity without first studying it properly.

In this paragraph, Lamya is acknowledging the fact that Takao is using the mobility technique. In order for her to recognize this as a technique that augments movement, Takao would need to already be in flight at 82m/s. In the following paragraph:

"Impressive," Was all she could utter, feeling the tinge of fear that came with facing off against people that showed more than average potential. Seeing the jutsu coming into action on his end, the woman was simply astonished not only by the look of it, but by the fact that it showed that this opponent had some rather impressive tricks up his sleeves."I see you have a mastery over your element even I can't quite grasp, no wonder you're the one stepping up in front of me."

Lamya again acknowledges the technique is being used, and continues to speak. It stands without a reasonable doubt that Lamya would not be able to finish this sentence within the 0.3 seconds it takes for Takao to travel ~25 meters at 82m/s. Additionally, her reaction to the technique does not start until this paragraph:

"Well damn," was basically all the woman could mutter when snapping her fingers to instantaneously erect a barrier in front of her while attempting to jump aside for safety's sake, with the creation of the barrier aimed to at the very least stop the man dead in his tracks for even just a moment.

This implies that she intends to have finished everything she said while Takao was in motion(0.3 seconds from initial starting point to the point where his attack would land), which seems unreasonable and unrealistic given the circumstances.

My assignment for damage is as follows:

Damage from the technique was reduced by 1 rank (S to A, “instant ash” to “moderate 4th degree burns”) in the same manner that a similar jutsu with identical damage was reduced in the Inabayama thread.

LINK to the ruling.

S-3 Strength(Takao) versus S-2 Endurance(Lamya) infers that the latter cannot resist nor “function through” the pain, and damage is only reduced on equal strikes.
Strength: S-3: Hits can break bone and cause internal bleeding, sustained direct hits can cause lethal organ failure.
Endurance: S-2: The ninja can resist broken bones or internal bleeding of S-2 or lower strength, functioning through the pain of the reduced damage. Breaks become fractures, internal bleeding becomes deep internal bruising.

The door is open for battle mods to be called if you’re not receptive of this assignment, and mods have been informed of this ahead of time prior to this post being made. I’m stating my case here for the sake of transparency.

Techniques Used:
Burning Ambition is maintained.
Devouring Judgement Flames is maintained. (Updated description below.)
Name: Fire Release: Devouring Judgement Flames (Katon: Taberu handan-en ~ 火遁・食べる判断炎)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: S
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Element: Fire Release
Range: Self (Aura)
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration + 2
Description: Devouring Judgement Flames requires the user to perform six hand seals (Rat → Boar → Tiger → Horse → Dragon → Tiger) and exhale Fire Nature chakra onto themselves, thus creating and maintaining a cloak of flames over the entirety of their body. The heat from the flames is intense and will burn indiscriminately through user and foe alike, instantly reducing anything that comes into contact with the fire to ash, including foreign chakra both within the user and any that comes into contact with the fire. This includes jutsu, of which it can withstand 1 S-Rank, 2 A-Rank, and an indefinite amount of B-Rank techniques and below. However, the increased defenses come at a price, reducing the user's endurance by 1 Rank(4 tiers) for the duration of the technique due to the heat weakening their body, and lowers to 2 tiers but persists for 2 posts after the technique ends. Techniques that are capable of defending against S-Rank techniques are capable of bypassing the fire and damaging the user, including jutsu that utilize elements of solid nature such as Earth Release or Crystal Release. Additionally, the user is not protected against physical projectiles of A-Rank or higher.

Name: Fire Style: Supernova (Katon: Chōshinsei ~ 火遁・超新星)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Element: Fire Release
Range: 50m
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 2 Posts
Cooldown: 7 posts
Description: Fire Release: Supernova is a technique that requires eight hand seals (Horse → Tiger → Boar → Ram → Tiger → Hare → Dragon → Horse). After inhaling a large breath and kneading chakra into the oxygen within their lungs, the user exhales a massive swathe of fire that rapidly expands into a projectile 45m wide, 20m tall, and 3m thick. This flamethrower accelerates quickly and travels at speeds of 65m/s up to 50 meters from the user, and can be maintained for up to two posts. The user can also move their head up to 90° while exhaling this technique, maximizing the destructive area. The flames reduce everything in their path down to ash, and inflicts severe 3rd degree burns to anybody standing within 1 meter of the fire. The fire will continue to burn until it runs out of fuel, chakra or otherwise, or extinguished.

Within the blink of an eye Lamya could feel the man's foot connect with the lower part of her torso, right upon her pelvis. She could hear how the bones cracked, the flesh got seared by the fire that completely envelopped him and the muscles giving way, letting go of the fractured bones and toppling her to the ground with no more strength left to keep her upright. Falling down, her eyes widened as she could see the fact that her entire lower body had been burned badly beyond the point of recognition. heck, she didn't even know if the stumps she had left after the man had passed through her so violently could even be called legs anymore. Alas, she was not allowed to hit the ground when she could feel the man reach for her throat and in his grip burn away everything entirely, skin, flesh, bone...nothing was spared, so she didn't even realize it anymore when the fiery demon made his last move and simply grinned while exhaling for a last time...or at least having the feeling of exhaling, or was that just her lungs trying to push the hot air out of them?

In a second, the remains were burned to a crisp and all what was left was something closer to death than to life...

Takao’s cold gaze bore down upon Lamya’s wretched, miserable form as it lay in a heap in the sands, burnt free of flesh and muscle. Onyx eyes glazed over the remnants of what had once been a woman rather confident in her abilities, and so critical of his ultimatum for her to flee or perish that she claimed it to be utter foolishness. Had he thought she could hear him, he might have mocked her, but the machine who wore the helm was different from the man who did not. From beyond the tinted black visor, he watched her smoking outline for a mere moment longer before he slowly moved around her like a hawk circling its prey. The flames that shrouded him flickered away into nothingness, and darkness overtook the pair as the last remnants of light disappeared. Sand shifted beneath his boots as he slowly came to a stop at her side.

The helmed shinobi lowered himself to a single knee beside her, saying nor making so much as an utterance as he stared mercilessly through the tint of his helm.

“Perish it is.” He spoke in a dull, uncaring tone.

His right arm shifted and his wrist tensed, pulling forth the razor-sharp blade of Muninn. He leveled its edge with Lamya’s seered throat, and held it for a mere second before it rose high above his head, and swung down like a guillotine. Whatever it was that clung to her bones was rend asunder, and her head was separated from shoulder. He watched it fall unceremoniously into the sands as the body fell motionless. He lifted the melted helm-clad head and placed it on top of the corpse. Wordless from then on, Takao channeled chakra from his hand to the still cadaver.

Takao was illuminated and bathed in a ghastly blue light and dull, droning sound as shimmering aqua-coloured chakra overtook the body. In seconds, the corpse faded away into nothingness, and not a single trace of the results of the battle were left, sans the sands indented in the shape of her body where it once lay. With Lamya disposed of, he stood and turned his attention to the encampment. The sounds of warfare were dying down, and it marked his time to end the conflict between the venerable Leaf shinobi and their reptilian assailants. The remainder of the hour of twilight was spent cleaning up the mess that the blighted sands wrought upon the compound. Those who were left alive of Lamya’s forces, of which there were plenty, were taken into custody for extensive and persuasive questioning. The remains of the others were collected, and those who bore loyalty to ROOT that fell in battle were given a similar treatment to Lamya.

When his own forces had dispersed, Takao left without a word to the Konoha shinobi that remained, leaving them to wonder who exactly their aid in the battle was.
