Despite the Raikage’s comment of not helping Iwagakure no Sato, the reason behind having not been known to the general populace, Daremo did not pay it any heed. There were people apart of the village that he would not turn his back to, even if it meant to go against the orders of a village’s leader. If there was one thing about him which was generally known, the silver-haired man put family above all else. They were the only thing he truly cared about in the world. They the primary thing which kept him going on a daily basis, and the foundation for many of his own motivations. And with him having family in Iwagakure no Sato who he knows was helping in the war efforts? Yes, there is no way that he would not see them, although, if any issue arises, he does have a plausible excuse for him being around them.

Stepping out of Kumo’s encampment with a scroll in hand, the male, wearing a dark brown haori, a white kosode, and dark brown hakama, took off towards Iwagakure no Sato’s encampment. The man had visited the location a couple of times whenever he had to look for his wayward niece who was apart of the village. Granted, he never ventured inside of the encampment always staying outside of it while waiting for his niece to appear. Speaking of his niece, Niala, last night, after rescuing the girls from a group of bandits, he had mentioned about coming by to not only check up on her but also to see how the rescued women were doing. He did not get a chance to do so last night, having to leave once he knew Niala was safe and sound, back with her brother in the camp.

Transversing the dunes his thoughts drifted to the scroll tucked away on his person. With a fire emblem on it, the scroll was handed to him by a courier-nin. It having been given to him the moment he stepped out of the breakfast tint. The courier-nin did not say why he was given the mission, only that it was requested of him to do it. Though he probably could have turned it down, he did not. A mission was a mission, and the ryo, while little, could be used for something useful. Plus, he did not have a problem in helping out the former village which had taken him in some time ago, and even allowed him, and now his wife, to leave without an incident. It was the least he could do for them.

After traveling for some time, the large Iwa encampment came into view. Daremo’s eyes were picking up on the movement of the shinobi stationed out the outer corners of the makeshift home for those who were helping in the war efforts. Decreasing his speed, the silver-haired man slowly walked towards the camp, his presence near immediately been picked up by the shinobi patrolling the area for any thread. Before he could even get closed to the camp, several Iwa shinobi appeared around him, halting his advancements. Questions were asked on why a Kumo-nin was so far out. Truthful answer was given, he wants to check on Niala, his niece, and to check up on the girls she brought in last night. More information was given to ease the shinobis worry, such as wanting to take Niala on a mission, the scroll with the fire emblem being shown as proof, and by the time everything was said and done, everything was and done, one of the Anbu disappeared to fetch the one in question. The Anbu leaving behind the other members to keep an eye on him, not like he minded.

Upon arriving back into the encampment, the Anbu would search for Niala, and upon finding her, mentioned someone by the name of Koyashi Daremo, who was proclaiming to be her Uncle, was waiting for her outside of the camp. Once the information was confirmed, and after the woman got her necessary materials, the Anbu body flickered them both back to the location were Daremo, still surrounded by the shinobis, waited for them. No sooner afterward, the shinobis disappeared, leaving the Uncle and Niece alone.

A smile spread across his face upon seeing his niece, “Hey, Niala. How are you?”, He asked, closing the distance between them, and hugging her. He having missed her despite them having seen her last night. Breaking the hug, he looks over his niece approved, “How are the girls from last night doing?”, He asked, wanting to know about their well-being. They were having been pretty roughed up when they were rescued. After an answer was given, Daremo pulled out the scroll with a fire emblem on it, “Got this mission this morning. Helping assisting the Konoha shinobi is establishing camps by clearing out some ruins. There is a good chance we will run into some bandits or thugs. You up for it?”

Can one survive off of nothing more than meditation?

Sleep had not come easy for the young puppeteer medic: something which could have any number of reasons behind it. Perhaps it was the fact that she was back home, or perhaps it was because despite being surrounded by so many allies it did little to make her feel safe: just because she was a member of the same village as those outside of her tent didn’t meant she trusted them, or perhaps it was because while everyone tried being quiet there were certain noises or movements that abruptly threw Niala straight out of sleep and wide awake. In the end, with sleep eluding her so well, she had settled for a meditative state, something that was easier for her to enter into instead of actual sleep. It gave her a chance to recharge as a manner of speaking without actually sleeping: it couldn’t make up for the real thing of course but it would do wonders in helping her last through the day. ’Maybe I’ll try some sleeping tea tonight, that should help…’, Niala found herself thinking moments before her meditation was gently interrupted.

“Koizumi, Niala?”, an unrecognizable voice would speak, causing Niala’s eyelids to flutter open, her blue eyed gaze snapping upon the Anbu standing about five feet from her. With eyebrows raised in curiosity she would give a nod of her head in conformation. “Yes, that’s me,” she would respond, curiosity lining her voice. “There is a man by the name of Kobayashi, Daremo outside of our camp, claiming to be your uncle and requesting to see you.”

The knowledge called a smile to spread across her face, her form shifting and standing in one lithe movement. “Oh! Okay. I just need to grab my things.” Niala was on the move immediately - her fairly common neatness that she kept her area in ensuring she was able to grab the scrolls that contained her puppets, her weapons, and other various items near immediately. Thankfully she had already been dressed: having switched up her typical all black attire for something more desert-worthy: a white tunic style cotton shirt that was baggy and breathable with gold trim on the cuffs and lining, a pair of baggy white cotton pants, and close toed shoes. A scarf was picked up last, wrapped around her head and neck, casting her face into light shadows to protect it from the deadly and unrelenting sunlight. The attire made her feel more at home, while at the same time more foreign than those around her who stuck to their standard shinobi garb despite how uncomfortable it was for them - it also just proved that despite her now wearing an Iwagakure headband - currently around her upper left arm - she was very much a Sunagakure nin at heart and always would be. “I’m ready.”, she’d speak upon returning to the Anbu’s side, finding herself body flickered out of the camp and straight to her uncle.

One of the only people I feel comfortable with around here outside of my brother.

Blue eyes would glance around at those nearby, eyebrows raising, before she focused her attention onto her uncle and made her way over to him: she shouldn’t have been surprised that her uncle’s arrival had sparked so much attention - or concern as it likely was - but she was. Then again, she was used to being around him and comfortable with his presence. As everyone left, leaving her and Daremo alone, her smile expanded, mimicking her uncles. She returned her uncle’s embrace while thinking about how to respond to his question, “I’m fine, just finding it a little hard to sleep…” Niala left her explanation at that for now, her focus shifting to the women that they had rescued last night. “They’re doing as well as can be expected. Thankfully they’re a lot less worse off than others - it seemed the bandits didn’t have that much time with them. They’re still scared though, they’ve been placed together - they seem to prefer it that way. They’ll be undergoing mental evaluations today.”

As her uncle pulled out a scroll with the fire emblem on it her gaze shifted to it and then back to him curiously, listening in silence as he explained about a mission he had picked up, and what it entailed. The idea of helping out Konoha establish some camps by clearing out some ruins and perhaps handling a few bandits in the process was fine with her. After being able to use HarTen for the first time just the other day she was itching to get him back out into a field of battle and really see what he could do: of course, a few bandits wouldn’t put up much of a fight like a more dangerous enemy might, but it was still something. So to answer her uncle she would nod her head, grinning, her previous tiredness all but forgotten about. “Absolutely.”, she’d respond.

Without missing a beat the scroll that contained HarTen would be slipped from her sleeve, the puppet being unsealed from it once more. Chakra strings were attached in an instant, and HarTen wasted no time in picking her up and placing her on his right shoulder, away from the eyepatch that hid the launcher beneath it. “Ready when you are.”

A small frown briefly made its way upon his features, but quickly disappeared as soon as it came. Daremo had picked up that there was something more going on with his niece at the moment, she cut off her statement after mentioning having trouble to sleep. Not wanting her to close up, he did not push her on the topic, instead, he would wait for her to talk to him about it. She knew that there wasn’t anything she could say that would cause him to look at her in a different light. He cared for his niece more than a majority of people in his life, excluding his wife and children of course. The only thing he wanted was the best for Niala, nothing more. While his thoughts could have easily jumped to another conclusion, he clamped onto it before those thoughts could take root within him.

Daremo’s head nodded when she spoke about the rescued women, “It is fortunate that we were in the correct place during that night. There is no telling what type of horrors awaiting them. Not surprising they are still afraid and sticking together. There is safety, and in their case, comfort in numbers, especially with those you know. I only hope the best for them.”, He spoke, truly wishing the women will be able to get through the ordeals, and live a, somewhat, normal lifestyle. He knew it would be difficult for them, especially if they stayed within these war-torn lands. There is nothing for them here, except for bad memories, and he hoped they would manage to find some way out of the desolate lands.

He did not had to wait long for Niala to come to a decision in helping him with the mission, and a smile, eerily similar to hers, appeared on his face. Sure, he could have completed it on his own, the objective seemingly very simple, but he wanted company. Out of everyone he had met so far, Daremo enjoyed spending time with his niece the most. She was a breath of fresh air amongst the heartless of these lands that looked to snuff out any light. ”Like you have any room to take, but, I understand what you mean.”, The animal within him spoken, having woken up from its slumber. One of the beast’s eyes opening to peer out, and look at Niala, ”When will you properly introduce us?”, It inquired. He knew that the beast within him wanted to be introduced to their niece, maybe he will allow it sometime later, in privacy.

Daremo watched as a scroll appeared from her sleeve, and before one could blink, a hulking behemoth was standing before him. What the puppet lacked in stature it made up in pure intensity and meanness that oozed from it. “Let’s go.”, He spoke, turning around, and heading back the way he came. A moderate pace would be set, allowing for Niala to keep up as they traversed the lands. The colors around them blending together. It would not take long for them to reach a group of Konoha shinobis, who stopped upon seeing them approach.

Information was exchanged between the two group, Daremo finding out that this was the group who they were supposed to assist in clearing the way for them. Holding back a chuckle at some of the shinobis reaction in seeing Niala’s puppet, he promised the group that the area, which was only a couple of kilometers away from their location, that him and his partner, Niala, will have the area cleared by the time they arrived. Once more, Daremo set a moderate pace for the pair with them arriving to the ruin area.

No sooner after the touched down, a group for twenty bandits came out from a behind a couple of stone pillars which had collapsed. The men wielding swords with a few bowmen in the mix. Taking a glance at Niala, Daremo nodded his head, meeting a bandit advancing on him, the flash of silver being the only warning as the bandit dropped to the ground, grabbing his throat to stem the bleeding from the hole in his neck. Other bandits met similar fates as some of the wiser ones turned their attention on Niala, attempting to take her down. It took only a couple of seconds for Daremo to finish up his portion of bandits. Yellow eyes flicking over to Niala, seeing if she needed any assistance, it being unlikely. “Lets pile these up. A Konoha shinobi can burn their bodies.”, He mentioned, dragging the cadavers by their legs, not wanting to get blood on himself, and tossing them in a pile. The work being done by the time the Konoha shinobi arrived. “You ready to return back?”, Daremo would asked once everything was in order. He leaving along with Niala once she was ready.

Puppets are wonderful things when you don’t feel like running.

Of course, puppets were wonderful things for a lot more than just that: such as the fact that she could keep up with her uncle easier this way: not only did the puppet have a longer stride than her considering its over six foot height but it was also generally faster than Niala herself could move. Plus, if the sand and dirt blowing around got too much to stand she could always disappear inside of the thing where she’d have fresh and clean air for a set period of time. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case as she, still riding upon her puppets shoulders, kept up with her uncle’s moderate pace that he set as they headed back in the way he had originally come from. Niala personally had no issues in helping another village out; experience was experience and ryo was ryo after all.

When they came upon the group of Konoha shinobi she kept quiet, including the chuckle that wanted to escape as several threw less than comfortable glances at the puppet upon whose shoulders she still sat: small and slight twitches of her fingers controlling the thing still, causing it to move and shift, to appear and act like it were human - or rather, alive, as it the thing looked very human by design. Once they were off again, once more her uncle setting a moderate pace she found herself able to keep up with as she continued to travel the way she did, she felt an amused smile spreading across her face: while she didn’t necessarily get off on making people nervous or uncomfortable, she was quite glad to see that her puppet had the effect on people that it did: its purpose was to be a tank, a deterrent. Its appearance was meant to change someone’s mind, to make them bugger off so that she didn’t have to worry about fighting them in the first place. Considering the looks the puppet had been being given she was quite confident that she had done that job well now.

Time to get to work. Lets see if I can work some more kinks out of my puppet.

As about twenty bandits made themselves known from behind fallen stone pillars she looked to her uncle and returned his nod. In a move that was graceful and clearly practiced she reached forth from a pouch and pulled out a handful of kunai, flipping open the slot in the puppets head and loading them in to the hidden projectile launcher before she flipped backwards and off of the tall puppets shoulders. No sooner had she landed did the door in the back of the puppet open and she stepped inside, activating her sensory technique. From inside of HarTen she began to control the puppet, the archers falling first as the projectile launcher came into use, firing one kunai after another as if they were arrows, flashes of metal the only sign of what was to come before one after the other fell. The bandits who rushed her met a different fate, the puppets strength becoming known as HarTen pounded his way through bandit after bandit, some receiving nothing more than a punch to the skull while others suffered broken limbs before being ultimately killed as the puppet bent limbs in awkward angles and backwards. Some dead bandits were even thrown at others, being used as weapons or to slow them down while HarTen handled others.

Only after the carnage was over and done with did Niala emerge from the safety of the puppet, stepping out onto the sand covered earth once more, the hatch closing behind her. She nodded to her uncle’s words, seemingly unaffected by the carnage HarTen, or rather she controlling the puppet, had just caused. Using her puppet since she lacked physical strength herself she directed the puppet around, grabbing up sometimes two or three bodies at a time to add them to the pile her uncle was making.

Enjoy the clean up.

Once the bodies were piled up she returned to the shoulder of her puppet once more; noticing more glances from the shinobi who had arrived to handle the bodies that were piled up. Turning her attention to her uncle she would nod once again, “I’m ready.” Without a backward glance she would follow after him once more, her puppet making it easier for her to keep up as she rode upon its shoulders.
