I suppose you really can’t lump a group of people together simply due to the actions of one individual.

It wasn’t often that Niala found herself being proven wrong, and yet earlier had been one of those times. Most tales of merchant escort missions tended to end with some kind of irritation or agitation for the shinobi involved not because of whatever enemies of obstacles they faced, but rather because of the merchants themselves. Rumors told it of how pompous and arrogant the lot of them could be, how it was usually the merchants who gave away their position or the fact that they were wandering by because they were loud and obnoxious and generally obscene. The men would flirt openly with female shinobi to the point of making them annoyed or uncomfortable, and tended to try and outshine the male shinobi or downgrade them to something they weren’t despite desperately needing their attention. Yet, that had not been what Kensaku and her had been shown. The merchants they had been put in charge of escorting and guarding to the border had been quite pleasant actually: they had listened to orders, and while they had talked amongst themselves during their journey they had been decently quiet about it. When danger had arrived they had remained where her and Kensaku had told them to, and despite being quite scared had kept themselves from freaking out or panicking and making the situation that much more worse - especially with the fact that one of the bandits had made a beeline straight for them. No, all in all, they had been a nice group to work with and Niala was quite glad for it: she had got a chance to try out her puppet - or rather, her dark aspect had - and things had gone along together flawlessly.

Well, that is if you didn’t count the hostile takeover of your darker personality before you had a chance to talk about it with your twin.

There had been only one issue with the whole mission: the fact that her darker side of herself had taken control and held it during the fight, revealing itself in ways Niala had been avoiding until she could properly discuss her darker half with her twin. In a way she almost thought this had been on purpose: her darker half was more than aware all of the time, and she had mentioned wanting to speak to Kensaku before they had fully left the property. Could her darker half have wanted to reveal itself on its own? Take control of the situation just to annoy her or cause her stress and worry?

’Oh baby, I was just having some fun. Chill your buns out. I’d never do anything to jeopardize your relationship with our brother. As Niala sat on her bed, her bedroom door open in clear invitation for Kensaku - him being the only other one home besides herself - to enter when he was ready she found herself rolling her eyes at the voice in her head, the honey sweet words holding a type of darkness to them that would make an untrained shinobi shudder in fear. ’Then why reveal yourself in the first place?’, Niala couldn’t help but think back, realizing in that moment just how crazy she was becoming: it was one thing to hear voices, it was another to hold conversations with them. ’Because I’m your dark half. When you’re threatened, when someone hurts you, it’s my job to put them in their place. To protect all the good and innocence that’s left in you., the darker aspect purred back without a hint of remorse for the take over. A chuckle echoed through her mind, the lighter aspect of Niala’s thoughts having registered clearly with her darker half. When you start giving yourself over to me willingly is when you’ll be able to control it. Until then though I will simply continue to force it, and you will have no control. That’s why I’m able to take the control so easily..’

Ignoring me won’t make me go away forever, dear.

Instead of focusing on the voice in her head any longer she pushed it back, ignoring it, doing the opposite of what it wanted. She had no intentions of getting along with it, no intentions of forging some kind of bond. She didn’t trust the darker half of her, she feared what it would do if given even more control. So instead she focused on pulling the towel out of her long white-blonde hair, the damp towel having absorbed the majority of the moisture in her hair from the shower she had taken almost immediately upon getting home. While she normally finished getting dressed in her bathroom, after she had slipped on a pair of baggy grey sweatpants that hugged her hips low and a black form fitting v-neck tank top, she had grabbed her hairbrush and ponytail holder and exited the bathroom for her cooler bedroom. With care she tried her ears around the multiple hoops and gauges, ensuring they were properly dry as well before dropping the towel next to herself on the bed and picking up her hair brush. Pulling it all over her right shoulder and starting at the ends she would brush out every knot, working her way up to her shoulder before letting her hair fall behind her and finishing up: securing it all in a high ponytail at the top-back of her head when she was finished.

Coffee sounds good right above now… or a cigarette. Maybe both?

With her hair finished Niala got up, grabbing her towel and brush, putting both away in the bathroom before heading back into her bedroom and grabbing up her headphones and music player, slipping the player into her pocket after popping the earbuds into her ears and pressing play. As music began to play softly she left her room and paused at the landing, “Kensaku, when you’re dressed and want to talk I’ll be downstairs,” she’d call out before heading downstairs, crossing down the hallway and into the kitchen. As she headed towards the coffee pot she began to sing softly, “She lives in a fairy tale, somewhere too far for us to find. Forgotten the taste and smell of a world that she's left behind. It's all about the exposure, the lens I told her. The angles are all wrong now: she's ripping wings off of butterflies. Keep your feet on the ground when your head's in the clouds. Well go get your shovel and we'll dig a deep hole to bury the castle, bury the castle. Go get your shovel and we'll dig a deep hole to bury the castle, bury the castle. Ba da ba ba da ba ba da.” As she sang along to the lyrics of the song she grabbed the empty coffee pot and brought it to the sink, filling it up to the ten cup line with water before heading back over to the coffee machine and pouring it in. With the coffee pot placed back on the heating coil she reached above herself, standing on the tips of her toes for the extra two inches or so needed to reach the canister of coffee and the filters. Once down she grabbed a spoon and began to measure the appropriate amount of coffee into the empty filter.

“So one day he found her crying coiled up on the dirty ground. Her prince finally came to save her and the rest you can figure out. But it was a trick and the clock struck twelve. Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick or the wolf's gonna blow it down. Keep your feet on the ground when your head's in the clouds. Well go get your shovel and we'll dig a deep hole to bury the castle, bury the castle. Go get your shovel and we'll dig a deep hole to bury the castle, bury the castle. Oh whoa oh whoa oh whoa oh whoa. Well you built up a world of magic because your real life is tragic. Yeah you built up a world of magic. If it's not real you can't hold it in your hand, you can't feel it with your heart, and I won't believe it. But if it's true you can see it with your eyes. Oh, even in the dark, and that's where I want to be, yeah….”

The filter full of coffee grounds was added to the machine before the lid was closed and the start button pressed; the machine almost immediately perking to life and beginning to make a soft hum as the water was heated up - the smell of coffee following soon after as water began to make its way through the filter and fill the coffee pot below with the black gold she was craving at the moment. Of course, that was only one of two cravings she had: the other was currently nestled in her left pants pocket - one she had been hiding: smoking. She knew it was bad. She was a medic, she had seen what years of smoking could do. But it was one of her vices, and thankfully as a medic she could fix herself should things get bad. Still… it was yet another thing she hadn’t mentioned to her mother or her twin for that matter, and she wanted no secrets between herself and her brother.

As she leaned idly against the counter for a moment she found her hand automatically fishing into her pocket, pulling out her lighter and flicking it on and over repeatedly as a new song began to play softly through her earbuds. ’Go have a cigarette, it’ll calm your nerves…, her darker voice spoke in her head, her voice sounding almost tired in a way, as if she had been sleeping. She promptly ignored it, sliding the lighter back into her pocket and folding her arms across her chest, patiently waiting for the lesser of the two evils to be ready: her coffee.

Kensaku

The world around Kensaku shattered like glass, revealing a dark room devoid of light, engulfing him in nothing but darkness. While might have been afraid of the sudden change in scenery, he was not. It was not the first time he had came to the particular way, unwillingly, and it probably won’t be the last. Though knowing how futile it might be, he still looked around, seeing nothing but darkness. He did not know how long silence was his companion until giggling could be heard, and a sphere of light,  illuminating the darkness, made its way towards him. “Hello Fuhyō,” He spoke, watching as the now identified sphere start taking shape. It was not long before a boy, with short silver white-ish hair, it having greyish streaks, appeared before him - illuminated by an unseen light.

As if looking into a mirror, Kensaku stared into Fuhyō’s eyes. The only difference between his own and the being before him was the touch of insanity that was present with the shorter male, Fuhyō’s, that was lacking in Kensaku’s. “Brother!” Knowing what to expect, he was prepared for Fuhyō’s missile-like impact as the smaller boy hugged him, something that he returned. Breaking away from the hug, Kensaku eyed Fuhyō, who was staring back at him with curiosity that just seemed morbid.  The look of curiosity soon morphed into sadness, and Fuhyō’s bottom lip trembled, “Why didn’t you let me play? Why did you let her play, and not me?” Oh, how he knew that question was coming sooner or later. Oh, how could he have not seen this question coming sooner or later? Guess he did not expect jealousy from any of them . . . considering what they are. Just as he was about to speak, long, feminine, pale arms snaked around his shoulder, and hot breath causes the hairs on his neck to stand on in. Eyes flickered down to look at the extremely sharp fingernails, painted purple with white skulls on them, that was trailing along his neck.

“You do not need to answer that.”, Like a Siren of legends, the voice was alluring, drawing in the unexpected, and hid the dangers that awaited, “Little brother should learn how to share. After all, it was my first time.” The innuendo was not missed by Kensaku who shivered upon feeling something wet and slimy licking his ear - a tongue. Having an inkling on who the individual was, he stepped away from their embrace, something they freely allowed and turned to face the new individual. There standing before him was a woman who had a striking resemblance to Hanae, his mother. Of course, there was some key difference between the time, her black hair, reaching past her shoulders, had streaks of white in it. The warm, inviting eyes of Hanae was present, but, unlike his mother’s who were genuine, there was not. There was an unbridled amount of rage and lust for bloodshed in the dark maroon eyes of this woman, hidden behind the calm facade.

The most significant difference was the woman’s clothing choice. Conservative was not within her vocabulary as she wore an extremely short black dress that frilled out at the bottom, which barely covered her ample ass. Legs for days, heel boots, with what could be estimated as 5 ½ inch heels, stopped just below her knee. The footwear made her taller than Kensaku by a couple of inches. Lipstick covered her full lips and matched the purple fingernail polished. Unlike Fuhyō who had a sense of unpredictable, this woman felt dangerous, domineering, and alluring. The trifecta being a confusion combination because, on the one hand, he wanted to be but as much distance from her as possible, but he also wanted to submit to her, and be in her embrace. “Nidhogg,” He spoke the name of his new puppet and noticing the smirk on the woman’s lips. “Yes, that is me. . .” The woman spoke, glancing at Fuhyō who had become silent and glaring at her.

Confirming who the woman was, Kensaku looked between the two before settling back onto her, “Did you really have to take on the appearance of my mother and make her. . .”, He stopped, looking up and down at the woman’s appearance. “Of course I did.” She walked towards him, her hips hypnotically shaking in time with an unheard tune, as she walked over to him, “After all, did you not have. . .” Kensaku blushed as the words were whispered to him. “Don’t worry. It is only natural.”, The woman chuckled, seeing the morbid luck on Kensaku’s face, “Besides, it just happened once.” Coughing in his hand, Kensaku looked between the two, “So, why was I brought here? Usually, Fuhyō brings me here to play or something, but I have a feeling this is not one of those times?”, He asked, receiving a shake of the head from both parties.

“As you know, we are nothing more than the manifestation of your personality. Quirks that were given life either to handle stress or because of an intense emotion. ” Though he did not entirely know for certain, Kensaku had theorized that these aspects came from such moments and that there are others who were waiting to form if needed. “For some reason, we only gain a ‘human form’ after a puppet is created. We do not know why this is, nor why it is only through the usage of the specific puppet that we are able to take over your body. It could be because we are more suited in handling combat or it could just simply be because all of us has a certain someone to protect.” Niala, his twin. The beautiful woman who Kensaku secretly vowed to protect to the last of his breath. “Yes, Niala. Our twin, but, more importantly, our lover. She is the only one who can send us into a frenzy with just a touch. The only one who we ever had the urge to make ours in mind, body, and soul. She is the only one. . .” Nidhogg stopped, licking her lips and shuddering, and rubbed her thighs together.  “She is ours. And, there is nothing we won’t do to protect her, and claim her. . .”, The last part being a mere whispered. “Yes, Sister is ours! She is the only one I want to touch .. I mean protect!”Fuhyō exclaimed, his face scrunching up, “That bastard Kannon had no right in touching what was not his, to begin with! I am glad he is gone for good... only sister could please us.”

Kensaku tuned out the rest of what Fuhyō might have to say, it turned into a rant of sorts, and looked at Nidhogg. “Okay, you said all of this, but, why did you bring me here?”, He asked, wanting to get to know the real reason behind this impromptu visit. “Because . . .” He did not know how long he talked with the two, learning more about his fractured mind, along with other small details, but, the world around him shattered once more, and Kensaku found himself walking out of the bathroom naked. He having apparently taken a bath, even though the last thing he remembered was going into his bedroom? Though, he really shouldn’t be surprised, not like this was the first time it happened.

Walking past the open door, knowing the only person home was Niala, and she was free to enter whenever she please, Kensaku stopped and looked at his sister who had also stopped, “Alright, just let me put on some pants, and I will be down there.”, He spoke, eyes soaking in her appearance, before looking elsewhere unless he wanted to deal with something else. Making it to the dresser, Kensaku slipped on a pair of black boxers, and dark brown sweatpants. Grabbing a brush, he brushed his hair, placing the item back on the top of his dresser, and exited his room, forgoing a shirt.  It was not like either of them was shameful of their body. They both had seen enough of one another to be comfortable around one another.

Moving down the stairs Niala’s singing reached his ears, and a smile formed on his face. Listening to her singing, Kensaku’s thought about why she needed to talk to him? Could it be about the mission? Did a merchant try something with her while he was upfront? No, that could not be it, he would have heard it through the radio. Did she somehow get injured during the mission? No, he knew for a fact she wasn’t hurt. Maybe it was the stalker from the past? Had they finally showed back up again? If they did, he would surely deal with them in the most brutal way possible. ”Maybe it is about what we saw during the fight?”, Nidhogg suggested, having noticed the change in Niala’s demeanor during the fight with the bandits. Kensaku blinked. Could that be it? Did it have to deal with what was witness during the mission? Did it have to deal with the change? What was that change anyway? It was brutal, cruel... .dark. Could she. . . ?

Having made it downstairs, he came to an interesting sight as he moved towards the kitchen. There was Niala leaning against the counter, opening and closing a lighter. The lighter looking nearly similar to his own that was hidden in his room. Either she just enjoyed playing with the lighter, or she took up smoking. Not like he could say anything considering he also picked up the vice. It would definitely be something brought up either in this conversation or another. Speaking of which, “Hey Niala.”, He whispered into her ear, snaking his arms around her, and kissing her cheek, before moving to the refrigerator, grabbed a bottle of water, and leaned against the door.  The ouroboros tattoo, the serpent eating its own fracturing tail, that was on his right pectoral muscle was on display. Furthermore, a more recent tattoo, that of a Chinese dragon, covering the majority of his left shoulder and going down to the small of his back, was also viewable. It is one of his newest additionals, and an important one, considering whose name was hidden amongst the dragon’s scales. Opening the bottle, and taking a drink of it, he focused his attention on his twin, “Is everything okay?”, He asked, moving to lean on the counter beside her, his arm wrapping around her shoulder, and bringing her closer to his bare upper-body.

You came down quicker than I would have thought, and here I was hoping for a chance to have something to fidget with before discussing this.

It seemed that Niala’s plans of having a cup of coffee in her hand before her twin arrived so that she could fidget and distract herself with it while talking about a topic that was difficult to address for her, or perhaps the chance to have a cigarette before he arrived, had been blown. Instead of taking a while like she had been expecting he arrived in almost no time at all. Of course, that meant that if she wanted a cigarette she would be coming out of more than just one secret today - not that she minded or anything, Kensaku was the one person who walked the earth she didn’t like keeping secrets from. Plus, at least it would be the easier of the two to explain, right?

A smile formed across her face despite her nerves over the secrets she had been keeping, and her arms automatically wrapped around Kensaku after she slipped the lighter she had been playing with into her pocket as he came over and kissed her on the cheek, the gesture causing her smile to grow even bigger. “Hey.”, she’d respond before releasing him and watching him make his way over to the fridge, his shirtlessness meaning she got a look at the tattoos upon his body - the sight of which brought up the memory of how she too wanted to mark her flesh with various artistic pieces for a multitude of reasons.

She watched as he pulled a bottle of water from the fridge before making his way back over to her. She shifted automatically to lean against him as his arm wrapped around her, her smile still present on her face. At his question as to whether everyone was okay she found herself nodding her head automatically before stopping herself. “I have two things I want to talk with you about now that we have time.”, she’d explain, though there was a pause there as the coffee pot finally went silent, the brew cycle having completed itself. “But, first I want a cup of coffee.”, she’d add, tilting her head up and kissing him on the cheek before going to pull a clean coffee mug out of the cabinet nearby. The cup was placed near the coffee pot before creamer was pulled from the fridge and sugar from yet another cabinet. A spoon was grabbed as an afterthought before Niala’s preferred ratio of all three ingredients were added to the cup until the liquid inside was a light tan and quite sweet. She worked in silence as she put everything away back where it belonged before retrieving her cup and returning to her position next to her best friend and twin. Holding the cup in both hands she’d bring it to her lips, sipping the hot liquid before sighing in enjoyment. “That’s better…”

I’ll give you the easier of the two to deal with, then the harder one.

Considering she felt it easier to confess about having picked up a bad habit like smoking she decided that would be where she would start: her way of easing him in to the harder of the two topics for her. “So, like I said, there’s two things I want to talk about… or rather, two things I haven’t been mentioning lately. First one is the easier of the two so I’ll start with that - I started smoking. It’s been helping with the general stress of our profession, plus it gives me an excuse to take a ten minute break from the hospital when I need it. As a medic I really can’t get cancer, and even if something were to happen it’s not like mom or Uncle Daremo couldn’t just regrow me a set of lungs or something - as gross as that might be.” Yeah, she totally was not about the whole growing or playing with organs thing, she was a medic yes, but that didn’t mean she enjoyed digging around in people's bodies. “I nicked your lighter, by the way. I need to pick one up today from the market, later on.” Niala would pause then, giving her best friend the chance to reply, to say how he felt about it, or whatever he wished. If he had questions she was more than willing to answer them.

”Easing into it, Niala? Good job. Always better to start with the disgusting vices first, I say.”

“Shut the fuck up.”

“Now, now, mind that temper… I’m supposed to be the half with the short fuse, remember?”

I hope you’ll still love and support me after this confession.

Deciding that continuing to ignore her other half was her best course of action, especially at a time like this, she decided it was best to press on and get the latter half of her confessional over with: the half that she was really nervous about. Before she began though she paused and took a sip of her coffee cup, holding it still in both hands, and staring into the light tan liquid as if it would have some kind of answer on how to best begin to explain the other, far more important, worry that was on her mind. “The other thing is a big harder to explain, and far more complicated than just picking up a habit.. “, she began, pausing to sigh, worried that the words wouldn’t come out right.

“So, for a while now I’ve had this other voice in my head… this… other me. It started in Suna, after the destruction, but it was kind of quite and easy to ignore. I allowed myself to pretend it wasn’t there, and that it didn’t exist. For a while that worked. I was able to pretend there was nothing wrong. But after that shit with… that man happened…”, she refused to sully the house by mentioning Genki by any sort of name or relationship title to them, “... the voice got much louder. Now it just won’t shut up. The only way I can describe it is the ‘dark’ half of me. All of the anger, the bad thoughts, evilness - it’s all that.”

”Don’t forget my charming nature, and bad girl attitude now…”

“You, shutting up, would be greatly appreciated…”

“One day you’ll learn to love me for just who I am.”

Ignoring her dark half once more she continued on, “I’ve been trying to ignore it, though it’s hard… but then she - it - started being able to take control of me…” A pause, a sip of coffee, and her gaze would remained glued only to her cup and nothing else. “I can’t really stop it when it happens, and I can’t gain control until she’s finished. When it’s occurring it’s like watching through a window: I can see everything that’s going on, but I can do nothing to change it.” Oh, but that wasn’t all, was it? She had been conversing with it, and her dark half had been telling her things. “According to this voice, or dark half as it refers to itself, the only way I’ll gain the ability to get control back when I want is to stop fighting her and give in: presumably the more willing I am to hand over the reigns of my body the more willing it is to give them back.” There, that was it. The whole truth laid out on the proverbial table, and she still wasn’t able to look at anything but the coffee in her hands, knuckles of said hands white from the vice like grip she had on the mug. Thankfully, the dark voice was giving her a reprieve: having gone silent as she waited for her brothers opinions instead of belittling her with more smart ass remarks.

Kensaku

Snaking his arms around her slender waist, bringing her flush against his body, Kensaku inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of his twin. The one that he had comes to love above all others. ”Can she really be called such considering our relationship with her?”, Nidhogg, a name given to his rage, spoke in the sully voice of hers. The aspect brought up a good point, one he never bother in thinking about. The relationship between him and Niala was only brotherly and sisterly on the surface, while in the eye of the public, but when alone, their relationship was keen to lovers than anything else. So, could he really still see her as his twin, knowing well what they have done, and will continue to do, in privacy? ”Although, still seeing her as your twin makes for some interesting dialogue in bed.”, It took some self-control not to audibly snort at the comment. There was no denying their relationship as brother and sister did make for something interesting and intense dialogue when they explored certain avenues.

Lips brushed against her cheek in a tender and loving manner, lingering against her flesh a tad bit longer than necessary. The kiss on Niala’s cheek being one of the more tamer greetings that he could have done considering they were the only ones home. And while he would have loved to lock lips with her, he doubted it would have ended just there. He simply could not get enough of her. To keep anything from happening, he just kissed her on the cheek and enjoyed the feeling of her arms around him, and his around her. Reluctantly, upon being released by her, something he secretly did not want, Kensaku moved towards the refrigerator to get something to drink. All the while feeling a certain pair of eyes on him. ”I wonder if she is staring at our ass. We do have a nice one after all.”, Kensaku’s eyes rolled at Nidhogg’s comment. If he did not know any better, he would believe she was just his lust aspect, not his anger one as well. For when she is not threatening to kill anyone who is deemed as a threat to Niala, she is making various innuendos about the girl, feeling his mind with titillating imagery.

Opening the bottle of water and taking a sip of it, Kensaku made his way back over to his twin. Leaning against the counter beside her, he placed the water bottle down, and wrapped his arm around her, bringing her closer to him. With a smile on his face, Kensaku questioned if everything was okay, and received a nod in response. The response, unknowingly to his twin, sufficiently calmed down his mind. The thoughts having circled around there being something wrong with her. That, the stalker from before had shown up when he wasn’t around her and had done something to his twin. Some of the thoughts even went to that man showed back up, and attempting to harm Niala like he almost did some time ago. Though a glance over her, he did not see any signs of injuries, but this could have been due to her using her skills in medical ninjutsu to heal any. Again, such an idea was dismissed, because she would not have kept a secret in regards to that man. So, with that in mind, and everything being okay, Kensaku wondered what she needed to talk to him about?

He did not have to wait long for an answer. There were two things that she wanted to talk about, but before the conversation could get to that point, the coffee pot went silent. Releasing his grip on her, the kiss on the cheek caused him to smile, and to return the gesture. His eyes never leaving her. Watching as she went about a making coffee. The action being something he had seen countless of times before. He, himself, did not care much for the caffeine drink, preferring to drink water above anything else. But, he understood some people could not properly function without their morning cup of coffee. Taking another sip of water, Kensaku carefully brought her back into his embrace, being mindful of the cup she was holding, and the hot liquid within it.

Kensaku raised an eyebrow at her confession of having picked up smoking. The vice being used to deal with the stress of their profession, and in her case, allowed her to get an additional break at the hospital. The confession surprised him. Never did he thought Niala would pick up smoking. ”The same can be said about you.”, that was truth , and he could not deny them. Indeed, most people would not think that he was a smoker, yet, he had picked up the habit awhile back to deal with the stress of their occupation, among other things. The disgust in her voice when she talked about their mother or uncle regrowing a set of lungs, if she got lung cancer, brought forth a chuckle from him. He did not mind much of seeing them perform those particular techniques. They were intriguing to him because it gave insight into the human body, and the organs themselves. “Eh, at least I won’t be wondering where it went when I go looking for it. Though, I am curious when did you take it?”, He asked, not commenting on the fact that she had started smoking . . . yet.

“I am not mad nor upset with you taking up smoking.”, The words being said to calm down any nerves she might have, “Considering you are a medic, the vice is not terribly life changing for you. And, it is not like I can say much, I started smoking upon us leaving Kirigakure no Sato.” What was left unsaid was the reason why he started the habit pertained to the belief that Niala and Kannon slept together. He needed a way to cope with such knowledge, and smoking was one of them, “ I would be a hypocrite if I judged you for something that I also do.”

With all that said, Kensaku wondered what the second thing Niala wanted to talk to him about was. The earlier statement by Nidhogg came to mind. Did it have to deal with what he had seen on the last mission with her? The change in her personality when the bandits attacked? He did not know. Patiently waiting for her to continue, Kensaku took another sip of the water, eyes focusing back onto her, and the bottle being forgotten, as she spoke, gathering her words. He did not interrupt Niala as she admitted to having another voice inside of her head. The piece of information being one of familiarity of Kensaku, considering he currently had two voices in his head with there possibly being more later on. ”That’s interesting, she had hers longer than ours”, A look of surprise came across his face upon her confession of having the second voice since the destruction of Suna. Yet, it seemed the voice was quiet, and easily ignorable, up until the incident with him happened. The mere thought of the man, and what he almost did, briefly caused Kensaku’s anger to spike before it settled back down.

”So, her voice is like me, just without the lusting aspect.” He came to the same conclusion as Nidhogg. It seemed Niala’s particular voice embodied raged, anger, and wickedness. The voice had fully emerged around the same time as Nidhogg became prevalent within him. Unlike him though, it seems her voice can take control of her body whenever it, please. He did not know what to feel about that particular piece of information. Should he be worried that the aspect would harm him? It was that of anger, and evilness, so does that mean it would cause harm to him? ”Maybe? But, if it is like us, the voice would not harm what Niala, and by extension it, loved.” That was reassuring, and he hoped it was the case.

Kensaku nodded his head in understanding, knowing exactly what it felt like when an aspect took over his body. Indeed it was like looking through a window, watching as your own body being piloted by something else. As she finished speaking, he took a moment to gather his thoughts, “It is eerie how similar we are alike. Not only in looks but, in what resides in our heads.”, He spoke, looking in the direction of his twin, and hinting at his own voices. “You are not alone with having voices in your head. I currently have two with there possibly being a few more that haven’t emerged yet. The first voice came around the time of us moving to Iwagakure no Sato. It did not make itself fully known until Fuhyō was first used against Hibiki. Aptly named after the puppet, Fuhyō took control of my body the moment the chakra strings connected with the said puppet. Childlike and violent, it represents the childhood lost due to the destruction of Suna. It also represents to every twisted, in society’s eyes, a love I was developing for you back then.” He gave Niala a chance to understand what was spoken, and asked any questions. For he had just admitted his love for her started long before them going to Kirigakure no Sato. “The second personality did not come until after the events dealing with that man. Though, it admitted having been formed in Kirigakure when I thought you and Kannon had sex.”, He spoke. There being no point in hiding what he had thought back then considering it was in the past now. “It was the main reason why I was distance upon heading back home.”, He stated, “Anyway, as I was saying, the second personality did not fully come until the incident with that man. Unlike, Fuhyō, this particular aspect did not wait until Nidhogg was used to make its presence known. Though, technically she, Nidhogg is a representation of my rage, anger, and oddly enough, lust. The lust for battle. The lust for you. It encompasses all of that. She has no quells in turning everything in ruin if it means harming those who harmed you, what my aspects, and I, considered ours.” Another pause was giving, allowing Niala a chance to ask anything about the particular aspect. Kensaku having admitted to Nidhogg being an aspect of rage, anger, and lust that would go to great lengths in protecting Niala from all forms of harm.

Taking a sip of water, Kensaku continued, “Unlike your own, Fuhyō and Nidhogg only take over my body when their respective puppets are used. The takeover even includes a change in my voice as you probably noted when I used the puppets. The two of them are content with me being in control most of the time. Though, Nidhogg loves whispering things for me to do like. . .” Leaning forward, he captured Niala’s lips in a deep, passionate felt kiss that ended as quickly as it came, “That for example. Admittedly, she wanted me to do something else, but that would have to wait for tonight. When she is not lusting after your body, trying to get me to give into some of the urges that only she knows. She is reminding me to protect you, to keep you safe. Oh, and giving suggestions on how to kill anyone who might harm you.”

Gently grasping her hand into his, Kensaku brought it up to his chest, precisely where the ouroboros tattoo was located, “Guess the tattoo make sense now, eh? The fractured tail representing my fractured mind.”, He spoke, keeping her hand on his chest, allowing her to feel his heartbeat that began to beat faster, “Now that you know my secret. Does it changes anything?”

He doesn't seem disappointed, or even angry, about me smoking.

Niala wasn't quite sure what kind of response she had been expecting from Kensaku: he was always level headed when it came to her, and yet she had confessed about doing something that was dangerous and in no way beneficial for her health. Quite the opposite in fact: cancer was a well known thing that people who smoked had to deal with – and yet, he simply took it in stride. She even briefly found herself entertaining the idea that perhaps it was because she was a medic who would know long before anyone that something was wrong, or perhaps even because of what she had mentioned when it came to both their mother and their uncle being able to outright grow her a pair of lungs should anything bad occur: not that she was looking forward to something like that, nor would she ever allow it to get that bad if she could help it. Still, this kind of calm reaction.. she hadn't necessarily been expecting it, and yet it made sense all the same.

As her brother mentioned the lighter, and that at least he would know where it went when he went looking for it only to find it gone, she couldn't help but grin a bit in a mischievous manner. “A few days ago...”, she spoke in response to him wondering when she took the lighter, the urge to play with it rising up once more even with her cup of coffee still held carefully in both of her hands: hands that were now comfortably warm due to the heat of the mug from the liquid inside.

In response to Kensaku opening up about having picked up the vice as well Niala found herself nodding her head with a gentle smile: she had assumed as much, though she hadn't outright said anything. There were certain things you couldn't miss about a smoker, no matter how well they hid things. “I assumed you had – though I didn't exactly know when it started.”, she spoke softly – Niala being no-more bothered by the idea of Kensaku smoking then he was about her. She was a medic, their mother and uncle were even better medics, if something came up she was damn positive that they could solve it.

I've face enemies with less nervousness than I have now. How are you going to take this revelation dear brother?

The easier of the topics was done and behind them, and now the more ominous one stood facing them both. How would Kensaku respond to it? What would he think of her after the fact? Plenty of shinobi had ended up hearing voices when the strain of their profession got to be too much for them, and many of them had to be locked away for not only their own safety but more importantly the safety of everyone else. They were known to be unstable, a dangerous entity, one to be feared as being unpredictable and unable to be trusted. Yet, here she was fully admitting such to her twin, fully admitting that she could now be classified as one of those who were deemed unfit for the profession, and a danger to others.

Yet, whatever response she was expecting it hadn't been this one. As he mentioned that they were more alike than he thought, that their alikeness went further than just being skin deep, she found her focus and attention shifting from her coffee and onto the male beside her. 'What do you mean by that, dear brother?' sound found herself wondering as she waited, and yet didn't dare to speculate.

As the revelation came about that she was not the only one who heard voices in their head – that he in fact currently had two which represented different aspects of himself and which had manifested themselves due to different traumas or events, Niala found herself putting her coffee to the side so that she could focus her full and complete attention to her twin. If his feelings were anything like her own then this was not something that was easy to admit to, and the least she could do was make sure that she paid complete and utter attention to him while he revealed what could be a devastating secret for anyone else but her to know. It was a secret that could ruin his career, his very life, and it was a secret she would take with herself to the grave if need be: like with everything else she would never betray his confidence with this, not even to their own family.

“I had wondered about that briefly... especially the first time I had heard it happen...”, she would reply in response to him mentioning about his personalities revealing themselves when he used his puppets. “Then again, I brushed it off... I assumed it was all apart of using the puppet.”, she admitted honestly. She hadn't really given it too much thought – some people acted a certain way or controlled their puppets a certain way. But now, even knowing the truth, it changed nothing of how she felt.

As she thought over how protective these voices of his seemed to be she couldn't help but think back to her own: for all of the teasing and the violence and the anger, she couldn't remember a single scenario where the voice wanted to hurt Kensaku. In fact, if anything it wanted to protect him, to claim him. “You know... my inner voice, my Dark half as I call her... she reminds me of your own voices. No matter how violent she gets it's never aimed at you. It's like she loves you too, and gets beastly protective over you.”

As he took her hand in his and placed it on his chest where his tattoo was she found herself nodding her head yes in response to his words. The tattoo definitely made more sense now: it was a symbol in a way – not just a tattoo he got and had done simply because he liked it, but rather because it had a purpose, it had a reason.

Do you fear as I do that your admittance will chase me away?

A gentle and warm smile, her usual one reserved for those whom she cared for, appeared on her face at her brother's question. She gently pulled her hand from his grip in favor of wrapping her arms around him and hugging him gently but firmly. As she stood there she rested her head on his chest, listening to his beating heart. “No... it doesn't change anything. You're the same Kensaku to me that you were five minutes ago.”, she spoke honestly and truthfully, wanting to ensure him that this did in fact change absolutely nothing in the way that she felt. She wasn't afraid of him, she wasn't disgusted by what he had admitted, she was simply accepting of him as he was: as she always had been.

Only after she was sure he understood the unspoken meaning behind the hug, the acceptance and love that was there, would she finally pull away and smile playfully. “I hope this doesn't mean I have to worry about your puppets randomly grabbing my ass though... that might get awkward in public. Especially when I return the favor.”, she spoke before chuckling.

I feel like this invisible weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

Even as Niala playfully spoke she felt free: as if she could actually breath again. As if she had been holding in some unknown breath that until now she hadn't been able to exhale. She felt light, and airy. As if she had been stuck in a cage for so long and could now stretch her wings. It was exhilarating, and caused her smile to remain on her face even as she picked up her cup of coffee once more from the counter nearby and took a sip of it, holding it as she often did in both hands.

The mischievous smile thrown his direction by Niala was return, “You could have asked for it. I would not have minded you using it. I was quite annoyed when it came up missing. Thought I had misplaced it somewhere.” The incident did not bring forth any hard feelings between the two. He was not mad that she had taken it. With the lighter being missing, it provided an inconvenience than anything else. He having to resort to other means to light a cigarette whenever the urge to smoke one was there.  Really, it would have been prevented, if she had just asked to borrow it. But, he understood why she thought that she had to sneak it out. They both thought the other would disapprove of their behavior when that was the furthest from the truth.

An eyebrow was raised, “Really? I couldn’t just have a lighter to play with?”, There was no malice in his words, “Am I that bad?” Chuckling at his own words. Amazing how quickly she had managed to pick up on a habit that he had thought was hidden well from others. Either twin really did no one another better than anyone else, or, he did not do a good job at hiding the lighter. If she managed to find out with little prompt, did that mean their mother knew also? Dismissing the thought, for now, he thought back to the dresser drawer that his lighter was in... He should take another look within it, and see if anything else was burrowed out. Not to say he believed Niala would do that, but, there was stuff in the drawer that was less than innocent in nature.

Taking another sip from the almost empty water bottle, Kensaku took a moment to gather his thoughts on the subject matter that were about to be discussed. If it wasn’t as serious as it was, he would not bother with any prep. But, considering what the subject entails, he had to make sure everything was in an order that was understandable for Niala. He could not leave anything out unless he wanted her not to truly understand what he was going to speak about. Having gathered his thoughts, putting them in some order, Kensaku began speaking.

Afraid. That what he felt upon telling Niala the secret he had kept from everyone else. Never in his short life did he find himself away in admitting something before. There was always a sense of confidence when it came to speaking about varying subjects or expressing his emotions, yet, right now, it was the most difficult thing for him to do. He did not know why it was. Maybe it was because of the undivided attention giving to him by someone who he cared about. Nevertheless, there was no way he could get out of telling Niala the truth, therefore, he continued speaking, revealing how similar the two were.

Setting the bottle of water down, Kensaku ran his fingers through his hair, “No that was not apart of the puppet, just a personality taking over. From what the two have told me, the others won’t fully reveal themselves into they have a proper vessel - that being a puppet. Any puppet crafted by my hands will suffice enough for the next aspect to reveal itself. And that will only happen if there is a trigger for it.” Sighing, “It is weird, to say the least. Because I won't know anything about the others until a trigger happens and a puppet is made from them.” In his words it was easy to tell, Kensaku did not want another trigger to happen. He did not want to go through another traumatic experience just to find out who else was in his head. He just wanted a semblance of normalcy

Musing were cut short as he listened to Niala speak about her own other self. The dark half seemingly being protective of him, only in a beastly manner. At the mere thought of that, Kensaku cracked a smile, “Should I be worried that Dark Niala will attempt to bite my name in a means to claiming me?” He jested, “I would not be opposed to having a mark on me to tell others who I belong to.”Before the topic could get derailed, Kensaku grabbed Niala’s hand and placed it over his tattoo on his chest. Not much was needed to be said regarding the piece of art. It did a perfect job in describing itself.

Feeling her pull away, Kensaku briefly thought she was afraid of him, but that was erased when she wrapped her arms around him; he returning the gesture, holding her close against his chest. There was genuine honest within her words, and he was happy that she accepted him for who he was, “Thank you. Hearing that from you means the world to me.”, He whispered, “And, just so you know, the feeling is mutual. You are still my Niala as you were five minutes ago.” It had to be said. He had to let her know that she was still is.

Letting go of the hug, Kensaku noted the playful expression on Niala’s face. Laughing at her comment, he shook his head in amusement “The only one you would have to worry about is Nidhogg, and considering her puppet, I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Unless.” Tilting his head to the side, “I could add tentacles to the puppet. So she can smack your ass whenever.” He jest. “You should know. She constantly screams for me to smack grab your ass in public, and claim you.. Like this.” Reaching around, Kensaku grabbed a hand full of Niala’s ass, bringing her closer to him, and locking lips with her. The kiss being deep and a passionate one that ended far too soon “Just like me, she doesn't like how others stare at you with lust. She wants me to make my claim on you known so that others would get the message. There have been numerous occasions where I nearly did give in to the temptation. But, I did not.”, He spoke, releasing her ass. He having admitted to claiming her in front of other. Wanting to grab her ass and bring her into a deep kiss, letting others know who woman she is. He wondered how she would take that, but he did not ponder on it for long.

“Come,”, Grabbing her hands into his, Kensaku guided her into the living room, and toward a large sofa big enough to comfortably seat three people “Sit with me.” Sitting down on the sofa, he waited for Niala to join him, “About our relationship. Do you want it to be public?” The question being one he had been thinking about as of late, “I rather it is us letting it be known instead of someone starting a rumor. Though rather our relationship is publicly known or remain a secret does not change anything between us. I am still very much in love with you and look forward to what the future holds for us. But, I still would like to know what your thoughts on with us possibly being more open with our relationship?”

Oh gods, let’s not add to the ideas, okay?

Shaking her head with a smile, Niala rolled her eyes and then chuckled before focusing her blue-eyed gaze back onto Kensaku, “Please don’t give her ideas. She’s already got more than enough of them, we shouldn’t add to the list. Or worse, she’ll be tempted to reveal herself, because she’s been dying to have a chat with you.” Of course what her darker half wanted to do was the furthest thing from chatting as one could imagine, but she was trying to keep the conversation from turning lewd in that sense: she was fairly certain that her dear Kensaku could figure out on his own precisely what she meant with what she had said.

She listened to his words with amusement flittering across her face, though this became much more than just that as with a squeak she felt her bottom grabbed as she was pulled against him and kissed soundly and deeply, a gesture which she returned just the same. “I’m fairly certain a great deal many people would have something to say about that if you did that in public.”, she spoke honestly - though she couldn’t deny that she hated the fact they had to hide: in fact, that was a thought that crossed her mind quite often. Yet, she didn’t muse on it for long as she felt her hand grabbed and heard her Kensaku’s words. She followed him into the living room, watching as he took a seat on the comfortable three-seater sofa. Instead of sitting next to him like say a normal person would she instead laid down as was her usual way, the back of her head resting on Kensaku’s thigh as she stared up at him. In a very purposeful movement, she reached up and grabbed the hand closest to her head, placing it then on top of her head in a very obvious ‘play with my hair, please’ kind of way. Of course, this didn’t divert her attention from what Kensaku was speaking about, and a thoughtful expression fell upon her face for a moment as she contemplated her answer in silence.

Why does life have to make things so complicated?

Having always been a thinker she took her time in forming her response, battling between what she knew was logical and the answer of what her heart very obviously wanted. Of course, there was also her darker portion that woke up among her mental debate.

’Oh, oh! Public! Public! Come on, let’s show the world he’s ours!’

‘If there was a way I could hogtie you, gag you, and throw you in a closet I would.’

‘Well, that doesn’t sound fun at all, spoilsport.’

‘Shut up, I’m thinking.’

‘We’re thinking.’

‘I definitely don’t want your opinion on this.’

‘No, but you’re going to get it regardless: you should do whatever makes the two of you happy and fuck what society thinks or feels about it.’

Dear gods Niala couldn’t argue with that logic, she really couldn't. The idea of just throwing her hands up in the air, proclaiming her love for Kensaku, and telling the world it could go fuck itself was definitely an appealing option. But, how would that affect them long term? Would it destroy their futures? Should they care? With a soft sigh, Niala gave a shrug of her shoulders. “As much as I would love to go outside right now, proclaim my love for you to the world, and tell whoever had a problem with it that they could kiss my ass, I think we need to do this carefully. I’m not saying we hide our feelings in the shadows forever, but I do think that securing ourselves in our careers first, ensuring that we’re both safe and protected from as much backlash as possible, is the most logical thing to do. Despite the past few months we’ve made a decent living here and I would like to keep that as much as possible. I don’t want to see either of us run out of our home because some asshole cannot handle the idea of us.”

Once more her thoughtful expression would show, laced with understanding over the situation, “Though, I do see the merit in the idea… I hate as much as you do having to watch someone openly ogling you, knowing that their thoughts are less than pure and wholesome. It makes me want to lay claim to you as much as you had mentioned in the kitchen wanting to do to me.”, she spoke truthfully, wanting to let him know that she felt the exact same way. She understood his urge and need to let people know that she belonged to him because she too felt it. She hated the way people looked at Kensaku, the idea of what thoughts were running through their minds. Yet, she also knew that they had to be careful with this or else they would both suffer for it later - and she knew he didn’t want that any more than she did.
