"And this might be remembered. As the moment I accepted my role as but a warrior, instead of a princess."

Verdandi had been working on carving her own ANBU mask since weeks. The prospect that her Squad was officially accepted as potential students to the ranks of the special forces made all of them giddy. They however, still had to prove themselves. Maigo, their new makeshift captain and potential guide into these ranks was testing and preparing them. Verdandi however, as ambitious as she always had been, had no doubts towards her success. In her career there was little that didn't turn the way she wished, considering the eternal effort she usually put into all of it. But the main reason she was certain of her future success, was based on her own Squad's ability when it came to their unique teamwork.

Now was the day she would first be allowed to put it on her face. It was yet not layered within its protective finishing touches but certainly enough to hide her face. The black armor plating's on her body worked well with her simple padded armor piece. Her ammo pockets very full to the very brim with kunai, senbon, shuriken and many more standard weapons for a skilled shinobi. She would not be wearing her forehead protector and none of her usual clothes. She would tie her hair back. A black hood tightly clipping itself to the mask at hand.

Verdandi moved in front of her mirror to check her gear one last time. Sliding her powerful blade into her sheath. Every month that passed by was another month that increased her powers. The only thing that irked her, she had to leave her trusty pet at home for this one. A polar bear the size of a human without even standing straight, was not something that tied in all too well with a stealth mission that called for discretion.

However, despite her nervousness. On the positive side of things, Verd was told that the supervisor she would be allocated with, was but someone trustworthy, or even someone she might know? They were all being super secretive about it anyway. But she wouldn't ask too many questions. As the whole operation would demand the same from herself towards others.

The whole operation had multiple layers of goals. The two of them were supposed to act as mercenaries that would act in cold blood uncaring of the village's success in the suna reclamation project. However, the actual initiators, selected this operation carefully as it specifically aimed to hurt a village that they were opposed to in various ways. A way of dealing two strikes with one blow. Causing illness to the rival they despise, while getting access to the connection network that is hiring 'mercenaries' and even further, gaining their instable but valuable trust.

How they would try to exploit their future connections to the ones hiring this sort of rebel job, was not in Verdandi's interest nor was it in her job description. She was but a small piece in a way larger gearwork of powerful schemes and for once, she didn't mind to be such.

It was dark at night. Her black armor covered her body from head to toe that it was already difficult to see her to begin with. She charged for the outskirts of a very specific village-nin camp. Far away from the main encampments. Far away from easy reinforcements. Far away from anyone to tell the tale quickly enough for it to become a problem. Military forces swarmed the area. But seemingly not of shinobi rank. A perfect setup for a young and ambitious woman that desired to become something greater and far more dangerous than what she was now?

Verdandi arrived at the mountain passage not far above the target encampment. Staring down into the valley. Hidden by the night. A specific rock formation, shaped into a large P Symbol was the supposed meeting spot. Verdandi didn't know what that symbol was for, but she could only imagine it to be something of coded language that only skilled ANBU might know about? Not that an uncrowned initiate as herself had any rights to even relate herself to that name yet. Despite being, for once allowed to wear an untypical mask that might just mock the originals in its own design.

Whom might it be? To lead her into this cold-hearted battle. Verdandi checked her gear one last time. Adjusting herself to breath beneath that weird mask. Pretty sure it might even become comfortable, over time... Not that her comfort was important in a time based task that asked for a quick and deadly solution.

if I'm a pagan of the good times, my lover's the sunlight

Night operations had become the modus operandi of his activity within the vast deserts of Kaze no Kuni, and for good reason. The blistering heat of the day was unbearable, even for a descendant of ancestry that boasted kinship to the fathers of fire. But the nights were cool-- even frigid in some cases-- yet all-around more bearable than the alternative.

A man had approached him earlier in the day while Takao rested at a forward base, one of many strewn about the desert. It had only been a few hours, yet he could no longer remember which nation he claimed allegiance to, if any at all. Not even the flags flown by the forward base were anything more than a blur in his memory. The man had inquired about his shinobi rank, to which Takao gave an honest answer. Then he explained that there was an open mission offer on the table to any willing shinobi. Curious but apprehensive, Takao heard him out and sat through the briefing. They spoke of a large encampment, filled to the brim with non-shinobi entities. Mercenaries, samurai, and similar miscellaneous infantry had taken root within a valley.

They claimed that their presence was a threat to another nation's reclamation efforts. Several others had been sought out but turned down the task upon realizing its scale. It was not the sheer number alone that created a daunting task, but rather the prospective skill of those opposing. The latter portion of the briefing had vastly overshadowed the former, and piqued Takao’s interest-- he was always up for a challenge.

Adorned in fabric and leathers dyed black as midnight, Takao departed from the forward base an hour shy of midnight. The new ensemble had yet to see battle, and although he was initially reluctant to risk damaging the prototype design, it was an excellent way to test it out. He had foregone his mask to shroud his visage yet still wore the framework and rebreather around his neck, hidden under cloth that could be pulled over his face if necessary. In a moment’s notice, he could have the hard-polymer visor over his face and the frame protecting the remainder of his head, but he did not suspect such usage would be necessary. The pouches worn upon either side of his leg were filled to the brim with negligible projectiles, and the modestly sized bag resting on his hip held similar quantities of various other combat-oriented instruments.

The loose desert sand shifted beneath his soles as he tread the distance from camp to camp. Before he had even arrived at the designated meeting spot, Aibāningu had laid out the setting in detail. The exact number of enemies had been counted via heat signature, which left nothing about the upcoming battle to the imagination in terms of scale. Then his gaze had fallen upon the lone figure at the mountain passage used as a rendezvous point. The difference in bodily temperature was especially telling, and although her identity remained a mystery, there were certain context clues to be picked up on.

Chakra cloaked his body in a light-bending shroud as he moved forward toward the mountain pass. He had foregone the cloak that would normally mute the noise made by walking, however the loose sand was more than enough to prevent his approach from being especially noisy in his approach. This entire setup was solely for his own entertainment, and he persisted despite the expectation that it would not play out as desired. As he drew closer to Verdandi, he leaned in carefully, and exhaled a single word.

“Boo!”

Not a yell but certainly not a whisper, Takao quickly backed away from Verdandi and began to laugh regardless of her reaction. Stumbling back a few steps toward the “P” shaped marker that indicated the point in which they were intended to meet, Takao dispersed the cloud of chakra around himself and the light became unbent. Still snickering as the chakra faded and revealed his black-clad self, his gloved hand rose and plucked one single stone from the formation, causing it to crumble unceremoniously.

“They should’ve just put down a spotlight instead of this.” Takao idly commented as he tossed the stone in his hand, watching it land amidst the pile of others in the sand. Dusting his hands together to remove the slight hints of dust from the thick fabric, the dark-haired shinobi’s attention returned to Verdandi.

“Would’ve been just as obvious… Anyway.”

Takao moved back to stand closer to Verdandi, and rest his hands on his hips. “I’m Takao. We’re both here for the mission I’m guessing, yeah?” He asked, his head tilting slightly. “Sure would make this awkward if that isn’t the case.”

Verd would have reactively punched the guy sneaking up on her on his balls. To Verdandi's heavy surprise, his nutsack was well protected. A loud 'knock' was to be heard. Either this weird ass guy actually was wearing a willy protector in his new armor set, or Verd massively miss-aimed her instinctive punch to the groin area. Shaking her hand after it met with the hard, thick fabric. Verd thwacked Tako on his head. "You! You are aware you'd be so fucked right now if I was an enemy!" she said. Laughing at the fact that Takao had just openly given away his name. Verd shortly lifted her scary ass mask and gave him a glimpsing smile. Placing it right back in case some creepy stalker or spy was hiding in one of the nearby bushes. Wouldn't be the first time. Verd was checking for her gear and gazed down into the valley below them. The hired muscles down there were soldiers. Mercs, probably hired by Kumo as intel lead to believe. But somewhat not to fight the suna-nin or Ryujin or other radical groups of the sand. Instead they were hired to mess with their competitors. Potentially Kiri or Konoha would end up being target of this fake band of radicalized suna militiamen. Verd wondered why neither of the nations just called Hastur out on his nasty behaviour. They could easily organize some interrogation party that would squeeze the truth about this project out of any willing, or well primary unwilling person here.

The contract giver however preferred it when the villages didn't fight while they were here, at least no in the open. Supporting petty little squabbles behind the scenes. Hence their disguise, Verd and Tako were supposed to just remove these troops from existence. Seeing what type of men, they were left little of Verdandi's, not rarely misguiding, morals to the task of wondering what to do with them and if it was 'alright' to beat them up and kill them. But almost half of the men here were donning Clan insignia of raider and otherwise pretty nasty sub groups of bandits and the worst kind of mercenary scum. Verdandi's initial worries were fading. She would be able to go down there and slaughter a whole bunch of these dumb nuts without feeling the slightest bit of remorse. Verd watched her friend. "Well well, lets see which dragon is better, fire salamander from the south or frost wyrm of the north hmmm?" she chuckled. Knowing well that it irked the Amaterasu eating monster if Verdandi dared to compare her freezing breath with the flames he exhaled. She lifted her arm. Checked the moons position. Tossed a kunai down into the remains of the large P circle and popped a chewing gum beneath her mask. Leaving Tako to wonder how she was doing that without basically popping he whole gum against her mask. But some intense mysteries and secret techniques were yet to be explored. Verd was ready for action.

"We'll return here in… fifteen minutes. Whomever killed more enemies by then gets to call the other a twat." She grinned. Slowly jumping down the valley. "No S-Rank techs you cheat!" she added before pulling her favourite kunai. Starting to stroke over its surface while she was running. The dumbass would probably get so riled up he'd run past Verdandi like a maniac. Considering their rather nasty difference in physical powers he certainly had an advantage. But Verdandi too had tricks up her sleeve. She would give the old ass leaf ninja some easy game here. If he wanted to genuinely win he'd have to show some proper stones. Dandi started off her idea by choosing a very specific spot somewhere behind the main tents. The merc's encampment was rather large and the men were spread all over. Verd was properly disguised in her Silhouette technique. She had already send a surge of suiton chakra to the floor to load a trap…. Just in case. She wondered how long Tako would stay an assassin and quickly take out enemies one by one from within the shadows. Dandi certainly ready for her start. Would move in behind her first single target. A mere lowkey guard. Grabbing his mouth to shut him up while at the same time slowly dragging her dagger through his throat. Watching him bleed out until he just dropped to the floor like a meat bag. Verd moved further through the shadows. Trying to find a few more single targets to start with. The next best bloke would do. Same tactic. Grab, shut up, cut, bleed, eventually stab heart. Nothing special or inhumane too much. After all violence was but a tool to reach one's goal.

Chakra 315 / 350:

(Yuki Clan Effect)

Verdandi pays 20 Chakra for being able to cool her body in the desert.

Name: Silhouette Technique (Kagebōshi no Jutsu)
Origin: Canon
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Element: None
Range: 1m or less
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: -5 chakra per post
Cooldown: Duration +3 posts
Description: The Silhouette Technique is a jutsu that makes the user's body as flat as possible. It allows the user to hide in another's shadow, enabling them to get into restricted areas unnoticed. In addition, it allows the user to perform sneak attacks on unwitting enemies. To use this technique, the user must stand in the shadow in question and form the Boar, then the Hare hand seal. They will then flatten out and conceal themselves inside the shadow, leaving no trace of themselves behind. Ninja cannot use this jutsu if there are no shadows to hide in; if shadows are for some reason radically stretched or eliminated (such as by a bright attack like a fireball), the user would be expelled from the shadow. Attacks that hit the shadow the user is hiding in will still affect them.

i’ll tell you my sins, you can sharpen your knife

A wheezing snicker caught in Takao’s throat upon sustaining the whack upon his dense noggin, and he stumbled back a few steps to put ample distance between his well-protected tenders and Verdandi’s uncouth assault. His hand briefly supported his side as he laughed, far too entertained by the observably mundane ordeal.

“No I wouldn’t,” Takao said as his posture straightened and his laughing subsided back into rhythmic breaths. “I got that close to you without you noticing. You have no idea how long I was even standing there. You’d be dead before you even knew what hit you if you were an enemy. Also, nice try, but I’m wearing protection.” Takao said as he lightly rapped his knuckles against his crotch, eliciting a hollow sound from the codpiece protecting his irreplaceables.

His head tilted slightly again when she lifted her mask, and his visage adopted a growing smile upon recognizing the familiar face, even if it was only a part. “Ahh, Princess! Small world. I’m surprised to see you out here in the desert. Doesn’t really seem like a place for royalty, you know. Especially not here.”

Perhaps it was too casual given her status, although Takao hardly cared. They were in the deserts of Kaze no Kuni, surrounded by the dregs of society. Both of them had been contracted to kill. It was hardly a place befitting of royalty, yet here she stood, masked for the upcoming bloodshed.

The label she gave him brought an honest, genuine bellowed laugh from his chest. “Salamander? Haha. Good one. This lizard’s got wings, baby.” He said, thumbing over his shoulder to point at his back. Once the accentuated gesture had made its point, his hand returned frontward and was joined by the other, forming a quick string of three hand seals. As chakra leaked from within his body, it formed layers across his skin, and began to harden into jet black scales that covered every portion of visible skin. His hair remained, although his eyes and mouth adopted a bright glow from within, and his pupils had disappeared entirely. What was visible of his teeth had sharpened, and his ears were elongated, completing the cosmetic changes of the technique. Once the technique’s effects had been completed, another technique was activated, although it was unknown to Verdandi at the time.

Are you sure you wanna put it all on the line for stakes as high as that? He said, his voice distorted by the chakra circulating around him, mocking the severity of consequence for the loser. A glowing smirk grew on his face as she added the stipulation that the stronger of his techniques wouldn’t be allowed for this makeshift competition.

Why delay the inevitable? You’re gonna lose either way, I could save us some time and make it quick! Takao shouted after her as he came to a crouch at the edge of the mountain overlooking the valley hosting their prospects. Plumes of flame began to crackle and pop behind his shoulder blades and hands, indicating the usage of Burning Ambition, in preparation for his descent. They erupted into powerful jets that propelled him forward, rocketing into an arc before he landed mere seconds later amidst the camp of undesirables. They had noticed the spark of flames just before he had landed, yet the speed in which he acted outpaced them by leaps and bounds.

Muninn slid from his sleeve with a shrill rasp as two immediately began an assault against the scale-clad shinobi, despite their brief hesitation upon laying eyes on the strange creature. One was armed with a curved blade and the other wore strips of riveted metal over his knuckles, the latter approaching first with the other following close behind. More were already approaching and following suit, but the aforementioned posed an immediate threat. The first to reach Takao swung a well-practiced combo of three jabs. The first two of the three were evaded with effortless head movements, whilst the third landed square on his jaw. Despite the force behind the punch, it did no damage to his face, and didn’t even move his head. Takao swung his left arm up and caught the arm, turning his back to the man as he positioned one leg behind the man’s, kicking upward to force his balance onto a single leg before rolling him across his shoulder and throwing him to the ground. With a firm grasp on the man’s wrist, Takao turned and snapped the thin bones with a hard twist, and then slammed the sole of his boot onto his face. He hadn’t been killed by the force, yet the damage was enough to incapacitate him with ease.

The next to approach him swung the katana in his grasp with practiced precision and skill. Takao briefly shifted into a defensive role as he backed away, ducked under, and maneuver around the slashes. The cuts that would have otherwise hit their mark clashed with the blade of Muninn instead, and were parried and deflected away. As his assailant swung down vertically, Takao’s arm swung up and caught the blade, swiping it to the side as his weight shifted to his left leg and his right rose. He rotated on his hips and thrust the heel of his boot forward, administering a powerful jet of Burning Ambition’s flame to augment the speed and power. His foot collided with the man’s chest, and despite the armour he wore, Takao could feel the crackle of bones snapping within before he was sent tumbling away.

Come on, boys! Let’s make some ffuckin’ grass grow! Takao howled, and then laughed. Some of the others that had previously been charging were brought momentary pause, yet it lasted only an instant before they encroached on the scale-clad shinobi once more. With a wicked grin, he prepared to intercept.

Name: Dragon Art: Body of Scales (Ryūdō: Sukēru no bodi ~ スケールのボディ)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: A
Type: Defensive
Element: n/a
Range: Self
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration
Description: Body of Scales is a technique that requires three hand seals (Tiger → Rat → Dragon). Upon completion, the user bleeds chakra from their tenketsu, which harden in layers over the user's skin. This hardened chakra takes on the appearance of jet black scales, and cover the entirety of the user's body within a single post. The user sustains additional changes to their body as well: their ears are elongated, their eyes lose their pupil and iris and instead glow white, and their mouths glow a similar white while their teeth become sharp. These changes are cosmetic and serve no purpose beyond the aesthetic of the technique. These layers of scales are heavy, reducing the user's speed by -2 tiers. However, in return they grant superior protection, and allow the user to withstand up to two S-Rank, three A-Rank, and four B-Rank techniques, as well as an indefinite number of techniques of C-Rank and below.
Name: Fire Release: Burning Ambition (Katon: Atsuho Hōfu ~ 火遁・熱歩抱負)
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary-Offensive
Element: Fire Release
Range: User
Specialty: Ninjutsu-Taijutsu
Duration: Maintainable
Cooldown: Duration
Description: Fire Release: Burning Ambition is a fire release technique that heavily augments the user's mobility using high-speed ejection of high pressure fire akin to jet propulsion, allowing them to move at speeds up to an additional +30m/s of their maximum burst speed. These jets can manifest anywhere on the user, allowing them to quickly dodge attacks or rapidly maneuver themselves within a 3d space as opposed to 2d. When used to climb vertically, the user is only capable of reaching heights of 30 meters above the ground before the propulsion becomes unstable and too difficult to control. This is not sustained flight, however, as it only occurs in bursts. It can also be used to quickly increase the speed of a strike depending on where the jets are manifested. Although not the intended purpose of the technique, the plumes of flames produced by the jets can inflict moderate first degree burns and set fabric alight on contact. Each post that this technique is used reduces the user's speed by 1 tier (up to -2 tiers after 2 posts) for 2 posts after the technique is ended.

By the time Takao started off his nasty rumble bumble. Verd had taken care of three guards the old-fashioned way. Bleeding out while keeping their mouth shut was an effective but slow process. She knew she wouldn't be able to win the competition this way but she ought to take it easy for a start. While her dragon friend started to beat shit up, he obviously attracted most of the camps attention. Just as expected. Dandi exhaled and concentrated, splitting herself up as she formed two shadow clones and felt how the divide quickly sucked her chakra pool into three pieces as well.

The merc's were mostly moving in group of 3-6 people. She could feel around a total of 100 or a bit more lurking around the place. If she wanted to have a chance on getting ahead of the dragon she'd have to show off her almost endless arsenal of techniques. He could probably wreck the same damage with only a few of his own given his advanced… experience. Verd wanted to say advanced age but he wasn't around so she could mock him properly, making the whole trolling a bit useless. The Verdandi Squad of three nodded to each other and moved in different directions. The real Verdandi would come from the south towards Takao's position in the north. While a clone each would branch out to the side-lines to get behind east and west squadrons. The alarm of the camp sounded. As expected Takao's actions did explode over the whole camp.

Verdandi patiently followed the south, east and west troopers until they each neatly. Formed themselves into a good group of 10-12 heading for Takao. At one point she deemed their group sizes large enough. Verdandi started to intervene. Coming into view on either of them and starting to rile them up with simple techniques and get them properly angry.

South patrol, Verdandi's main body would form the seals to raise a multitude of frost created birds. Either of them raising into the air and attacking the enemies from behind. Cutting 1/4 inch deep into their backs and slicing into either their armor or straight into their skin.

East patrol, Clone one would do the same in fuuton style. Inhaling once deeply to get the air into its system before shooting air bullets into the mass, causing lacerations at 1/4 inch deep cuts all over the enemy skin and armor.

West patrol, Clone two would do the same in suiton style. Sending three water palm blade strikes that would hit 5-6 of the targets ahead, slicing 3/4 inch cuts into their backs and armor. Leaving few of them to scream in pain.

Each group would realize that the skull-masked hunter that had attacked them would charge past them and then suddenly change directions. Moving towards the centre of the battlefield and hence a bit away from Takao's concentrated mass of attention. By the time the merc's had realised that they were just one of three groups experiencing basically the exact same fate, it was already too late.

Verdandi had gathered almost 40 of the enemy troops in the central plane. Some of them throwing kunai and shuriken her way as she and her clones stood on the top of wooden poles looking down on their prey. The projectiles easily parried with some simply counter-shuriken from Verdandi's wide arsenal of own projectiles in her weaponry boxes at her belt. As the three Verdandi's started to all form a rather long series of hand-seals. The multitude of them started to realize that they were not in a very good position. Chakra was building around them from all sides and they started to run back trying to escape what was obviously coming for them. But it was far too late. All three Verdandi's had their chakra ready. Water. Wind. Ice. Perfectly timed to create a combo that was devastating an lethal.

West patrol, Clone two hit the ground and unleashed Archerfish upon the almost 40 soldiers. A large wave of water suddenly summoned into existence. Splashing over the lot of them in a 20 cubic meters area before gravity would spread the water all over them.

South patrol, Verdand's main body, hit the ground just as clone two had jumped aside. Casting her favourite kind of technique, ice spears. With the intense amount of water available, the spears would grow quickly from the ground below. Instantly freezing the first 5 meter of impact before the whole extending water started to freeze. Making the floor beneath the people slippery with the natural properties of ice. While Verdandi herself retreated from impact, she could see the spears erupting from the ground and cutting their massive spikes into the bodies of her enemies.

East patrol, Clone one hit the ground to deliver the finishing move. The spikes had been strategically raised on the outer rim of the water field. Trapping the merc's within the icy plane of deadly spikes. Cutting into the bodies of anyone daring to try and leave the field. Until the wind using clone impacted into the centre. Unleashing a vacuum wave within the first 5 meters before it extended its blade up to 10. Verdandi made sure that the wave was exhaled at average height of 'throat' level. She could see how the blast of wind instantly cut 3 inches deep in most of her enemy's throats.

The merc's at Verd's mercy had been clashed wet with water. Impaled by ice, their wet skin was slowly freezing as the Hyouton's reaction wouldn't stop on creeping up their bodies. Despite it being brittle and weak, if they didn't move it'd still freeze their bodies into cold frost clad humans. Their throats bleeding out slowly to the ground. Verd and her two clones unsheathing their blades. Moving into the masses to murder anyone left alive that somehow still avoided lethal damage. Putting an end to the 38 soldier's life's. That being done she added the 3 she stealth-killed earlier. "41" she spoke to herself, grinning beneath her mask as she and her clones jolted forth, back into direction of Takao where probably the rest of the camp was to be about.

1060 / 2660

Chakra 195/350:

Main Body: 65 Chakra
Clone 1: 65 Chakra
Clone 2: 65 Chakra

Name: Shadow Doppelganger Technique (Kage Bunshin no Jutsu)
Origin: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Element: None
Range: The clone can be created up to 6 meters away from the user.
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Until all clones are dispersed
Cooldown: Three posts after clones are dispersed.
Description: Shadow Doppelganger Technique creates up to 4 clones of the user. Unlike the regular Bunshin, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each one an equal fraction of the user's overall power. Because they are created this way, even the Sharingan and Byakugan can't distinguish them from the original. The user of this technique must form a hand sign to create the clones, they cannot form them simply by will. The clones will be created in roughly the same physical condition as the original (wounds and buffs/debuffs/special effects present on the user are copied over upon creation); also, the user must equally divide their chakra among the clones, potentially using up all their chakra quickly if the user is low on chakra or makes too many clones. The clones are capable of performing techniques on their own and can even bleed. They can also disperse on the user's whim. A characteristic that is unique to the Shadow Clone Technique is that any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. This makes the technique ideal for spying, since the user can simply send a clone to spy on a target, then have the clone disperse itself without returning to pass the information back to the user. Anomalistically, Kagebunshin are immune to the paralytic effects of Genjutsu B-rank and below. The user regains the chakra the clone had if and only if s/he disperses it of his/her own will; it takes a 1 post prep to disperse.

When you create a shadow clone, your chakra is divided among it/them. For example, let's say you're a Chuunin with max chakra. Your current chakra, 200, would be reduced by 20 for the cost of the jutsu; you want to make 4 clones, so your chakra is divided by 5 (you + 4 clones). This gives each clone a fifth of your chakra. So, each clone would have 36 chakra. Being that they are shadow clones, they are each able to perform jutsu themselves; they have their own separate chakra pool, and also follow their own cooldowns for jutsu. Each Shadow Clone has a reserve of stamina; their individual chakra is reduced by an amount appropriate amount to the damage done (E-10, D-15, C-20, B-25, A-30, S-35). The clone automatically disperses when it runs out of chakra, or when hit by any attack that can cause a noteworthy level of physical damage [second/third degree burns, broken bones, stab wounds, etc] If the original uses a technique before creating the shadow clones, the remaining cooldown on the technique applies to all clones created.

Name: Ice Release: Swallow Snow Strike (Hyouton: Hitori-Kari)
Origin: Library / Canon
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Element: Hyouton
Range: 5m radius
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 3
Cool-down: 4
Chakra: 15
Description: The user creates 8 needles which take the shape of razor winged ice-like birds and hurl them at the target. Each needle is only capable of cutting 1/4 inch deep into an opponent. But for 2 turns they seek out their opponents relentlessly within the radius of 5m, intending to deal potentially dozens of lacerations over their entire body. Each of the birds can be destroyed by a single basic strike of B rank strength or higher or by any jutsu of C rank or higher which make contact with the birds. The birds travel at 20mp/s and can turn on a one meter radius, or can stop to fly in place to turn sharply. The knack to this technique lies within the number of projectiles rather in their power.

Name: Wind Release: Air Bullets (Fūton: Kazejuugan)
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 30 metres
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: A technique where the user fires a barrage of condensed bullets of air. The user forms the bird hand seal, condensing their chakra into several pressurised spheres of wind that the user spits out in rapid succession towards the opponent. These air bullets are transparent spheres, and are roughly 4 inches in diameter. When fired, they travel at roughly 10 m/s. Direct impact by one of these spheres will knock the victim back a meter, tear through light clothing and cause 1-inch cuts at the point of contact. If a bullet passes near the target (within 4 inches from the edge of the bullet), it can leave small lacerations (1/4 inch cuts) on any exposed flesh it comes near. Three bullets are created upon activation, which must be fired in rapid succession. Each additional bullet costs -5 chakra each, with a maximum of 6 that can be fired in total within the duration.

Name: Certain-Kill Ice Spears (Hissatsu Hyōsō )
Origin: Library / Canon
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Hyouton
Range: 10-50m
Speciality: Ninjutsu
Duration: 1
Cool-down: 5
Chakra: 20
Description: The user concentrates an intense amount of hyouton based chakra into the ground below. The area can be chosen while casting the technique. It can either be 50 meters in a direct path forward or within a 10 meter radius around the user.

The hyouton chakra only takes a mere second to form beneath the surface. As the type of attack-field is chosen, spikes start to erupt from the ground at 30mp/s. These large and scary ice spears are 5m long and 1/2m thick in their mass. When they come in contact with their target, the spike can cut up to 2 inches deep into their target and every wound will cause minor 1st degree tissue damage in form of frostbite.

Deep Freeze: This technique is extremely cold. When in contact with water or suiton, the hyouton chakra causes said water to instantly freeze into ice within a 5 meter radius around collision impact and then continues to freeze the remaining body of water as usual. This ice has no specific effect other than it's natural properties. The interaction powers against suiton remain exactly the same.

Name: Wind Release: Vacuum Wave (Fūton: Shinkūha ~ 風遁・真空波)
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 20 meters
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 5 posts
Description: The user takes a deep breath and spins as they exhale, compressing the released air into a solitary blade of wind. As it moves outward, it expands, covering a substantial area around the user (blade is 5 meters wide, grows to 10 meters by the end of the jutsu's radius). The resulting blast is large enough to cause grievous injuries to those at even the outer edges of the jutsu's radius. The wind-blade can cut up to 3 inches deep, capable of cutting into bone if it hits the target(s) at point-blank range.

Whilst Verdandi attacked her quarries systematically utilizing stealth, Takao had taken an approach that left the masses to congregate upon his position. For the sake of the mission, it hadn’t been the best idea. But for the competition between them, it granted Takao a larger pool that was considerably more convenient to play with.

Three approached on the left and two on the right, while a sizable hoard built at his back and the thickest of the crowd lay spread out before him in front. His scaley grin grew wide as two out of the three on his left appeared first, and he began the slaughter with their engagement. One swung a blade horizontally at him and caught the scales on his left arm. His right arm thrust forward, and the immaculate blade of Muninn pierced through his body like it was warm butter. Sanguine fluids spilled from his chest as the blade soared effortlessly through flesh, bone, and organ alike, tearing his innards to shreds as Takao twisted the blade and sliced down and out. Before the freshly bloodied corpse could fall to the ground, Takao’s leaped from the ground and slammed both feet into his chest, sending him flying into the second assailant that threatened him.

A jet of flame erupted from Takao’s left hand and right foot, which twisted his body into a violent spiral. He landed on his feet, and another pair of jets manipulated his path with masterful control. The scale-clad shinobi appeared in front of the third opponent on his left and caught him by surprise with superior speed, allowing his blade to slide cleaning through three-quarters of his neck. Meat and bone alike were rend from his body, and fresh sprays of blood began to coat the sands. The usage of jets began to grow in frequency as Takao projected himself from one opponent to the next in seconds, slicing through their bodies with ease before moving onto the next.

Each kill earned was counted aloud with volume enough for those around him to hear, acting as a simple demoralizing tactic as the armed men watched their compadres fall in droves. Geysers of sand erupted behind Takao in thin lines as he tread back and forth, zipping from one enemy to the next.

A line of ten men or so began to form, and Takao engaged them eagerly. He appeared before the first utilizing the jets of Burning Ambition, and ducked under the swing. His boot swung forward with incalculable speed utilizing those same jets and caught the man under his jaw, sending him a few feet in the air. Had Takao utilized more force, he could have sent him farther, but the power was calculated. As he staggered in the air from the force of the kick and the next of the ten approached, Takao reached into his hip pouch with his left hand and retrieved a slip of paper. He slammed it into the chest of the first man, then rotated his body on his left leg and slammed his right foot back into his stomach, utilizing yet another jet to augment the power and send him flying into the other nine. The force had hit his solar plexus with enough power to render him unconscious as the tag ignited and erupted, rending limbs from body and turning his own worn arsenal into shrapnel that decimated the nine around him.

A ghostly, chittering laugh built within his agape and glowing maw as he eyed the remainder of the mission’s quarry. Several bodies littered the sands, and those that remain were certainly hesitant to engage the scale-clad creature that tore through their numbers with reckless abandon. Damage to morale was an important part of large-scale conflict when one’s own numbers paled in comparison,

The distinct, jet-like crackle of Burning Ambition began to sound as another flurry of attacks began. If they wouldn’t attack, then it was his turn to be on the offensive. He zipped across the body-laden battlefield and engaged another nameless face amidst countless others, and used the scales upon his body to slap away his weapon while Muninn carved a valley through his neck. Then he zipped to the next and sliced through him before his weapon could be fully raised, allowing innards to spill out from the portion of his stomach that had been rend open. Takao continued with his pattern of using Burning Ambition to close the gap between himself and whichever quarry he targeted before Muninn ripped through them with frustrating ease.

He had lost count of how many foes lay slain by his hand. Although he was taking the competition seriously, as the thought of competition drove him to heights that no other challenge could, the rush of adrenaline coursing through his body kept his mind honed in on the task at hand. Had his body not been on auto-pilot, he might have even forgotten to breathe. Yet despite this, well over half of the enemies laid slain by his hand and blade by the time Verdandi had culled her’s. He hadn’t seen it, nor did he care to, for he was far too caught up in his own bouts to split his attention elsewhere. There were more enemies to be culled, and he was set on doing it without the usage of wide area-affecting techniques.

Takao dug into his backside pouch once more and retrieved a trio of the same explosive tags as he had used earlier. As one assailant approached him, howling out a warcry and swinging his blade down earthward, Takao’s arm shot forward and caught it in the inside of his elbow. His arm flexed and trapped it in the joint protected by the scales as his left hand shot forward and slapped the explosive tag across his mouth. His cries of distress were muffled and then silenced when a jet of flame erupted from Takao’s bound elbow and his flat palm slammed into his face, sending him rolling across the sand with a broken nose and several broken teeth. They had learned from his earlier maneuver and quickly abandoned their comrade, spreading out far enough for the explosion to be harmless to them while their brother-in-arms was reduced to red mist. Yet as the man struggled before the explosion had been set off, Takao was already on the move again, striking down three more men and planting explosive tags on two others before the paper had erupted.

Verdandi and clones had left a rather large mess of water, ice and corpses. When she enclosed Takao's location however she could see that the creep was slicing his way through his enemies as if they were paper. Verd would never admit to it but she was jealous at the display of such raw power. Promising herself that she might end up that kind of a fearsome dragon just like him. Pouting to herself to think about the effort she had to put in slaughtering all these nerds. A group of nine enemies was but just ahead of Verdandi. Seeing as the battle was about to be over. Verd fired a flare from her position, it was but only her way of contacting Avalanche for a pick-up. She didn't want to mess around her much longer than necessary and according to her list. There was another dozen mission to go about before this week ended. Verdandi had to somehow stop those nine preys before they basically ran to the sacrificial block of Takao's palm. So Dandi realized that this would begin to be some sort of fishing contest on how to grab a hold of them before they could basically offer their worthless lives to the dragons kill counter. That had to be changed. Verdandi would snipe them down one by one. Luckily, she had the numbers to do so considering the clones at her side. Allowing her to cause more damage in shorter time frame. Eventually cheating her way to this win.

Thousand water needles of death would howl at the enemy lines at the back. The first three enemies would fall. The shadow clone that casted the technique staying behind to slaughter the wounded prey before dispersing herself into thin air. The real Verdandi meanwhile loaded her blade with the Hyouton chakra to surround it with the nasty frostbite damage of Cold-Stream-Cut. As she could overtake the enemy, her first two slices would hit them into their back and the open wounds would leave them to scream loud as the Hyouton started to eat their flesh and burn its way through their skin with the major second-degree frostbite. Until the last bunch of enemies would receive the cold-stream-cut by Verd swinging her blade towards their legs and letting the frostbite catch their feet and legs to the point they would all stumble down and drop to the floor. The clone was already finishing off the victims of the first freezing attack, dispersing slowly as well to leave Verdandi's real body to finish her slaughter. Activating the saw-button on her sword, Verd would cut through the wounded men with the bleeder-blade and leave their corpses as display of what happens if you swing a saw-like weapon two dozen times over the bodies of defenceless enemies. Considering all that. Verdandi would quickly find herself standing quite close next to Takao whom had punched his way through his enemies up until here. Probably having the exact same kill count as her by now. She gave him quite the stern look as she sheathed her blade and slowly walked over to him to see what he was doing. Kicking her heels into the various bodies of basically finished off men just in case she could still kill someone with her feet to reclaim one of Taco's kills as one of her own to turn the tide. The last enemy seemed to be sitting here anyway now. Already coming to terms with his fate.

Verdandi would stare at Takao. If she heard him correctly he just said fifty as he took down his last victim. The scaley boy standing now before the smaller Verdandi, the last enemy kneeling a bit to their right begging for mercy. While most likely neither of the two even considered about letting him go hey both realized that killing him would finish the competition once and for all and determine the winner. Verdandi would look at Takao. Back at the guy. Back at Takao. Back at the guy. Their hands hovering in the air as if they were in some sort of wild west stale mate and it was about to come down on whom pulled their weapon first to shoot down the other and finish this all for good. But before either of them could actually pull the trigger. Avalanche happened. The bear jumped right down on the spot. His claws digging into the mans shoulder and his jaw biting into his neck, ripping a large portion of flesh from it to leave him to instantly bleed to death. Verdandi watched how her companion had slain the final enemy and she chuckled to herself. "I'm gonna count that one as a kill for me, TWAT." She teased Takao. Slowly running up to grab hold of the polar bears fur and quickly swing herself on his back. She would slowly lower her mask for a second to give Takao a slight wink. "Mhmmm it was a pleasure fighting with you here, Dragon…" she smirked and winked before placing the mask back onto her face. "Farewell darling, see you soon <3"

Name: Water Release: Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death (Suiton: Sensatsu Suishō)
Origin: Canon / Library
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Suiton/Water
Range: 0-5 meters from target
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 2
Cooldown: 5
Description: Using this technique, the user gathers some water from the air and surrounding environment into exactly one thousand long needles. He/She then directs them to a specific target at high speed, leaping backwards before impact so he/she does not get caught in the crossfire. The needles surround the target in a three meter radius from all sides except for the top, allowing a two-second time frame for the target to escape by jumping at least  The user can perform this jutsu with one-handed seals, allowing him/her to pin an opponent's arm and attack while they cannot use any techniques themselves.   The needles themselves are 8 inches in length and are able to move up to high speeds, capping at 30 m/s.  The needles can penetrate 3/4 inch into the targets skin.

Name:  Ice Release: Cold-steam Cut (Hyouton: Himoya-Kizu)
Origin: Library / Custom
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Hyouton
Range: 12m radius
Specialty: Bukijutsu
Duration: 1
Cool-down: 5
Chakra: 20
Description: The user readies their weapon and flows chakra down the length of it. Said hyouton chakra proceeds to freeze down far below zero as much as almost minus fifty degree. It then flows over the blade and lingers at it's surface. Already being dangerous like that. It can however not be maintained and has to be thrown from the blade by the end of the first post or it'd vanish and dissolve on it's own again. During the post however, one is allowed to swing the blade with said enchantment giving it's frostbite powers to the blade.

Eventually swinging the weapon around themselves once, while triggering the technique to release, turns the user into the epicenter of the technique and the chakra is exhaled away from the center in a 360° radius around the user. It basically looks like the user suddenly extends their blade for up to 12 meters within the technique. But actually the wave that is exhaled from the epicenter travels at 25mp/s forward until it ends at it's 12 meter reach and isn't longer than 1m and not thicker than the blade itself. However, since it takes a very short time for the wave to reach it's target it is often mistaken as some sort of ghost-blade extension.

Anything that comes in contact with the ghost-blade wave will suffer from the hyoutons sub-zero frostbite effect in form of a major 2nd degree tissue damage.

The bloodshed was beginning to wind down as fewer bodies remained standing, and the piles around him began to stack on top of one another. Stragglers remained, either too scared to flee, too dumb to realize they were outmatched, or perhaps even trying to cash in on the possibility that he would grow tired and they might be able to end the creature tearing through them with absurd brutality. Regardless of their reasons for staying and lingering in the brutalized campsite, their fate ultimately remained the same. Their maker eagerly awaited them in the heavens above.

His breath had become laboured, admittedly even though he did his best to keep it hidden, from the non-stop violence wrought upon the previously unsuspecting encampment of miscellaneous “baddies”. The process of maintaining two techniques in the midst of engaging a myriad of opponents was not only draining on his body, but his mind as well. Takao hardly noticed in the moment, but the first tastes of fatigue began to flavour his mouth. He hadn’t paced himself in the slightest, and not only gone from zero to eighty in mere seconds flat, but maintained that momentum for the entirety of the time. His method was like a freight train without a conductor; he just kept going until the violent end. The animal trapped in the body of a man hardly knew any better.

The battle had raged on for longer than it felt. After what he had assumed to be mere moments since his initial landing, the blunted blade of Muninn carved its way through the flesh of the second-to-last of their assailants. As the edge ripped flesh and muscle rather than slicing cleanly through, the man before him bellowed out horrific, numbing screams and wet gurgles of pain. Blood filled his lungs and left his mouth spewing warm, sanguine geysers until the howls in his last throes of death faded. His glowing gaze shifted sidelong to Verdandi, and the agape maw under similar glowing effects parted slowly, exhaling a hoarse exhale clouded by the effects of the technique. Before words could escape, his attention was stolen away by the lone survivor of the slaughter. He was on his knees, begging for mercy. Takao could see the last, fading glint of hope shimmer in his eyes. Perhaps, in his head, he expected them to make him an offer to not tell anybody what happened, and they would let him live. Surely nobody would believe two lone shinobi would lay waste to such a large force so easily, and thus the secrets of their massacre would go unbelieved even if he did. But deep down, Takao knew that the man could not be so naïve. The events that had unfolded should have been clear indication that there were going to be none left alive. It was the desperate attempts of a man who knew his death approached, and he could do nothing to prevent it.

Whatever you say, Princess. I let you win anyway. I’m not one for insulting l̷̤̎ị̸͊t̷͓̑t̸͎͂l̴͕̆e̸̗͗ ̶̭̄g̷̪͛i̸̺̓r̷̹̋ḷ̷̓s̶̕. Takao said in his hoarse, distorted voice. A cheeky grin grew on his scale-clad face, and his gaze slipped away from her in favour of eyeing the aftermath of their efforts.

No use in leaving an entire camp of evidence. As the words finished leaving his mouth, air was inhaled and flooded his lungs. Chakra seeped into the organ effortlessly, and a raging flame built within his body. As Takao exhaled, a tsunami of flame spilled forth from his agape maw. The fire crawled across the sands, consuming everything in their path. What could be reduced to ash was, and what couldn’t was instead hardened and melted into twisted, perverted sculptures of glass. The wave of flame overtook the battlefield and consumed all of the bodies within, leaving behind nothing but ash and glass when the fire finally subsided. His eyes lingered on the fields of flame that lingered, and examining his handiwork with a primordial sense of pride.

Verdandi slightly pouted at his condescending voice. But she knew he was just pulling her leg and making sure that she wouldn't get too cocky with him. Verdandi however wasn't the type to be too serious about this. To imply that she really believed that she could win on equal grounds would be an insult to her intelligence. Verd didn't try to hide how she admired the view of the flames, the glow in her masked eyes would glimmer alike in her healthy pupil. Was it odd for a child born within ice and cold to be longing for the wild, untameable freedom of fire? The flames had a special meaning to Verdandi. All he life had she been drawn to the warmth that can melt her. Drawn to the power that was able to render her country to ashes. Drawn to the chaotic way it could spread and have a will on its own. Ice was steady. Frost could be exhaled like flames. It could burn like flames. It could even eat away flesh and make it rot like flames. While fire would eat away nature, wood to grow into chaos, ice would do the same on water. Spread like an illness until there was nothing left to consume. The eternal duality of both was beautiful. Verdandi would take this view to her heart as Takao cleaned up the mess they had left behind. Giving him a wink as she finally made her way out and about. Leaving for good.

As Takao turned back to Verdandi, glowing globules of molten spit were rubbed off of his chin with the back of his hand. The little show of power was unnecessary, generally speaking, but did give some context regarding whom might have won had powers not been restricted. Beyond that, it left plenty to the imagination regarding what exactly transpired in the blood-stained valley of sand and glass. There was a skirmish, that much one might discern, but the scale of it would go truly unknown to all those sans the pair that remained to bear witness to the bloodshed.

The pleasure was mine. He responded in kind, grunting gutturally at her wink and words of departure.

Finally, Takao released the chakra that bound his scales to body, and let them fade away into nothingness. A breath of relief filled his lungs and evacuated in a smooth sequence. Even if the air was stained with the stench of death, it felt good to shed his armour. As Takao ran a hand through his hair, his free hand rose to wave to Verdandi.

“‘Til we meet again then, Princess.”
