Mission name: Dungeon Excavation
Mission rank: B-Rank
Location: Heidel (Mizu no kuni border)
Reward: 500 Ryo
WC Requirement: 2'500
Objective: Explore, cleanse and rescue.
Mission Description: The Excavation team that has been working on the lower, sealed levels of the Heidel dungeon has not returned from their shift. The guards that were supposed to keep them safe are also missing. The guard captain Skuld Yuki of Heidel's armed forces, has hired you in official matters to go down, find out what's going on, rescue anyone possible for rescue and resolve any potential threats with any force necessary.

Mission Details: Arriving in the depths of the lower levels. The ninja taking upon the task will find the remains of the guards covered in blood and sting marks. The further thy go down into the dungeon the more little threats will start to attack the human intruders. Wolves, Snakes and Scorpions. Within the depths and following the trail of blood will lead towards a rather obviously, web covered nest of spiders. These huge frost spiders are powerful and deadly. They have webbed up the excavation team members. Most of them are still alive, being preserved for later consumption. Trying to free them will awake the spider mother.

Enemies: The about 12 little monsters along the way are all easy D-Rank beasts. The huge spiders, counting easily up to 15 are all B-Rank beasts with natural weapons of equal rank. The spider mother is insanely large and counts as an A-Rank beast, while neither of the targets are shinobi, the spiders can spit venom that equals a B-Rank boil jutsu damage. All enemy stats are X-1.
3500 WC and 5 Replies needed for A-Rankup Req.

Verdandi move out from Skuld's office after the briefing. It has been a while since the Captain of the Heidel guards was concerned enough about a problem to actually offer a bounty for its completion. Verd ensured her sister that she shall not worry no more. Keep her guards at a safe distance away from the Dungeon entrance and just make sure that her men are safe. Verdandi had personally seen to clear out the upper levels of the extensive Heidel Dungeon. The twenty first levels now served as storage and training or meditation chambers. Guards kept those levels clear but the dungeon below the first twenty levels had been buried beneath stones. The excavation team and the guards had made extraordinary discoveries on their way to level thirty, their excitement to unravel even more treasures in the long-lost caverns of the dungeon was pressuring them to move on further until eventually they found themselves with company. Verdandi had encountered a few unruly monstrosities when she cleaned out the upper floor back then. So, it was to no surprise for her that the lower floors held similar dark creatures. But to actually kill a Heidel guard… she didn't expect it to say at least. The creatures lurking there must be dangerous. On the upper floors she mostly encountered weird mutated snakes and huge rats. Molerats and some insects. Nothing to be too frightened of. But this time. Would be different… something bigger and darker was down there.

Verdandi was, despite the lurking shadow of death above the mission, in a good mood as a certain special someone was supposed to arrive and join her. She was mostly looking forward to the private time they might be able to spend together after the mission was solved. But to have found a reason that allowed her to make the Kiri administration send her darling Chi back to Heidel was something she was thoroughly excited about. Considering that he could spend quite a few weeks her afterwards… She was literally giddy about him making it to the castle. However, despite her excitement she couldn't let the mission just wait. Sending one of her shadow clones down to the pier. Verd would make sure the clone would receive Chi on his arrival and then quickly lead him to the castle and down into the dungeon scene. Dandi would be down there, removing some basic vermin from the entrance that had been attracted by the corpses of the guards. Killing the vermin with her S-Ranked Katana as to simply make sure that the new guards could move in far enough to pull out the corpses. They deserved a proper burial over rotting away down here as food for these creatures. Once Chi would arrive at the scene Verd would basically jump him. With the guards gone they would be all but left alone down here in the nasty dungeon of the castle. Smooching the living soul out of her darling was but a necessary way to say hello despite the rather unsettling surroundings.

As soon as his feet reached down to the Heidel’s docks he would rush forward to embrace his lover. He had been informed of the situation in advanced. The depths of Heidel’s dungeons filled with dangerous beasts. That this was merely a shadow clone before him did not stop him from pulling her into a sweet and passionate kiss. This meeting was much too nostalgic for him not to erupt in passion upon seeing her. It brought back memories of his first visit to this frozen kingdom. Back on his initial journey out into the storms north of the Lightning Peninsula, and his eventual shipwreck and rescue by Verdandi’s family. It brought all those sweet memories back into the forefront of his mind. After the moment ended he would walk hand in hand with her shadow clone, being lead into the Heidel’s castle. It wouldn’t be long until he and the shadow clone Verdandi had created would arrive down in at the dungeon entrance.

He had adapted to the colder climate of Heidel and the Land of Snow now by adopting a thick furred jacket, lined on the inside with lamb skin It wrapped upwards into a pleasant furry collar, and especially as they left the docks he would take comfort in the warmth from his outfit. His last journeys to Heidel had left him too chilled to the bone for him not to wear some seriously warm clothing now. The fur felt so nice too, so it was more than worth shelling out a little extra to get it all. As soon as he met back up with the true Verdandi though warmth wasn’t something he needed to worry about. He would stumble back as she jumped at him, although he would catch her and return all her affection in the forms of kisses all over her face. Once he had his hands on the real thing again he completely forgot about the shadow clone of Verdandi, who presumably would just watch the two of them make out in the corner. Hopefully, it didn’t get jealous.

“It’s so good to see you again, Darling~” He would laugh as he stood up straight with her, catching his balance again after all their joyous affection. “It’s been much too long since I’ve been with you here. It feels so good to get a breath of fresh air too, and a different environment...” Eventually, their embrace would come to an end, and Chigetsu would take a step back from his lover. “I heard there was a problem with monsters down in your dungeon though. Spiders and snakes and wolves?” He would smirk while glancing down at the corpses of the vermin that she had made short work of. “Is there anything dangerous down there, you think? Or just more pests like these all here?” He would kick the corpse of a rat that Verdandi had killed earlier across the room, almost as if to make a point. He clearly wasn’t taking the mission all too seriously. “Once we do a quick search of what’s down there, why don’t we take it easy and rest up in one of your baths?” It seemed like there was something else he would much rather be doing with Verdandi instead.

Verdandi squeezed her little cute snuggle butt lover hard and made sure he’d feel how much she had missed being with him these last few weeks. She blushed thickly as they were making out and the clone dispersed just to send the memory of Chi’s first kiss back in her head. Leaving her to giggle as they were smooching like, well teenagers basically. Once the whole sweet ordeal came to a stop or at least once Verd’s lips felt sated, for a moment, she’d inhale once deeply to not let her desires distract herself from the task at hand. He was right indeed. If they could deal with the situation in a timely manner then there would be plenty of time for them to relax and lewd around on their own accord. Verd glared down at the rat he kicked about and made sure to check her gear once more, feeling the need to be ready for what’s down there despite the obviously easy nature of the task. Her latest massive increases in chakra and power had left her a bit overconfident at times. She was trying to not let it get to her head. After all, a single moment of distraction could still proof to become her ungraceful end if she wasn’t attentive. She nodded once more lost in thought and slowly inhaled one deeply. Senjutsu chakra surrounded her frame and glowed, invisible to the naked eye of Chi but he could still feel an unusual cold aura surrounding her.

She was attuning her sensors. Senjutsu sensory was yet something she was still trying to figure out properly, but during her training she had already gotten a taste of its powerful detection abilities. Her ears attuned to the audio sensory item of her earrings. Allowing her to spy into the depths of the dungeon of up to 150 meters into the distance. She undid the body seal keeping her Sharingan dormant and glared down to see various chakra signatures ahead of them. While beasts and civilians’ guards had only faint chakra signatures due to their lack in talent to manipulate their own inner energies, Verd could clearly see what most likely must have been the ‘end boss’ of this endavour right from where she was standing already. Taken away a certain angst over what was waiting for them. Verdandi shared her insights with Chi.

“There’s like a dozen creatures waiting for us and one with a rather significant chakra. We should be heading for it. It seems like I can sense the faint remains of the guards and workers we are looking for nearby it anyway. Let’s get this over with quickly and professional. Then we can jump into the baths. I made a bigger inside the castle, hihi…”

Verdandi grinned with another faint blush on her cheeks. Grabbing Chi’s palm once more. Her other hand pulling Kurosawa from its sheaths again. The legendary blade thirsting for blood and justice. Verd could feel General Mifune’s will echo through the shards of his soul imbued in her blade. Creatures of the night deserved to be sentenced for their misdeeds against the Yuki. Judgement was waiting for them.

Chigetsu would instinctively step back as he noticed the colder chakra that began to surround Verdandi. It was a distinct separation from the amount of affection that they had just been showing each other. Feeling her ice-aligned chakra usually send uncomfortable chills up his spine, but this was something different. He wasn’t used to it, and out of subconscious fear of becoming a popsicle he would keep a good distance from her. He wasn’t aware of her senjutsu training, or what senjutsu chakra really was. Chigetsu would end up only being able to watch in silenced confusion as Verdandi used her passive senjutsu sensor ability. Sensory in general, not even mentioning senjutsu, was a bit of a missing point in Chigetsu’s skill set. He had no real experience in chakra based sensing, instead either relying on his allies or using his natural senses to find the enemy. If Verdandi actually explained to him what she was doing his head might be liable to explode, as both sensory and senjutsu were just so far above his comprehension. Even now he would still eye the Sharingan that Verdandi had received suspiciously. It was something he didn’t understand, and thus he feared it.

He would be snapped out of that line of thought as she finished her sensing. A quick nod would be given in response to her status report, but all the seriousness he compiled over the last few moments would be knocked out of him once she mentioned the baths again. Immediately his face would flush over and Chigetsu would grin. His intentions in bringing up the baths were clearly displayed on his face now through the blush, and the thoughts of it were enough to give him the energy and willpower to power through this mission. He would take her hand in his, and they would both progress onwards into the dungeon.

Something began to weigh on his mind as Verdandi unsheathed her katana, and as they progressed further. There was nothing at first but a twinge down his spine, but every additional moment the weight grew heavier.  He would find himself staring at her blade from the corner of his eyes without even realizing it at first. It bothered him and he couldn’t explain why. There wasn’t anything about its appearance that betrayed its true nature but at, the same time he could feel something from it. The hairs on the back of his neck would rise up with goosebumps, and from their behind he would begin to hear the vague whispers of a conversation filled with words he could barely make out. Rather than asking about the nature of her blade, Chigetsu would keep his mouth quiet. He had never told anyone else that he heard voices from weaponry, and even had shared that it wasn’t something he truly wanted to admit to himself right now. That was over. He was done with that part of his life, where the voices of others controlled his every movement.

They would continue onward into the dungeon. Each step would bring them lower and lower into the dark depths. In this darkened and unfamiliar territory it would be easy for any other to meet the same fate as those slaughtered guards. Chigetsu and Verdandi were not the average person though, and so the dozen or so beasts that occupied the dungeon’s corridors would be noted before they could be seen, and the ambush that these monsters surely relied on would be ended before it could even start. Even without the sensory that Verdandi had he was easily able to react to them when he knew they were coming. With a point of his finger bullets would be placed cleanly into skulls, and bodies would drop right and left. These weren’t even close to a challenge. It was yet to be seen if that larger chakra source would be any trouble, but with the two of them together Chigetsu doubted that anything could be too hard.

Verdandi squeezed Chi’s palm until she eventually had to face that the snuggle huggle part was over for a moment and they had to actually concentrate on clearing this dungeon together. While the creatures within seemed to be of little threat to the two, the simple act of fighting alongside Chi was relishing and brought joy to the young ice princess. But the whispers of Mifune’s blade would crawls silently over Verd’s mind. If it had been any other spirit blade, owned by far darker persona. Verd would have long since found herself corrupted by their influence. But while it certainly took time to become used to the ever greedy will of ultimate justice in her mind, Verd couldn’t say that it was bothering her. The blade had been entrusted to her because she appeared to be a sign of a better Kirigakure. One that would cleanse its streets from its own greed and corruption. One that will put peace and justice over the desires of simple men. But the blade not only exhaled the will of the just, but also a seemingly endless craving to bring those whom defied the laws of men to their very end. Whenever Verdandi would strike her flawlessly sharp Katana through a young spiderling or a large insectoid, her eyes were glowing with joy. She used to be impartial over the act of killing whom might deserve it. She tried to avoid it but never seemed to have any moral conflicts about it at least.

But now, something had changed. The blade was whispering of reason behind extermination. It was whispering of a long-lost samurai decree. About turning your very own will into a weapon. To manifest your determination and will for justice. To see your goal and not stop or weaver from reaching it. The influence of Mifune’s will might not be corrupting her, but it was still seemingly influencing the princess more than she’d care to admit. The question was, if the influence was bad or not. Is it a bad thing to enjoy the slaughter of useless vermin? Of creatures that held little regard for the sanctity of life? Beasts that would tear anyone apart that entered their lair. Even if it was not for food. But simply to practice their very own bloodlust. Verdandi didn’t know. The princess would normally remain with a stoic expression and just cut down the creatures she was about to walk into. But the influence of this blade had her moving through the dungeon clean and without fail of leaving even a single worm behind that could pause a threat to the civilians of Heidel. The sword was powerful. The way it could cut through a whole body with a single swing of it was breath taking. Beautiful and terrifying at the same time. While the katana’s whispers were but simple exhaled notions, emotions and subtle words. Verdandi would not really be aware of the blades very presence. But the katana itself could feel that it was being watched.

It didn’t like being watched. No one was supposed to hear Mifune’s will within his blade. Chi would most likely become more and more uneasy in Kurosawa’s presence. As if there was an eye staring at the young man. The blade wondering if this unusual creature following the princess was actually able to see its spirit. But Chi had been abandoning his voices as of late. The whispers must have been faint even for his ears. The question was, if he would deny the blade’s call or would he give into his old habit and dare to listen. Meanwhile, the whole floor behind the two was but a fest of creature corpses. Verdandi was just about to stab her blade into a spider’s brain before cutting it into two once more. The mother not far away anymore. The queen could already hear and feel the intruders. Putting foot onto her webbed ground. Her many eyes glanced. She was hungry.

To say that he was beginning to feel uneasy was perhaps an understatement. It was a phantom sensation, one that wasn’t supposed to be there and he knew this very clearly. Like feeling pain from an arm that had been cut off years ago. It felt heavier and heavier, and his mind would become more sluggish. It was as if he had a fever now, almost like his body was trying to reject this foreign influence. A disease. He could feel the whispering. The influence. Even when it wasn’t directed at him. The desire. All the emotions and subtle little words and meanings. He didn’t understand it. Samurai meant nothing to him, and neither did justice. Ninja didn’t deal in justice. Weapons shouldn’t care about justice. Even if it was just beginning to seep into his unconscious he already hated what was being said, and from the opposite end it seemed to hate that he was listening as well. There was a strong friction already, between Chigetsu and this sword. Hopefully nothing would come from it. Chigetsu didn’t exactly want to begin screaming at an inanimate object in front of his lover though, especially on a mission. Still, there was something about this he couldn’t ignore.

“Verdandi?” He would stop now. His finger lowered. The mess of monsters had been cleared, and they were left with a floor full of corpses. He couldn’t hide what he was thinking very well, especially with how he was staring at the blade she was wielding. It was beautiful, in a horrible sort of way. Goosebumps went up his spine as he laid eyes on it. “Your sword. It, uh…” He would be slack jawed for a few moments, as if he had been suddenly distracted mid sentence. “What… What is it?” It was a bad question, and would probably get a weird stare from her. He didn’t really know how to ask what he wanted to ask. ‘Does your sword have some sort of evil spirit in it?’ A fine question and all that surely wasn’t strange in the slightest, but one that would lead to many other additional questions. Like how he figured out there was an evil spirit in the sword. Assuming he was even right about the sword in the first place, and wasn’t just going crazy. It was probably just his imagination again. Swords used to speak to him all the time. Why would he assume it was because of some spirit? So stupid. He wanted to smack himself right now.

He would snap out of this internal self-deprecation quickly. More important things very suddenly became apparent. Even without any sensory abilities active he could easily notice the approach of something monstrous. He was able to smell it before even seeing or hearing it, and at the scent his nose would turn and scrunch up. It was some horrible burning chemical smell that was both too sterile and seemed as though it was lathered in rotting meat at the same time. Whatever it was that produced that smell was very rapidly approaching.

Verdandi gently exhaled her breath after the utter extermination of beasts. Sliding her Katana back into its sheath where its rumbling noises that is used to make were suddenly muffled and gone again from Chigetsu’s confused mind. Verd’s eyes instantly lost their glow that they had picked up during the spirits unleash. While she could slightly feel a little headache in corner of her mind approaching, she didn’t really grasp what had happened to her. In hindsight she would have to explain it as an unusual adrenaline rush. But the sight of the dead vermin behind them didn’t really shook her much. After all, she had returned to her usual apathetic mindset about defeating enemies that needed to be beaten. In her mind, all of it was justified, but the very manner in which she had slain them, as well as the joy she felt while she brought these creatures to their justified end. None of that would be present to her awareness. It seemed like something she had yet to figure out about herself. About her fate, along with that blade in her possession. Chi’s baffled questions would be answered by the very guess of Verdandi, that her lover was just impressed by the clean cutting powers of her new weapon. It was supposedly the sharpest katana in existence after all. Verd didn’t mind to brag a bit. How it had been her gift from the Kiri administration. To be granted access to one of the many legendary weapons of the mist’s vast vault of powerful items.

Little did she know, that not Verdandi had picked this item. But the item had chosen Verdandi. After a hundred years of silence. After thousands of people had moved this very blade from one safe place to the next. After it had been travelled on its own, in the company of samurai, thief’s and even somewhat worthy shinobi. All of them had died. None of them had ever cared for justice. All of the were only looking for selfish, unreasonable power. When Verdandi’s powerful aura, combined with her pure and gentle intent had laid eyes upon the blade. Mifune once more woke from his eternal slumber. Once again. Seeing a worthy hand to wield him. But the two of them. Blade and Princess. Were not really of equal mind about what justice meant for them just yet. Verdandi was no samurai. She didn’t kill a defenseless enemy, that wouldn’t mean she followed the bushido of ancient days. She didn’t crave for power to command over others, she craved for power to protect those whom were close to her. Like Chi too. But that didn’t give her the pure and neutral idealistic of the timeless samurai of old. While their natures were similar, both the sword and the princess had different goals and desires. It’d eventually have to come to the point, where either of them tames the other and binds them eternally to their own will. If Verdandi would succeed. Would it make her stronger?

The idea of the sword enslaving Verdandi’s intent to become but a vessel for its own idea of justice was as terrifying as it was possible. But for now. The princess would remain oblivious to any of this and neither Chi could really tell what was going on. The two of them would be cut short in their talks. Even while Verd tried to explain that it was but a gift from Kiri to her and where she had gotten to pick it from, they were disturbed by the sudden appearance of what was no one else but the very chakra signature Verdandi had laid eye upon earlier with her Sharingan. The red spinning eye would once again spring to life and rotate as it gazed at the creature. Verdandi’s human eye taking in the terrifying form of the monster. But to be absolutely honest? In comparison to what she had experienced in her youth on spider island. Even in comparison to Haka’s true form. This creature wasn’t going to make the princess cower in fear. She knew she was stronger than this. The very moment it appeared and started to swing its insanely large legs towards the. Verd would easily jump back. Pulling from her back the very weapon that had always been intended to be a monster slayer. A powerful blade with insane length. Chigetsu had seen it before. Heard its soft voice singing into his ears during the days when the voices had been most brutally loud.

But this blade was gentle, as destructive as it was, it sang but a melody of serenity. A complete contrast to the Katana. It however had been reforged since Chi laid eyes upon it. It was far larger than it was in its last form. It’s metal thinner but stretches. The blade much sharper and cleaner. It required two hands to be wielded now properly. Hence Verd had to leave the mean blade in its sheath. She exhaled a loud scream of energy as she swung her Daikatana with all its powers down on the incoming arm on the huge spider. And with a large terrifying scream of the beast. Its leg would be cleanly chopped off right here and there. This one, would give them a battle at least. Chi would have to be ready to engage it together with Verd. But the mother spider wasn’t harmless either. Already preparing to spill its poison.

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Chigetsu would stop as the monster approached. A massive spider. It had shocked him, but not for the reason that it would perhaps shock a normal person. He had grown used to spiders after spending so much time at Spider Island, and in the Hansha. This wasn’t anything too out of the ordinary. He had experiences to fall back on. Even a spider of this size, screaming at him so ferociously, wasn’t enough to truly frighten him. The first time he had seen one, back at the Hansha, he had been truly afraid. He could still remember the moment. He fired off as many jutsu as he could, and as fast as possible, hoping that the beast would die or at least be scared away. That creature was different too. Not exactly a spider. It had the upper torso of a woman, with all that entailed out on display. As intimidating as spiders were, Chigetsu was much more intimidated by the idea of an angry naked woman trying to attack him. That truly was the stuff of nightmares. The acid dripping from its mouth back then didn’t really help either. The reason he was shocked though had nothing to do with the intimidation aspect. It was more of the stench. Disgusting.

Chigetsu would be caught in the swing of it’s legs. He hadn’t really bothered to dodge, what was quickly becoming a bad habit of his. He exploded into a puddle of water. He was spread all over the floor. Any other person would have died from that force, along with being wiped across the ground like a sandwich spread. He was fine though. The minor distraction of Verdandi’s sword caught his ears, and as a puddle he would listen to it’s voice. It was a gentle melody. He almost mistook it for music playing at first, before realizing fully what was really happening. It was a strange feeling that washed through him. It was weird to think about, that he was hearing voice again. Uncomfortable. He almost didn’t want to acknowledge it, but that would have been just lying to himself. He couldn’t bear to do that. As much as he thought he had kicked those voices out from his mind it seemed that he was still the same person that he always had been. The sound of this one was so incredibly pleasant. He couldn’t help but be relaxed by it. Even with the beginnings of depression sweeping through his system it felt nice to hear what this weapon was saying. Rather than paying attention to the spider, who surely thought he had been ruined by that first strike, he would instead watch the weapon in Verdandi’s hands. It was beautiful but in an incredibly sad way. The single swing of Verdandi’s blade would be enough to slice cleanly right through one of the monster’s legs. He would flinch a bit as she screamed, a dissonant shift from the gentle cooing of her blade.

From beneath, Chigetsu would point two fingers up from the puddle that he had become. From his fingers would burst out a hail of tiny water pellets. This was a technique that he had used many times before, and was quickly becoming one of his favorites. It was so easy and simple to use, firing a cone that destroyed everything in its path. Nothing would be left unscathed, as the blast was packed with an incredibly amount of force even though the individual pellets were tiny. The shotgun blast would be released up into the spider’s underside, and immediately from the force the entire creature would nearly hop upwards. Shattered carapace and disgusting blood would leak out down, and as the spider scrambled to regain its bearings it would screech in pain. Its blood seemed to be acidic to some extent, and the puddle-Chigetsu would quickly squirm out from beneath the spider and return to Verdandi’s side. It would take a second for him to convert back into a person from his puddle. Standing beside her again he would prepare to assist her in taking down this beast. He had successfully staggered it with that surprise attack from below, but it wasn’t nearly enough to permanently take the beast down. He had only delayed it. Not it was missing a leg and with a grievous wound to the underside though. If this pace kept up the monster would be hacked away at piece by piece, and it wouldn’t be long until their victory was at hand.

Still, Chigetsu was distracted. The singing of the blade was soothing. He was lost in his own mind. It greatly slowed his reaction time, and it was clearly visible from how sluggish his movements were that he wasn’t truly putting himself into this fight. “This is the monster, then? Once we kill it this should be over and done with.” His level of enthusiasm would have been obvious from his voice alone. The monster would seem to be charging up a blast of acid from its mouth again, just as it had been before Chigetsu destroyed its underside. Rather than react immediately Chigetsu would wait to follow Verdandi’s lead.

Verdandi

avatar

Verdandi watched how Chi cleanly used his most common way of confusing the enemy by basically dying. It was as always, an entertaining view to see him splash. A very soft reminder to Verd, that in a certain way he was still a rather immortal being, with weak spots yeah, but against non-ninja there was basically no way he could ever find himself in a pickle. Verd chuckled for a second. But despite the grievous wounds the creature had sustained it was not going to back down. In a short switch of forces, it was Verdandi’s turn to move in once again. But with the acid leaking from its wounds it could be seen that the green liquid was slowly sucked up through the system, a visual warning for Verd to see it coming that the spider was going to attack them with its venom. Verd shortly gave her blade a little push to hover in the air against gravity, smashing her palms together for a single hand seal and then gripping her blade once more. From her shadow, behind Verd and Chi, a large mean looking golem would appear, completely made of ice. His facial features and build-up clearly reminding of no one else but Pebbles himself. Verdandi had recently slain an S-Rank golem during the refugee missions for Heidel and used its corpse in combination of reshaping said corpse into a more Pebbles-look-alike as basis for a new ice technique. Verdandi would charge in towards the spider while the golem would follow after her.

The ground would thud heavily and loudly under the heavy mass of the ice creature. His fists moving in to push against the giant spider and try to keep it from attacking Verdandi with its legs. As Verd seemed to be charging her blade. The Daikatana suddenly would spring to life and its chainsaw ability would come into action. The second hidden blade layer would be pushed forward and start to wildly rotate over the primary blade surface. Turning the weapon into a two hander of mass destruction. With its chainsaw blade active, the passive abilities of the Daikatana would come to life. Verdandi made sure that her distance to Chi, waiting behind her would be large enough so he wouldn’t fall under the influence of her blade’s abilities. The spider was trashing and trying to crack into the golem to no avail, as it finally would spit its venom from its maw, the large Pebbles would slowly find himself coated in the acid that was melting his face away and slowly grinding down to his chest. Verdandi’s defensive technique in the golem came however with a relatively positive twist. With a simple infuse of another chakra boost, the golems head would simply grow right back, leaving the enemy under the impression that it was immortal and that they were seemingly outmatched by their enemy. That this effect could only happen once was something the beast wouldn’t have time to worry about. Large pebbles had done its deed.

With the loaded up and ready, giant two hander of a Daikatana. Verdandi would exhale her full might to slice into the already created wound of the beast. The chainsaw effect ripping through the already tortured flesh and basically cutting the spiders belly into two pieces. Letting its organs start to drop to the ground. To add insult to injury, the passive effects of the Daikatana would immediately spread on its victim. The Chillrend effect forcing itself into the spider, completely denying it any further use of the venom without proper knowledge how to untie the know in its chakra stream. The blow itself had also triggered the quick ice effect and within a 5m radius the whole area around Verdandi was instantly turned into a completely covered frozen mess. The frost that lingered would do little to the ice-born golem and Verdandi as she was immune to its effects. But the frostbite would start to gnaw at the open wounds in the spider’s body. Verd was about to give Chi another shot but it seemed rather unnecessary to extend the beasts suffering. While large Pebbles kept the creature pinned, Verd would push her blade towards the spider’s brain and finally end its torture and release it from this realm. The screams of its guttural cry for help however, had not left the dungeon without reaction. From all side’s endless numbers of little spiderling’s were swarming for the two ninja. Since most of them wanted to avoid the frost Verdandi was standing in, they clearly aimed for Chi.

Daikatana:

Name: 闇龗の牙 Kuraokami no Kiba | Frost Wyrms Fang
Weapon Type: Nodachi
Rank: S-Rank
Element: Hyōton

「 Daikatana 」

  • Basic | Damage
The Kuraokami no Kiba is a long Nodachi with an extended hilt and a unique trigger under the tsuba, a gift from the Yuki Family to Verdandi. The weapon is devastatingly sharp and is able to cut or penetrate through a whole ninja with relative ease as well as sever limbs cleanly on direct hits and break bones with its blunt strikes.

「 Dragon's Grip 」

  • Basic | Protection
The barbed dragonscale grip of the weapon, primarily made for gripping steel armor, shreds away skin if unprotected with armored hand protection, rendering the user’s hands wounded after 1 post and useless after 3, however, should an unprotected user attempt to pull the trigger and use the weapon’s abilities the violent vibrations caused by activating its teeth hastens this effect to instantly disabling the user’s hands with grievous wounds.

「 Teeth of the Frost Wyrm 」

  • Mechanical | Chainsaw
With a pull of the trigger to first pressure, the Kuraokami no Kiba reveals its hidden secret, a layered separate blade sheathed between the outer tamahagane of the first blade. When the trigger is pulled, the second blade slides forward to the surface, latent chakra in the sawblade causes 2cm long shark-tooth shaped blades out of rime to generate along its edge creating a wicked saw which rotates like a band-saw should the trigger be pulled down entirely. Blocking attacks from this weapon mode with a single hand becomes impossible without strength at least 4 tiers higher than the wielder, since the spinforce of the circular saw-blade simply kicks back the attempt and continues its path to cut into the enemy.

「 Everfrost 」

  • Passive | Quick Ice
The Kuraokami no Kiba passively generates Hyōton element through its own vibration. While the chainsaw effect is active, it'll continuously drop snow from the blade-rotors. If it remained in place it'd drop about 2cm of snow within a ½m radius from the blade itself. This snow has no other effect than to provide a usable source for ice techniques. However, if the weapon is used with two hands to smash against a solid surface or against an enemy at full power. It'd exhale a shockwave of quick-ice from point of impact over a 5m radius, extending at 45 m/s. Enemies and allies alike that are caught within the range of this effect will suffer a minor first-degree tissue damage on unarmoured body parts. The natural ice created from it has but an E-Rank durability and remains for 6 posts or until its broken. Yuki Clansmen are completely immune to the effects of this ice.

「 The Ice God’s Kiss 」

  • Passive | Chakra Bane
The latent chakra within the circular saw of the Kuraokami no Kiba is chilling to the bone, even to a user’s chakra system. Once per turn, a blow of at least ½ an inch (1.13cm) deep and 2 inches (4.5cm) wide from Kuraokami no Kiba’s teeth will cause the chill to enter the victim’s system, slowing their chakra flow within their body. Following the hit, and for a single post, the victim requires a full post preparation time to activate a technique or chakra ability, however, this could be circumvented at the cost of -10 additional chakra.

History: The Kuraokami no Kiba was developed by Ayakashis' Mother to give it to her granddaughter. Revealing itself to be yet another flawless relic of the Yuki clan Matriarch’s design, the true potential of the weapon has been unlocked with the skillful hand of the master-smith’s craft. Having moulded the chakra laden within the inner blade with that of Ayakashi herself, the weapon emits an almost sinister tone when the trigger is pulled, giving it the title of ‘Deep Frost Wyrms Fang.’ Attributing it to the nature of the deepest and most treacherous chasms of the seas.

Appearance: An elegant and beautiful looking Nodachi with the Yuki clan symbol embossed on the side of the blade just above the tsuba hand-guard. Using a modified variant of forging techniques, fusing the Soshu Kitae and Orikaeshi Sanmai to insert a second blade sleeved within the folds of the left and right side of the weapons' edge to be revealed by an internal mechanism when the trigger is pulled. The second blade's deep sapphire crystaline teeth are hooked like rolling waves, almost like that of a sharks, and look incredibly lethal. Expertly bladed around all its edges, the blade itself is sleek and elegant, newly polished and engraved to have bold dragon designs along the length blade with rich silk binding over a leather hilt, boasting a potent 5.25 foot (1.6 meter) total length, with a 1.48 foot (45cm) grip. When the trigger is pulled however and the blade roars cleanly to life, a rolling mist plumes from the weapon like smoke from an open flame. The churning of the blade like a sharp metallic hiss as opposed to the gritty and gutteral roar of a common chainsaw. The weapon is truly a marvel.
🛡️ Ice Release, Ice Golem:

Name: Ice Release: Ice Golem (Kōritaukuru)
Origin: Custom
Rank: A
Type: Defensive
Element: Hyōton
Range: self
Specialty: Ninjutsu / Senjutsu (Optional)
Duration: 6 posts
Cooldown: 8 posts
Chakra: 25
Description: After gathering Hyōton chakra, the user creates a giant frost-born golem that is 5 meters tall and 3 meters wide. He raises from the ground at 40 m/s into existence.

The golem itself has it's own will and can move autonomously. He will do whatever it takes in order to protect their master. He is however limited to moving at a speed of 35 m/s and hence can protect the user better if they stay in place or don't move away too quickly. He will follow the user at his best capability and give them space while they are attacking but specifically move in to defend them if they are being attacked.

The golem can withstand 1 S-Rank, 2 A-Rank, or 3 B-Rank jutsu before breaking. He however has the unique ability to regrow and repair his durability once per technique usage. Meaning if he suffered an A-Rank damage or below, he can simply reform his frost-based body at the users cost of 25 chakra points and return to his full durability once again.

Hand Seal: To cast this technique the user either forms the dragon hand seal and creates a new source of Hyōton chakra, by calling upon the humidity around them. Or they require a pre-existing source of water or ice to draw from instead.

Hyōton Freeze: When in contact with water or suiton, the technique will freeze it into natural ice with E-Rank durability. This effect spreads slowly at 5 m/s until all water is frozen. Hyōton still interacts with Suiton at equal rank.

Optional Senjutsu: If this is casted while Senjutsu mode is active, the golems movement speed is enhanced from 35 m/s to 45 m/s.

He had to admit that he was impressed with Verdandi’s strength, especially this ice golem that she had created. The unenthusiastic attention he had been giving to the spider monster before would be pulled away by the golem. He was a fan of techniques of this nature, similar to clone techniques, and so he found himself watching the way that the creature moved. He could see the inspiration that Verdandi had taken from her beloved little pet, Pebbles. It was adorable, almost. Perhaps it was unwise to distract himself in a combat situation, but that wasn’t an attitude that Chigetsu could adopt right now, even if he knew it was the smart thing to do. When he had been hit from the spider’s attack earlier he felt nothing. There was no pain involved in being crushed like that. In most normal fights he had some sense of duty or entertainment to motivate him, or some other emotion that was driving him forward. While he did have that here too, wanting to help out his sweetheart and then the implied ‘reward’ that he had flirted with her about earlier, it felt suddenly like there was a weight in his chest. Hearing the voices again made him feel as though he had lost control of something, and it sent him on a spin. Maybe it was his own easily pushed around emotions that were getting the better of him now. He swapped to often between hyper excited and bubbly and this fidgety, tired uncomfort. Now wasn’t exactly the time to be thinking about his weak emotional state but it was at the same time hard not to. A lot of emotions and thoughts came to mind, and he couldn’t exactly stop them. Things had become weird as he stopped hearing the voices, and now to hear them again was equally as strange.

Luckily for him it seemed as though the ice golem was taking the majority of this spider’s attention. It would hold the beast as Verdandi began to prepare herself. The manner in which she charged her blade seemed to only increase the sound of the music that was emanating so beautiful from the metal. It combined with the revving of the chainsaw portion of the blade to create a beautiful melody, which would quickly be deadened as the whirring blade was shoved into the spider’s stomach. Pieces of meat would seem to fall out as the blade was swept across the carapace, sawing through the entire thing as if it were made of butter. The spider screamed. Chigetsu nearly screamed as the frost exploded around the area, stopping only a few inches from where he was standing. He immediately flinched and jumped back, and he was completely removed from the thoughtspace he had been in earlier. While he had seen this sword before the explosion of frost and ice was new. After a moment of panic, he found himself steady on his feet again, patting himself down and quickly attempting to pretend like that all had never happened. Casual. Smooth.

The death scream of the monster brought dozens of others swarming down the tunnels. It seemed that this infestation had been here for a while. At least long enough to create this massive brood. With the frost surrounding Verdandi, and the corpse of what was likely all these spiderling’s mother, the swarm went into past her and for Chigetsu. Still a bit off center from having just nearly stumbled into falling, he wasn’t quick to respond to their attack. He would be swarmed immediately by the mass of charging spiderlings, completely covered by them as they all jumped over him. He would be bitten all over his body in a matter of seconds. Bits and chunks would be ripped away. Wherever pressure was applied his body would liquefy and give away easily. This would continue for a few moments, with the spiderlings that coated him ripping and tearing away at the liquid. It seemed that they lacked the acid of their mother. Internally several hand seals would be formed, all being squished together in his stomach where the spiderlings couldn’t interrupt. An orange goo would explode outwards from his body as soon as he finished the seals, sweeping over the swarm that coated him and completely filling the tunnel that they were in. The slime that he spawned would shape itself to avoid Verdandi, leaving a pocket of air around where she stood and the frost that still coated the ground. The orange goo would jiggle for a few moments, appearing like a giant gelatin mold, before it would begin to dissolve away. The bottom of the tunnel would be left with a sticky liquid residue after the slime disappeared. Surrounding Chigetsu, who was quickly revealed at the epicenter, were the dehydrated and curled up corpses of the innumerable swarm that had chased after him. They appeared as if the had been completely sucked dry. They would crush under his feet as he stepped forward, collapsing into dust. He would step carefully through the piles of corpses, and then further onto the frost-coated ground. Once he reached the massive body of the spider broodmother he would give it a solid kick, as if to make sure it wasn’t about to start moving again.

“Well. That’s that.”

Verdandi would glare back as she cleaned her blade and gaze at the little spiderling swarming Chigetsu’s body. She always felt herself agitated and worried whenever she could see him being under attack like that. The idea that he was far more resilient to physical attacks was something that just never wanted to completely stick with Verd’s mind. It always took a few seconds for her to feel scared about his well being before she would be like ‘ah yeah, it won’t really hurt him’ and bring her back at ease. After she cleaned her Daikatana, Chi had laid waste in his usual formidable fashion of goo’ness to all the little vermin spiders, they would move towards the corpse of the mode. Chi would kick her a few to check if she was dead for good. Verd would start forming hand seals and a multitude of shadow clones would split away from her body and run down the hallway. They would start fetching what was left of the guards and workers in the spider’s nest. Most of them poisoned and unconscious, wrapped up in spider webbings. The clones would have to carefully cut the outlining webbing apart before each of them would grab on two of the civilians and tug them over the shoulder. Verd would shortly signal for them to move without delay and bring them towards the medical ward. Dad would see to it that whomever was still alive would see the sunrise tomorrow. But alas, the mission itself was concluded.

Verdandi would push the radio on her ear and gently sound the ‘all clear’ signal to Skuld. Verdandi’s sister would immediately dispatch a larger guard force that would now come down here to clean out whatever was left of tiny spiders and dispose of the corpses that had become victim to Verd and Chi. She turned to her darling as things seemed to have been taken care of in a rather simple and efficient way. Golem slowly melted away into the rest of the ice that already covered the floor below.

“That’s that. I guess we’ll keep the doors to the lower levels locked for now. We can eventually go and see if there is more fun of a challenge in these depths sometime. But I guess its not where civilians and non-ninja militia should be roaming around alone. Anyhow, work is done. That means we can get to the fun part of today!”

Verdandi giggled and quickly grabbed on Chi’s arm. Sneaking in against him like, well a young teenage girl that was blushing up at getting to spend some snuggle time with her lovey boy. In time they would make their way back upstairs. The guards of Skuld passing by them on the way. Most of them casually greeting the princess. Not rarely they would blush up at the way Verd was tugging her lover along. Faint smiles would linger on their faces. Probably reminding themselves of their own days of youth. It was time for some good food and then, relaxing time. Lazy couch snuggles and comfy hot spring was all that was left waiting for them.

“As long as nobody else gets hurt by these things, I think everything will be fine. Even if there are monsters deep down… Well, as long as they stay down there where they belong, I don’t think it’s a big problem.” He would shrug his shoulders slightly. It wasn’t as if his people were directly affected by this, so he didn’t have the same feelings of responsibility as Verdandi. Surely she would insist that later came and killed anything non-human that resided down in these depths. He would do as she asked, of course. Anywhere Verdandi wished to go Chigetsu would likely end up following. There were probably better solutions to this entire debacle, but going down together into these dark caves cave the entire situation a sense of adventure. Flooding it all would have been much easier though. Surely none of these creatures down here could breathe water like he could. Just filling the entire place up with ocean water and then draining it would solve all their problems without much effort put in. “We can go back again some other time, although I doubt there’ll be anything fun. Just more pests. Nothing that could challenge us.”

All of those thoughts would be discarded as soon as Verdandi took ahold of his arm. He would stiffen for a second before relaxing. He had half a mind to wrap an arm around her, or attempt to hold her her hand, or something, but she was the one in control of the affection now. He just ended up smiling, giddy with new happy emotions. He would forget all the things he had been thinking about. About voices in his head and weaponry, and emotions like fear and frustration. The combat had helped a bit in distracting him, but there was nothing that better distracted him from all that than her being beside him.

He did remember one thing that he had been thinking about before, though. Baths. He had asked for one with her earlier, back when he was flirting with her right off the boat and on the docks. Although that was her clone, he was sure the message was passed along. She seemed to have read his mind, either that or just remembered and not have had such a flighty mindset like Chigetsu did during this mission. Either way, the two of them would stroll off together back into the city of Heidel, making their way up to Verdandi’s family’s castle to enjoy the remainder of their time together.
