Round Two: Yoshihiro Joe vs. Senju Yokari 3eljTfm

Entering at opposite ends, this otherwise bland arena is a circular coliseum with a spiral pattern depicted on the floor. When the match begins, exits are sealed and the arena's mechanisms begin to churn. Beginning as a 50m radius, the spiral patterns serve as guidelines for walls which close in from all directions, reducing the arena's effective radius by 10m each posting round, with the final 10m being reduced to a 2m radius within which the combatants will eventually find themselves fighting. Contestants enter the arena at opposite sides of the circle.

POSTING ORDER
1 - Yoshihiro
2 - Yokari

Yoshi looked at the boy in the mirror. The calm bright brown eyes and black hair that framed his otherwise angular face felt foreign to him these days. He tilted his head, hoping that a trick of the light was merely playing with him. The bags under his eyes were noticeable. He hadn't been sleeping well. The short time he had been given in-between matches hadn't been that helpful in resting or recuperating ahead of his next duel. He had been studying, training, and doing just about anything he could to be prepared for the coming fight. Somehow, all that felt shallow and empty to him, like he knew the commands and hand seals in his head clearly but couldn't shake the feeling that he was forgetting or otherwise missing something. He turned on the faucet and splashed some cold water onto his face, he was thinking too much, it was a trap he fell into often. He couldn't help it though, not when so much had been happening so quickly. He had won his first fight, but many of his friend's hadn't, and what's more, one of them had lost their life.

Xiao may have only been a recent friend that Yoshi had made, but he was one whom he had come to care for greatly. Truth be told, he had always been rather poor at working his way into friend circles. Both as an orphan and also as a student at the ninja academy. He had certainly grown into a strong and quick thinking Genin, and yet, despite all that, he had felt alone. Maybe that was why he felt so apathetic to the roaring crowds of the Chunin Exams, of their chants for himself and the other competitors vying to be promoted. They all felt so very far away to Yoshi, like he was a single dot in a constantly moving crowd. There was some comfort in the feeling, like knowing he wasn't alone, but beyond that surface reaction, he felt more isolated and lonely than he had before. He looked up from the sink back into the mirror to look himself in the eyes, he knew that he was his own worst enemy, and a part of him wished to strangle that other side of himself and to kill it outright. Yoshi raised his hands up to wrap around his neck, squeezing his throat with moderate force before letting go to exhale and inhale heavily.

No, he couldn't fight himself now. He'd leave that for due time. Right now, he had to prepare himself for his next match. Yoshi was determined to avenge his fallen friend, to bring him peace. He had already confronted Ryo on the streets of Konohagakure in the night prior to this fight. After all that had happened in the short span between his initial victory and now, he felt like a different person. He wanted tow in of course, to be promoted to Chunin, but after seeing the recording of Xiao's defeat, a primal rage was flowing through his blood, he wanted nothing more than to win this fight and face his true rival in the match following this one. Once the Finals came about following these rounds of fights, there'd be no special arena or gimmick that would keep him from Yoshi- just the two of them on a closed off arena, ready to let loose in perhaps what could be the most anticipated match of the tournament if it occured. When Yoshi looked at himself in the mirror, he thought he saw his eyes seem just a little darker and more cruel. He pondered how that might mean he had become a man and left his boyish ways behind. He couldn't say for sure, only that he was more ready and eager for this fight than he ever thought he would be.

A loud knocking reverberated through the door to the bathroom, "Hey Joe, it's time" one of the officials said. There was no more putting any of this off. With a heavy sigh, Yoshi stepped away from the mirror and walked throught he door into the hallway of the arena building. Already through the tunnel of the bleachers and seats surrounding the arena he could hear chants picking up. It seemed that following the last showing between himself and his current opponent, their fight had been hyped up a great deal by the guests. Chants of, 'Yo Joe! Yo Joe!' or 'JoJo' echoed through the hallway as the Genin in question walked towards the bright daylight at the end of the tunnel. He didn't know what kind of arena he'd be fighting in, only that it certainly wouldn't be those docks again like before. As Yoshi stepped out into the edge of the arena, the crowd sitting above the field erupted into cheers. Apparently this was a money fight. What the betting odds were meant to be or who was favored, well, Yoshi couldn't say.

The giant caged dome that sat in the middle of the arena would be their battleground. As he walked towards his side of the cage, one of the officials told him the details of the arena's gimmick. It was going to quickly become smaller and smaller until it provided only space for basic melee combat between them both. It wasn't the worst thing in the world for Yoshi, but that being said, he had no idea what kind of abilities his opponent would be bringing with him. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we give you Yoshihiro Joe vs Yokari Senju" the announcer boomed, introducing the two fighters as they both stepped into their opposite ends of the arena.

A Senju eh? That he could work with. He had grown up around plenty of them in the past, and having an honorary younger brother who was one certainly gave him a head start in figuring out how this one would fight. He had never heard of this Yokari before, only that he had brutally defeated his previous opponent, a fate that Yoshi would seek to avoid replicating. As the announcer would prepare the match, Yoshi would loosen the large shawl wrapped around his shoulder and waist, secretly imbuing it with a trace of his chakra and to allow it to fall off of him at a moments notice. He'd have to make his own substitutions for an arena like this. At last, all eyes turned to the duo as they stood there on opposite ends of the dome.

"3...2...1... Begin!" the proctor yelled. With that, the fight was on! The cage began to grind inwards, on cue.

Name: Substitution Technique (変わり身の術 ~ Kawarimi no Jutsu)
Canon/Custom: Canon.
Rank: E.
Type: Supplementary.
Element: None.
Range: One prepared item in the user's clear line of sight.
Speciality: Ninjutsu.
Duration: 1 post preparation. Infinite postponement, Instant activation.
Cooldown: 6 posts after activation.
Description: The Substitution Technique is an age-old skill which enables the user to evade the effects of an attack by switching with an item in the area. (The item---or substantial clone---used for a Substitute must be as large as the user's torso, and must be prepared at least 1 post in advance by infusing it with 5 chakra.) Activating this jutsu for another 5 chakra, the ninja moves at untraceable speed for just a moment, and the item does so as well to take the user's place; the ninja leaves behind a flickering after-image for a second, which, if damaged, releases the chakra which holds it in place in a small smoke cloud, revealing the nature of the technique and the item they have switched with. Higher-rank ninjas' afterimages are able to show some of the signs of natural impact as if it were an actual human, if only for a very short period, before 'poofing'. The user coming out of the technique creates a similar audio and visual cue with a small cloud of translucent smoke and a 'poofing' sound on appearance in the location of the item they Substituted with. This technique causes the user to move at speeds untraceable to human perception, and therefore even the user cannot coordinate attacks during the Kawarimi, or activate any other jutsu. They, however, can maneuver near someone and then attack them after the fast-movement is finished.

"Each man is a river."

Sat beneath the canopy of Fire Country's lush forests, mere hours before the advent of his second round match, the Senju sat alone, feeling the warmth dance lackadaisically through his hair and skin, trees breathing life into the space between ideas and reality. Yoh had never cared for the bustle of the world beyond his island, even as he had been spirited away to the mainland by the throes of war and subterfuge, the boy longed to return somewhere that ideals clashed in libraries, not battlefields. Still, violence was the way of these people, and Yokari found himself no exception, journies upon journies had led him throughout Hi no Kuni and presented him with nothing, Zhurong's kingdom remained locked away from his view. Brought together by an ancient accord of war and tribulation, these Exams, as the village called them, had drawn Yoh's attention for one reason. If a festival could be erected to honor these trials, then surely the King of Fire would be watching from on high, scoffing as the mortals danced across rivets and rails, pulled by mechanisms hidden beneath the surface, not of their own design.

It was only the distant clanging of gongs and whistling fireworks that roused the young Senju from his daydream, hoisting him up upon the wings of chariots toward the destination set forth for him by the Gods and spirits beneath them. Leaves and trees begged to reach out and touch the cultivator's energy, nature at home within the embrace of Yokari's heritage, unknown to him, that in the ninja world, he would be called Senju. Through the streets of Konoha, none recognized him save for those who had heard the tale of his latest conquest and pointed to him, singling him out in the disorderly thoroughfares leading to the stadium. Before long, Yoh found himself in a sea of faces, propped up along with the others who emerged victorious as momentary heroes to be held aloft in some reverence beyond what they were, the engines of slaughter to drive a culture cyclical, steering itself to the ends of the earth for power. The monk felt a tremendous affinity with those who the ninja world forgot, like them, he needed no praise, and most of all felt no desire to whip those around him into a frenzy in his wake, if they chose to celebrate death then their prerogative it would be.

Stepping through the halls of stadiums, Yoh entered into the public gallery smothered on all sides by those who called themselves his supporters, each contestant garnering a drove of fans vehemently vying, whether through their passion or financial investment, for the victory they had foretold. It was the boy's distant stare and indifferent smile which set him apart from many who competed here, a world away from the neuroses of his compatriots, the preacher found himself secure in the knowledge of his journey, a lone sojourner taking the first steps of thousands toward a destination he could not yet see, following the missive of a dusty tome. It seemed a peculiar thing to set one's mind on a world of another's creation, even for the shinobi who fought for the ideals of their creed and country, drew from power not their own, imparted to them by the will of Gods who descended to bless them with the means to end creation. As the crowds chanted, many jeering at one another and placing bets to accentuate the rush of watching the gladiators fight, Yoh found himself at the edge of the audience, staring down toward a cage, and the desolate arena therein. It would be from here, not the tunnels, that the monk would watch as guardians drew forth thunderous voices, announcing the names of Yoh and his opponent to the sound of rising cheers which could be heard for miles.

It would be Yoshihiro who emerged first, and after an awkward pause, there would be no opponent for his eyes to rest upon, Yoh yawning and stretching in the stands before finally slithering down between the bars of the cage leading to their battleground. Shafts of morning sun illuminated the boy from behind, toying playfully with the emerald crown on his head as he let seeds pour from his hands and blossom into flowers, roots, and vines which would coil upward across his arms. Before his feet touched the ground, a sanctified garden of lush grass thrust heavenward to meet him, sighing dutifully as the Senju commanded them to grow. In the wake of the proctor's announcement, Yoh pondered the absurdity of calling him by such a name, never before had the boy been called a Senju until he entered the mainland, and he could not be sure he shared a shred of heritage with those who inhabited the Hidden Leaf. Gates sealed, the match was set to begin as behind Yoh, a series of gearous churning noises lurched the walls into motion, causing the boy's head to whip to and fro, curiously raising his eyebrow as he turned back to observe the foe standing opposite him. Yelling across the vacant expanse, Yoh would try to catch his opponent's attention as he slowly made his way forward, lazy footfalls heralding the stretch of his garden,

"First trains and now closing walls, do shinobi always want to solve puzzles as they fight?!"

Inhale, exhale.

"Same difference, I suppose! Let's put on the show they're all here for!"

Yoshi blinked. His opponent hadn't readily appeared when the match was first announced, but the form of someone moving from the stands above down to the arena had caught his eye. The glare of the afternoon sun had caused him to be somewhat blurry at first, the distance between the two making the heat waves rising up off the ground to distort the young form of the monk. As he had watched the wayward Senju walk, Yoshi would think to himself and wonder just what it was that might be going through the other teen's mind. There was a definite purpose for the Futon expert's actions now, his role in this tournament had come to take on a more aggressive and pointed meaning as he strived to face Ryo following their tense meeting the night prior. It was the thin red line between justice and revenge tht Yoshi was straddling, yet it was a balancing act that he was finding it harder and harder to maintain properly. Instead, as he was standing there expectantly watching Yokari enter the black metal dome opposite from him, Yoshi could feel himself questioning why he was even here anymore. He wanted to become Chunin, this much was certain, but what then?

Once the two Genin were sealed into the cage, the crowd went wild with excitement. These two had put on quite the showing in their previous round. The question was hanging in the air: who would win? Would it be the refined skill and tactical mind that Yoshi had proven to have? Or would the ruthless aggression of Yokari be unstoppable once again? The crowd was about to find out, the words of the Senju barely carrying weight above the onlookers. It seemed that he was tired of all these tricky arenas. Yoshi couldn't blame him, he had heard horror stories of how miserable attempting to fight in some of the more outlandish arenas could be, such as the train tracks or the tall grass. On the other hand, though, he couldn't say it would've been as easy for him to press an advantage against Yasubei unless he had used sleight of hand when using the docks from the last arena to his advantage. This fight would be more standard, something that would prepare them both for the next round when all of these gimmick arenas disappeared. Sure the cage would shrink, but it would eventually come down to just the two of them, locked in a fixed 50 by 50 meter square, trying to beat each other. Yoshi could get down with that.

"We'll make do" Yoshi called back, beginning to walk slowly from his side of the cage. They were both going to go slow and steady it seemed, eager to see whom would make the first attack. Senju tactics were pretty diverse, if sparring with Sachihiro had taught him anything growing up. One of them would eventually break, it wasn't as if they would just stroll up to one another and casually beat one another into submission. Yoshi was expecting something, so he stayed alert to blink away with a dash in case that something would rear its ugly head. He loosened the shawl a bit more, ready to let it fall away from him when he wanted it to, he hadn't gotten the chance to prime a substitution in his last match, it was a choice he was still kicking himself over. He decided to push the tense talking that was occuring between them both, "What is a Senju doing outside of Konohagakure's protection? You are walking along the surface of a thin cloud brother, one where a single misstep will send you falling down upon the crags" damn, that was pretty eloquent even for him, maybe all this anxiety had its perks.

His slow and steady steps would mirror the pace of his opponent. Yoshi knew better than to be caught out monologuing before a fight. A soft mouth that spoke too much was all the more inviting of a hard fist to end foolish talk. He had learned that lesson long ago. Yet, he could not help but let his intrigue get the better of him. He certainly was on guard, and had more than enough options to dodge or counter the other teen's advances, but he was eager to hear his response. Yoshi had only ever known Senju who had lived within Konoha all their lives, to think of any who would become Ronin, to abandon the village of their birth, it was utterly inconceivable. "I am Yoshihiro Joe, I am my own clan, and yet I remain hear where the trees are ever-green. Why would you leave this homeland?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he wished to hear an answer. Yasubei had been a Ronin, this is true, but so far as Yoshi knew this had always been the case- thus when a clan such as the Senju went rogue, it was far more jarring for him to think. By the nature of his upbringing as an orphan, he simply couldn't fathom the idea of attempting to leave Konoha.

Their slow pace was gradually bringing them both closer together. The uproar of the audience had fallen silent now, the tension in the air palpable enough to nearly be used as Futon. Yoshi's brown eyes met Yokari's, a clash of willpower gradually forming as one waited for the other to make the first move. Still, the former wanted to ask one final question before they would determine who's will was stronger. "What is it you fight for if you now fight for nothing?" Yoshi asked, his brow furrowed as the blatant question hung in the air, waiting for Yokari to give it shape and reasoning. He could feel electricity rippling through his mind and his body, that blood rush that accompanied the thrill of the fight. He could hear somewhat vaguely the sound of the metal cage scraping inwards, chasing the two in its slow speed, beginning to make the arena smaller with each moment that passed. Sooner, rather than later, they'd be at each other's throats like good, honest, shinobi.

Beneath the wild, roaring crowds, Yoh could hear the thrumming heartbeat of earth and nature, somehow out of sync with the raucous display of support, mixed chanting for each of their names overcame between one another as the sound coiled heavenward in unidentifiable aplomb, lost to the sky. Exhaling slowly, the preacher's eyes transfixed on his foe as the two began a slow march, Yoh wondering whether there was any purpose to be found in the displays he once had reviled when he traversed the Hidden Cloud and cursed the banners strung high above streets paved with bloodshed. The look on his face would say it all, steeling into a visage of stoic disapproval, disdain shot toward the audience before Yoh's arms would flex inside their wooden tombs, encasing his body with roots and leaves, bright flowers blooming and wilting away to leave a trail of petals in his wake.

In the back of Yokari's thoughts, nightmares of the first match lingered still, poking vicious heads from the mind fog present behind his eyes. Katsumi had been little challenge, but what haunted Yoh was the crowd who fell silent when he had shown them the truth of their folly, even those most vehement in their support of this tradition had not wanted to watch the Senju flay another boy alive. Internally, Yoh scoffed at the pleas for peace swept beneath war and violence, hypocrisy ran rampant in the ninja villages, that much he knew for sure. With no choice but to carry on, the monk clenched his fists, seeds between his fingers ready to be unleashed with the fury he had shown before, but his ears twitched in the moments before release, the foe before him posed a question that would not go unanswered.

"Only since arriving in this place has anybody called me 'Senju'! I was not born under your banners, and I am not your brother! My name is Yokari, the student of Masayama, Sage of the Outward Path! I did not leave your homeland, I merely arrived in it! Is it the way of all shinobi to ignore the world beyond these walls?!"

Pausing, Yoh would consider his next words with care, making sure to run through his head the notions of custom and tradition which he may offend regardless of any tact he chose. The teen's voice held distance and calm, indifferent but forceful, Yoh would continue.

"I fight so that one day, I might be free! Can you honestly tell me what you fight for?! Or maybe you'll just tell me what your village told you to fight for?!"

Through gritted teeth, the rush began, picking up steam as Yoh started to run, first unleashing a duo of razor seeds toward Yoshihiro aimed for the center of his chest, the Senju would then sprint toward his foe, propelled by roots beneath the earth which buried themselves deep, creating a hidden network of vines as he ran. The second volley would come within twenty meters of the other teen, three more seeds thrown with as much force as the boy could muster but these would break apart, growing into thick trunks as they left Yokari's hands, flying through the air as if he had tossed venerable oaks stripped from Konoha's own limitless forests, threatening to bury Yoshihiro with their weight. If the young preacher made his way toward Yoshihiro unimpeded, it would be from nearly thirteen feet that the Senju would unleash a barrage of tendrils from the wood encasing his right arm, snakes of wooden vines that would rush toward and sought to find the errant foe to bombard him with lashes from a dozen directions. Splitting into even more attacks, Yoh's creation and mastery of Mokuton would be the threat most pressing for his foe to deal with if they reached such quarters would likely prove a trial if his opponent were not prepared for such precision which even Fire Country's Senju could not claim to possess, but that came from oneness with nature itself. The blows would rain down toward Yoshihiro's chest and abdomen, while more would seek to constrict his arms and legs, all the while Yoh would strafe toward him carried by the strength of his wooden armor.

There was a calm between them before the storm that was sure to follow. Yoshi eyed the way that the seeds and wood coating the Senju's limbs was solidified and hardened, covering his flesh like a second layer of skin. It wasn't something he had seen before, he was unsure if it was some form of defensive jutsu or not. In a way, fighting the monk was more challenging to him than his previous match, with the Mokuton fighting style not unfamiliar to him, yet still foreign enough for him to be wary of getting too close. He had seen the footage of what the boy had done to his previous opponent. He couldn't end up like that, not if he wanted to face the one whom he truly wished to confront. He wouldn't underestimate what the teen was capable of. His brow was furrowed, his gaze deathly serious as the two stopped their advance towards one another. As Yokari would speak, Yoshi would slowly bring his hands together, pressing the palms in place and silently creating a gale of Futon. He sensed the tension rising, the frustration and hunger for violence growing higher and higher with each passing moment.

Yokari's words were virtually the inverse of everything that Yoshihiro had ever known and believed. How could someone live or exist as a shinobi outside of the walls of a village? They were one's home, they offered protection, to think of a world without them was unfathomable. The response that the black haired teen gave reflected such bewilderment, adding oil to the fire that was rapidly consuming them both, the kettle reaching a screeching boil. "I am Yoshihiro Joe. Orphan, Genin, and sole member of the 'Joe' clan. You are a Senju, your roots are tied to Konoha. There is no world beyond the walls of a ninja's homeland, of their village!" Yoshi retorted, yet the words felt hollow, much as his experience fighting alongside Xiao, and his first meeting with Ryo had told him. These exams, they weren't just challenging him physically- he had prepared for that much- but the way they questioned all that he knew, he couldn't explain the feeling. Somehow, it felt like he was older now, like a part of the childish innocence and joy he had once had had died alongside Xiao in the first round.

Defiance was a key theme in Yokari it seemed, his questioning tone returning in full bore for Yoshihiro to absorb. The teen fought to be free? What did such a thing mean? It went against every idea that Yoshi had ever had about being a Genin, it was as if when he looked at Yokari he saw a mirror form of himself, one that was familiar in appearance, but virtually unrecognizable in his ideals and beliefs. It frustrated Yoshi greatly, his teeth gritting as he saw Yokari launch his first attack. The monk threw a collection of seeds that appeared to have sharp protrusions acting similar to the bladed edge of a shuriken. They were small, thankfully, and with a quick dash sideways, were easily dodged. The same couldn't be said for the second volley, however. Yoshi's eyes went wide at seeing the trio of seeds suddenly grow into trees. Such power, such control over the very process and cycle of life itself! It frustrated him even more than the Senju's words of defiance. Why, why was it that someone as low as a ronin had greater reason to be alive than Yoshi? Why did someone like him survive when a loyal Genin like Xiao was killed like a dog?

"I don't know!!!" Yoshi yelled, releasing his hands which he had clasped together. He had anticipated a ranged attack, or some type of rushing offensive, but the scale of such a thing took him off guard. Sure enough, the powerful gust of wind rippled outwards from his hands, shooting forwards towards Yoh and the volley of seeds he had launched at him. As the monk would continue to get closer, hot on the trail of his seeds, the powerful winds would knock the trees aside as if they were little more than dust in the wind. As the razor sharp wind would come into contact with Yoh's bark'y form, cutting him with countless half-inch nicks and lacerations all along his body, Yoshi would hastily move his left hand down to his hip and throw a shuriken into the gust of wind rushing at the monk. Given that the boy had dashed forwards following his volley of trees, committing his momentum and momentarily obscuring his view do to the size of the noble oaks, the Gale Palm would likely hit him at point blank range unless he managed to somehow create some form of defense at the last moment. Should the shuriken find its mark, aimed for the teen's chest, the empowered projectile would pierce a full inch into his body, adding further pain to the cuts that had formed. On top of the damaging aspects of the combo attack, the powerful cutting wind would knock the Senju up off his feet and into the air, throwing him backwards five meters.

"Freedom. What does that even mean? What is it that's making you fight with every ounce of your strength?" Yoshi yelled, watching to see if the attack would hit or if he would need to respond again. He had to know the answer, he had to understand what it was that was pushing his opponent to his limit, even if he was so far playing into Yoshi's attacks until now.

Name: Wind Release: Gale Palm (Fūton: Reppūshō ~ 風遁・烈風掌)
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Element: Fūton
Range: 15 metres
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: Wind Release: Gale Palm is a technique where the user releases a powerful stream of wind against their opponent. To perform this technique the user merely has to slam the palms of their hands together, holding the pose for at least a second. They then break this pose and immediately thrust the palms of their hands towards the intended target. A powerful gale will fire out from the palms of both hands towards the intended target at 12 m/s. On impact, this gale can send someone flying back 5 metres, as well as shredding clothing and causing countless 1/2-inch deep cuts on exposed flesh. It can easily knock projectiles that clash into it aside, as well as increasing the speed and penetrative power of projectiles travelling within the stream, allowing the weapons to pierce roughly half an inch deeper than normal.

Yokari

D-rank
The rush had caught Yoh again, swept him up in a cascade of hunger and ideals as he stormed toward his foe, gritted teeth marking a descent into the belly of combat, gnashing jaws and baying of hounds echoing between the contestants, drowning out all else. Yoh's volley unfurled into the air, careening by their mark, the imprecise assault serving as a warning shot for the second trio which erupted, growing upon themselves with surprising swiftness into thick trunks hurtling toward Yoshi and threatening to crush him beneath their weight. Still rushing toward the other boy, Yoh could feel the roots which carried him circle upward to grip him and propel him toward his opponent, but eyes wide, he watched as the trees were severed before him, bursting galeforce slicing the wooden projectiles into slivers of bark and debris. This was not a case of underestimation, no tactic had gone into Yoh's onslaught, only the desire to push forward and prove his worth throughout the Land of Fire until its King would hear his cries.

Yoh's feet moved without wasted movement, piloted by the exoskeleton of Mokuton encasing his body, the root-system beneath his feet would propel him to the left, skating on the underground evidence of his mastery to avoid the bulk of his opponent's attack. Quickness proved to be his savior, darting away as the wind whipped past his right-hand side, crashing into the bark shell across his skin and causing him to be knocked into a violent spin while the air cut away at his defense to cut several gashes on the outside of his shoulder, eliciting a grunt from the young Senju as blood trickled from behind his torn sleeves, seeping through the armor which wasted no time in repairing itself. Three in total, the wounds would prove to be superficial at best, but cause Yoh's body to spin away from the earth, caught by roots which plunged from his body into the ground around him, transferring the momentum of his spin into his left arm as he moved a meter barely from his original position. Slipping between the fingers of his left hand, three more seeds would roar toward Yoshihiro's position as he spoke, and Yoh would be in close pursuit, roots from the Senju's back acting as makeshift legs to skitter toward the boy with swiftness surpassing even the fastest of their class. As he had done with Katsumi, these seeds would burst into a thicket of thorns and vines, covered on their edges with razors threatening to dig into the other ninja's flesh and root him to the ground, continuing to grow if they found themselves within the aura of Yoh's Mokuton technique.

"Of course you don't know what you fight for! A flag is not a reason for war! I fight with all my strength because I am no shinobi!"

Yoh's words would punctuate the formation of a root system coiling around his right arm, reinforcing the cuts and abrasions while lurching forward in the shape of a fist to the maximum of its potential range, three feet wide to swing with the monk in tow in its attempt to impact Yoshihiro with enough force to bruise his chest and face. Hidden behind the wooden obfuscation, Yoh's wooden apparatus would seek to unravel into a nest of vines which would attempt to rush forth in all directions and intercept the teen's ability to dodge with walls of tightening flora, flowers blooming with petals that threatened to slice Yoshihiro's skin to ribbons. If it eventuated that the boy would continue to evade out of the reach of Yokari's onslaught, then the Senju would continue his advance, much quicker than the other Genin would be able to muster it would be only seconds before, inevitably, Yoh would be upon him and ready to lash out with myriad vines and leaves, branches screaming nature's vicious fury at Yoh's command. Yoshi's limbs would find themselves the targets of Yoh's vines, which would barrel onward in their quest to bind him while lashing at his chest and hips, the test here would be twofold, the Genin's ability to keep away from Yoh's assault, or if he could not, then his capability for multitasking. If there were any affinity at all between them, it would be lost under the torrent of Yoh's vehemence, rising tempo escalated to a fever pitch as the Senju's cascade carried him toward victory.

Offering up, as he had done once before, a lone, snapping command, the battle would go on.

"Yield!"

Description: This technique alters a Senju's biology to produce specialized seeds through a special layer of white bark which forms on their skin while this technique is maintained, these seeds make suitable catalysts for Mokuton techniques. The seeds generated by this technique are unique in that they possess special wing-like protrusions, which cause the shinobi's skin to slice opponents when touched, or when making basic strikes, causing lacerations of up to 1cm. The user may generate up to five of these seeds per post, after which the effect cannot occur again for the remainder of that post. The shape of these seeds makes them suitable throwing weapons, allowing them to be utilized as if they were a D-rank projectile item, interacting as if it were such.

Yoshihiro

Yoshihiro

B-rank
There was a disconnect between the shinobi's mind and his body. His mind may have been a tumultuous maelstrom of unending confusion, much as Yoh now knew, but his body remained rooted firmly in the present. He had practiced and theorized how to optimize and weave his jutsu together, in the days leading up to the exams he had come to know them so well that it had become instinct for him to see openings with which to crack an opponent. Such was the case upon seeing his attack upon Yoh strike a glancing blow. Instantly, YoJo would form the bird hand seal, focusing intently on the area between himself and where he knew that the other Genin would recover and land. It didn't take an expert strategist to see that he would spin a meter or so away from his original position. His movement and destination had been telegraphed since the moment he had been hit on the side!

The air and ground around Yoh would crackle with electricity as he recovered via his manipulated vines. The sole warning sign for what would occur next. Yoshi had placed his zone between himself and Yoh, anticipating that the wild monk would charge at him again as he had before. In the furious speed and ferocity with which Yoh moved and hastily attempted to recover from his spin to charge forwards, Yoshi would capitalize on his advances! Lightning chakra would erupt violently upwards right as Yoh would finish throwing his seeds. The unbridled electricity would easily break the amplified projectiles with their burning tendrils, more so against an element like Mokuton, which YoJo knew was made from water and earth. Given that Yoh had thrown the seeds whilst recovering from a spinning fall, as well as the momentum being redirected in a dash towards Yoshi, it would take both an inhuman reaction time and speed to realize what was about to happen in the single second before the lightning erupted in a circle large enough to include him and the area between him and Yoshi.

"You speak lies! You claim in one breath to fight for a high reason, yet cannot tell me what true freedom means to you!" Yoshi would shout as he formed his second bird hand sign, watching as the scorching lightning would throw Yoh high 10 meters into the air. His body moving with instinct, the Genin would reach out with his open palm towards the airborn opponent, sending a stream of futon that would easily reach him in his helpless airborne state. "I-I hate you!" Yoshi yelled, closing his palm to cause the air around Yoh to suddenly crush him from all sides, as if his body had been placed in an invisible hydraulic press that was squeezing him into jelly. Should the Finisher jutsu land, it would break numerous bones all along the Genin's body, least of all the skull, breaking them with a sickening crunch. "I don't know why I fight right now! Only that I must! For if I stop fighting, I will stop living!" Yoshi declared as he would weave his third bird seal, again launching a stream of futon through the air to Yoh's seemingly-helpless  airborne body. "You know nothing about me! Not my lonelines, not my sadness- I can never go back to living in the dark like I did before i became a shinobi!- I'd rather die than feel that alone again!" Yoshi screamed as an invisible hand would seemingly slap Yoh out of the sky, rocketing him back down with a powerful and painful concussive force which would crash his broken body back down into the earth.

"I hate you, but I hate myself even more. The truth is that I'm afraid what I will become if I have no reason to fight. The truth is that I am so very, very afraid" the Genin said more calmly, watching the spot where Yoh's body would form a crater in the earth.

Range: 25 meter range, 6 meter radius for AoE.
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Description: The user creates a Bird hand sign to gather the chakra needed for this ability. Selecting an area within 25 meters of them, the user releases their generated Raiton in a 6 meter zone within range. The air will crackle to life, sparks briefly flying about, alerting the enemy to the fact that the zone they are in is about to become transmutated with Lightning. After this second passes, the area erupts with Raiton energy flowing violently upwards, causing major 1st degree burns as it shocks those caught in the blast, as well as knocking them up to 10 meters into the air. The flow of lightning will shoot upwards at a rate of 20 m/s. Due to having generated the lightning themselves, the explosion of Raiton will not harm the user of this jutsu if they themselves are caught in the blast radius.

Specialty: Ninjutsu/Chakra Control
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 3 posts

The user makes the Bird hand sign, focusing on an airborne enemy within 10 meters of them. A thin stream of Futon shoots out from the user at 15 m/s towards the airborne target, reaching up to 10m. Upon coming within 2m of the user a powerful gust of wind will knock the target back the direction they are moving within the air. If the target is unmoving or otherwise jumping straight up, the jutsu will slam them down to the ground. The blast wind will knock the target back 5 meters, dealing mild concussive damage in the process.
