Round Three: Hyūga Xiang vs. Osoroshī Kaito O4uJlKt

You reach the arena via a small working town, overlooked by the Great Naruto Bridge. This arena consists of a series of docks which extend 40m offshore and are each 10m away. Ferries and smaller vessels regularly pass within a few meters of the ends of the pier, the decks of which have been vacated for the purposes of hosting your combat temporarily. Be careful - getting stuck on any given waterfaring vessel for more than 2 posting rounds causes you to exit the docks, eliminating you by ring-out.

The smell of the river and the sound of seagulls brought memories of Kaito's home in the Hidden Mist to the forefront of his mind. Having spent most of his life living in a small home on the coastline of Kirigakure, Kaito was well aware of the dangers that presided over this new arena. With the traffic on the water, even a single misstep at the wrong time could prove lethal if not fatal. Getting run over by a lumber barge wasn't exactly on the Kiri-nin's bucket list, but he also knew he needed to get this match over with. The horrible news of what had happened to his little brother hadn't been sitting right with him, and he hadn't gotten much sleep while he attempted to decide on his course of action. Before he was able to make up his mind on if he wanted to continue on in the exams or not, his previous opponent had dropped, allowing him to win by default. Now in the third round of the chunin exams, Kaito knew he had to forfeit so that he could tend to his adoptive younger brother's casket. His primary focus was guarding Xiao's body until the delegation from Kirigakure returned home and Kaito could bury Xiao properly.

The young Kiri-nin just hoped that his opponent wouldn't consider his actions a slight against them, as Kaito's intention was not to show disrespect by surrendering. What worried him more was the potential backlash he would receive from his fellow Kiri-nin. Perhaps they would consider his actions to be cowardice. Regardless, Kaito could not bare the the thought of leaving Xiao alone, locked in some box in a dark room for the next week or so until the chunin exams were over with. It wasn't so much that Kaito thought Xiao's body would be disturbed, but considering the fact that he'd never been able to bury his mother, Kaito felt some sort of need to guard Xiao until the small child was put to rest.

Holding his head high, Kaito looked across the arena, attempting to meet his opponent's gaze head on. With a bow of respect, Kaito called out to the proctors. "I, Osoroshi Kaito, forfeit." Almost immediately, a woman wearing a Konoha headband landed next to him, asking him if he was sure. Kaito could tell by the look in her eyes, that she had likely guessed his reasoning, but he only offered her a courtly nod before turning and walking off the dock and out of the bounds of the arena. Now he just needed to find a boat to take him back to Konohagakure so he could find Xiao's casket.
