The setting sun filled the skies with orange, the dark of night slowly creeping up on the surrounding lands. Though they had encountered bandits along the way to their destination, the three had successfully escorted the cart along with its owner to the village of the merchant’s hometown. Their success marked the heir’s first completed B-rank mission. Combined with what he believed to be an excellent enough display of his skills, it wasn’t foolish to hope that he would be awarded with a rank up upon their arrival back to Kumogakure. He looked to the skies, golden eyes filled with hope for the future to come. Unexpectedly a yawn exited his lips, body now just realizing the time that had passed since they had departed Kumogakure. With the roads back to the village slowly being shrouded by the coming night sky, it seemed as though they were now forced to spend the night at the village. The boy’s clear inexperience in missions began to show itself for it had led him to expect finishing their mission and returning before sunset had even showed itself. Luckily for him, the village was not as rural as he had expected it to be in his mind. Being right beside the border, a constant stream of travelers would pass by regularly, making opportunistic businessmen invest to make the village more commercially viable.

Restaurants and bars filled the streets, and though the latter was still unappealing to the child, the aroma of food struck his nose critically. The grumble of his stomach filled his ears, hunger began to fill his body, luckily for him, he had been smart enough to bring enough ryo to sustain himself a whole month before he would need to return back home. His eyes searched for Mizuki, wondering what would be next now that their mission had been completed. He was content to allow her the rest of the paperwork required for the rest of the job, she was after all the sole jonin among the three. He’d ask her if he was still needed, and after learning he was clear to go, he immediately looked to the streets, eyes wandering about to decide upon which restaurant to have his dinner in.

The white sleeved shirt he wore betrayed him, red spots of dried bandit blood caused passing civilians to look at him with suspicion, one even running away in horror. It was an unfortunate circumstance, he could only hope that he would be allowed within any restaurant.. If not, then all he had to do was purchase a set of fresh clothing. Suddenly, before he could set out, the boy remembered the words spoken to him earlier by the Uchiha girl. She told him that they would speak later, and now that the mission was completed, perhaps the later she had meant was now. His golden eyes scanned the area, wandering around the cart to look for Aikiko. Since they were now both stuck in the village, he at least aimed to make the most out of the situation. If she’d accept, he wished to offer dinner on him.

The bandits indeed proved to be the only obstacle for their mission and the rest of the cart ride went on without a hitch. The merchant didn't seem phased by Aikiko's blood stained clothes even the horses seemed accustomed to it. Aikiko stayed silent for much of the ride, she had asked for some time alone with Kyousuke on the way back from the mission, Mizuki agreed and Aikiko reminded her that they'd meet for tea after. Depending on how their conversation went Kyousuke could end up invited as well. Having arrived at the small village near the border with the Land of Frost, Aikiko smiled at her employer thanking him for his contract and then leaping down to the street she bowed at him before walking off to the back of the cart to take Kyousuke by the arm his own clothes also covered in blood the pair would get some strange looks as she tried to drag him off. Aikiko found him quite immovable for small frame, she hadn't thought to account for this when she moved out. Instead giving his arm an awkward tug she began to speak, “About the other day... I feel that … maybe I could have handled my anger and disappointment better. Maybe.” Aikiko stopped short of actually apologizing, still reluctant to admit fault in the results of the skirmish.

Sure, she'd been the initial aggressor throwing some tiny shuriken into his back, they probably barely even hurt he could have just talked to her about it but nooooo he had to try to kill her what happened next wasn't her fault, it was his. It was easy for the Uchiha heiress to justify her actions to herself, “Now, you owe me an apology too. You tried to kill me and all I did was throw some simple Academy shuriken into your back. You didn't have to try to use your lightning speed to stab a sixteen year old girl in the throat, you deserved the lesson I gave you. Now, if we can call this settled we should have something eat before we meet Mizuki for tea. I told her that we'd be along a little later. You're coming right? Of course you are.” Aikiko hadn't felt this relaxed around someone since she'd decided to join Tasatsuke back to the Cloud Village. Since Hastur's fall she hadn't seen or heard from him. She'd like to think he just disappeared and didn't tell her but she feared him dead. Aikiko hadn't seen any of her “siblings” since the regime change. The raven haired teen looked Kyousuke in the eyes waiting for his reply, deep down she knew she should actually apologize but she wouldn't dare give up something so valuable without a fight. Kyousuke would have to pull it out of her kicking and screaming if he wanted a real apology. Aikiko once again began to notice how handsome he was as she gazed at him, Aikiko felt a warmth in her cheeks that was unfamiliar to her. Had Aikiko spent more time treating people as people instead of playthings she'd have known that she was blushing, unfortunately her inexperience might give her some embarrassment.

Golden eyes looked the other way searching for the Uchiha girl, suddenly he felt a pull on his right arm catching him off guard and nearly bringing him a step forward into Aikiko’s direction had his feet not been planted firmly to the ground. Instead the girl settled, tugging away at his once pearl white sleeve. The heir looked into her eyes with curiosity as she awkwardly tried to get her thoughts across. She started by mentioning the day of their first meeting, instantly bringing his eyebrows to rise along with the posture of his chin. “Oh?” He trailed with a smirk, interested in hearing what he expected to be a sincere apology coming from the Uchiha. She started off well enough, each stammer in her words brought joy to his heart, her clear embarrassment fuelling a wide grin that he attempted to restrain. He almost felt guilty for finding pleasure in her words while she struggled so hard to speak her mind. Almost. Stopping just short of saying the exact words he wanted to hear, it was time for the Sasaki heir to go on the offensive. He thought to unbutton his shirt and show her the bruises he had accumulated from their fight, burdening her with more guilt that he believed would lead into an apology. His gloved hands slowly moved to the collar of his shirt, he would get that apology from her and bring her pride down a peg.

Just as he was about to go through with his plan, the Uchiha mentioned his signature burst of lightning that came with an attempted thrust to her neck. The heir froze in place, his smug composure crumbling into pieces as she made a more than reasonable argument for her actions. Suddenly it was him who now needed to apologize for his actions. “But…” He paused, struggling to find an equally sound reason for his actions. Just days after the raikage’s downfall a stranger attacked him out of the blue with only words of insults as a warning. He had instantly thought of her to be a jashinist assassin made to kill him for his resistance against Hastur alongside Mizuki, but he couldn’t tell her any of that. “Fine.” He made a stubborn huff from his nostrils, yet eventually lowered his head to her waist in a bow. “Uchiha Aikiko, I sincerely apologize for trying to kill you even if I was trying to defend myself, know that I will never do so again… even if you did say those words that triggered my temper... and kicked my ribs more times than you would have needed to in order to end the fight.” His head rose with a friendly smile written on his face. Though he still wanted to hear her say those exact words of apology, he swallowed his pride and ungloved his right hand, stretching his bare hand out towards her. “I’ll agree to forgive you if you shake my hand.” Immediately after the handshake he’d wear the glove back on his right hand.

His eyes would move on to both of their attires as he listened to her speak. He doubted the two of them would be accepted anywhere looking the way they did. Before answering her invitation the boy formed a hand seal with his left hand, flowing water throughout his clothes and washing the blood away. “Stay still.” He said, moving his left hand to touch her shoulder and flow the same water to clean her bloodstained clothes. After that they were both clean, albeit completely damped. “Your turn, dry us up with your futon.” He suggested, combing his hair to be brushed upwards with his now gloved hands. “Speaking of food, I’ll be treating you to dinner as an apology, I’ll even let you decide the restaurant. And about tea with Mizuki-san... I don’t mind going, but I thought to let the two of you catch up. If you want me there, however, I’ll be there.” His golden eyes slyly drifted to their corners, waiting for her reaction. If she wanted to have him around then she would have to ask… nicely.

Kyosuke seemed to enjoy her attempt at apology immensely. His cocky grin made her want to slap him but now was a time for contrition so she'd have to grit her teeth and bear it with a smile. His own apology was far better than her own, leaving her embarrassed that he actually had done it rather than argue with her. He even went so far to say he'd be willing to forgive the matter if she simply shook his hand. Aikiko looked up at him, her normally steely expression being replaced with a softer more sincere look. She held her hand out for him, his grip was strong and his hands easily dwarfed his but he still seemed satisfied with the gesture all the same even if her small soft hands could barely cover his palm. The words came from her heart rather than her scheming mind this time, they flowed out of her mouth before she could think to stop them; “I'm sorry for hurting you Kyousuke, it was wrong of me. You had every right to defend yourself and to be angry at me. I don't know why I'm like this. It's li– ” Aikiko stopped mid sentence, her vulnerability finally setting into her thoughts caused her to cease her speech immediately. Aikiko's cheeks were fully flush by now.

The feud having been settled they were ready to move on, however they'd likely need a change of clothes before then. It would be unseemly to try to go to an establishment in their current state. Had Aikiko's sharingan been active she'd have seen Kyousuke gathering chakra before he told her not to move. His suiton chakra cleaned their clothes cleansing the blood and dirt from their battle from them. Kyousuke requested her to make a breeze to dry off their clothes to which she happily obliged, causing a warm breeze to blow across their faces sending her hair fluttering pleasantly while bringing them the dryness they desired. Truth be told, Aikiko was caught off guard by Kyousuke's offer, she'd never been able to keep someone from hating her long enough to ask her to dinner let alone for them to pay for it. Aikiko stammered, “Y-you and m-me? You w-want to eat with me?” Aikiko overcame the awkwardness that had taken over her and although she found that strange warmth on her cheeks again was able to speak courteously as she was raised, “That sounds most agreeable Kyousuke. Thank you for your kind offer. I'd love to have you come along with me for tea afterwards … the roads are dangerous after all, I'll let you lead the way since it's your treat.” Aikiko wrapped her arm around Kyousuke's and waited for him to take her away.

Hand stretched out in front of her, he gazed into her silver eyes seeing an expression he hadn’t thought her capable of ever making. In their short time of knowing each other she had only ever worn a blank look on her face, an expression that she seemed to always strive to maintain even when she had been angered. Now though a warmth radiated from her, an aura that gave out a feel of comfort. He wasn’t sure if his golden pupils deceived him, but she looked almost as if she was smiling. It was contagious. She took his hand and he held hers firmly, with a smile and a faint nod from him the two ended whatever faint hostility remained between the two of them. Suddenly she spoke, her thoughts this time fully expressed without hesitation. For the second time that night she surprised him, this time with the words of an actual apology even more genuine than that of his own. Once more he had been struck by a pang of guilt, while his own apology had truly been genuine, he had mixed his words with a hint of sarcasm that she had likely took to heart and caused her to apologize. He almost wanted to interrupt her and let her know he had no ill will or emotions of anger, but she already halted herself before she could finish whatever she wished to say. For a brief moment the heir simply stared at her, unsure of what to say in response to her genuine outpour, yet gathering his thoughts to at least say something. They had already shook their hands to bury the hatchet, and he had forgiven her rather easily, having already somewhat done so on his own before he had even seen her that day. Instead he simply flashed a smile and chose to move on. “You know… you look better when you're smiling.” He said, speaking as he used his Chakra to clean their clothing.

Following his suggestion, the Uchiha girl summoned a warm breeze to dry themselves and within a few seconds they both looked more than acceptable for any establishment. Fixing his hair, his eyes looked to hers whilst he offered to buy her dinner as well as giving her the option to speak with Mizuki on her own. She looked surprised to hear his offer, suddenly stammering in her words as she did so earlier. “I do.” He said, trying to affirm her questions. “It would be nice to have dinner with you.” He shifted his words from his first statement, now speaking more softly. Accepting his invitation for dinner, she offered her own, though this time for tea with Mizuki. He accepted with a nod, speaking yet suddenly being cut off. “That seems f-” For the third time that night she caught him off guard, this time by wrapping her arm around his own and telling him to lead the way. He was stunned momentarily, cheeks faintly glowing red. He turned his face away and cleared his throat. “Right… uh… dinner.” He himself now stammered, his arm linked to hers. Looking forwards to the streets ahead he walked forwards, passing the many civilians out on an evening stroll. The night was fairly peaceful, stars shimmered among the dark skies and cold airs breezed through the village. Still somewhat awkward, he couldn't find any words to say for once, instead simply leading her through the commercial districts in search of a restaurant in the silence of their close proximity. He wasn't sure what kind of food she would have wanted, so he had let her decide where to eat, but she returned the responsibility to him likely with the same hesitation.

Opting to take the safe option, Kyousuke took her to a traditional Japanese restaurant, one that he guessed anyone would be familiar with. Though in choosing, he decided on one that looked to be fancy enough for a member of the Uchiha clan, unable to let his pride be injured has she not found the food to be of quality. The two were greeted by a waitress at the front. “Table for two please.” He asked, prompting the waitress to lead them to an isolated wooden booth raised just a few feet from the ground. The heir would urge for his Uchiha companion to sit first, placing himself to the opposite side of her. Facing each other the two were served the restaurant's menu. With a fair space between them, his heartbeat had died down returning to normal. He could breathe easy. Having her hold on to his arm the way she did had caused him to unwillingly blush, though now that was over. “Feel free to have whatever you want. It's my treat after all.” He urged her to not shy away from ordering anything, he was the heir of a wealthy clan after all and that meant he had the responsibility to not be a cheapskate. “I'll have a bowl of Katsudon please, with red tea.” His words directed to the waitress who jotted down their orders and eventually leaving to the kitchen afterwards. Once again they were alone, and now awarded a few minutes to pass before they were served their meals. “Aikiko, if you don't mind me asking… you mentioned that you were from Iwagakure when we first met. What brought you all the way here?” He had asked her out initially as a sign of peace, but he couldn’t deny his curiosity towards her. He had always intended on asking more about her from that day they met, yet only now had he found a suitable time. He started with the question that raced through his mind the most, hopefully it wasn’t one that would ruin the night.

Aikiko felt her heart race when Kyousuke had complimented her, she'd not known many in her life so each one had greater impact. At first Aikiko had thought his offer was a cruelty, that he simply meant to mock her or humiliate her in some way. Instead she realized this could be the first friendship she'd made since she'd followed Tasatsuke to the Hidden Cloud Village. Finally though, it was Kyousuke's turn to be embarrassed, Aikiko's defenses having been let down she had for once acted her age. Her gentle touch seemed to catch him off guard, his cheeks turning red and his sentences turning to stammers. All his prior confidence had been shattered by a single touch of the Raven haired teen's small hand. Kyousuke had taken a leisurely pace that the Uchiha could keep up with, even if she had to take two steps for every one he made with his long legs. “You should be more careful Kyousuke, you're very reckless. I'd rather not see a friend in pain … I really am sorry by the way, do they still hurt?” Kyousuke had opted for a traditional meal taking her to a nicer restaurant. No doubt he thought to impress her, she'd accept graciously and would try not to let on how very ordinary it was for her.

Aikiko sat across from Kyousuke, she had a smile on her face she was just happy that someone actually wanted to spend time with her rather than being forced to do it. Kyousuke's order came first and when the waitress turned to her she was caught unprepared, she in fact jumped a bit when the waitress turned to her. She had been lost in thought, trying to figure out just exactly what Kyousuke thought of her. “I-I'll have the same thing. Please.” Aikiko added a rushed thanks at the end as the woman jotted down their orders and disappeared yet again from her world. Finally, Kyousuke had asked her a real question about herself, “My family home is in the Rain Country, my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to train in a large village so my mother arranged for me to enter in the Hidden Stone Village Academy. My mother has many connections, I sometimes wonder why she chose the Stone Village she could have sent me anywhere but she sent me there and … I hated it. No one tried as hard as me, and the few 'friends' I had made stopped talking to me after some time. I kind of miss them, I saw one of them at the last Chunin Exams actually. He did pretty well. Anyways, I came here as kind of an act of rebellion against my mother, she's a very cruel woman you see. Imagine if Mizuki-sensei slapped you anytime you made a mistake and made you fight your cousins to toughen you up. I hated her with all my being, and I hated the Stone Village so I stole her sword and I ran away to here. I came here seeking a friend and a mentor, I haven't seen my friend since the fall of Hastur I fear he died defending his father. So that only left Mizuki as a person who'd know me here and well... I got kind of jealous when I found out she'd already taken another student. It was a stupid reason to attack you. Now, you have to tell me about your family. What's your family like? Do you like it here?”
