Sunadokei glowered at the Uchiha woman that stood opposite her. So cocky, so arrogant, she would fight her herself but she felt Yoshihiro was the best possible opponent. The buxom Akimichi woman had no experience facing a Sharingan user, nor did she intend to learn in the heat of battle. At least Yojo could match her on even terms, she hoped. "You could try to kill me." She stated back coldly. "And you could fail." She would not waste more words on this women, she was not her foe. The nameless swordsman at her side was. Sunadokei's verdant green eyes remained locked on her foe, she had trouble focusing on multiple opponent's at once. For that she was glad she had Yojo to content with the uppity Uchiha woman on her behalf.

That only left the mystery of her own opponent. A man wielding a blade, though she could discern little else about him. The blade of his weapon immediately began crackling with electricity. "Lightning Release!" Sunadokei thought to herself, having heard the technique more so than actually seeing it. She had no time to prepare a defense, and precious little time to react at all. Her opponent had used no hand seals and his attack had been readied before she could begin her own offense. Sunadokei could do little than raise her arms and brace herself as a bolt of lightning escaped his weapon and collided with her. The jolt of energy coursed through Sunadokei, discharging through her feet into the ground. It sent her flying backwards, and she landed with a hard bounce before rolling backwards and coming to stand once more.

"Damn..." She thought to herself simply, "He's as tough as he looks..." her body already ached, and their battle had only just begun. Her hair and clothes were singed, and by the way her body throbbed with pain she figured something had to have been fractured, at a minimum. Sunadokei steadied herself, staring defiantly at her foe. "You'll have to do better than that!" She growled, throwing her right arm out towards her opponent as if throwing a punch.

Rather than merely strike the empty air, her limb continued on forward stretching out as if made of highly elastic rubber. Sunadokei forced caloric chakra into her arm, increasing its size and weight immensely as it stretched outwards, bridging the gap between the two shinobi. Her limb totaled at twenty meters in length, capped with a massive fist five meters across. Sunadokei grinned to herself, in spite of the throbbing pain in her limbs, as her enormous hand closed tight around her foe attempting to crush him in her iron grip.

Though she hoped to beat her foe, even if she couldn't she could at least stall him. Buy Yoshihiro enough time to defeat his own opponent and come to her aid. Sunadokei wagered if she could find a way to avoid further injury, she could try and outlast her opponent. She was an Akimichi, her reserves of calories should give her the edge in the longevity. Though she had no clue who the man she faced was, or what kekkai genkai he possessed. She knew she was throwing far too many variables to hope and chance, but she had to try. The rest of her allies were counting on her, Sunadokei wasn't anywhere close to ready to back down yet.

Thunder bellowed from his blade, the roar of raw lightning echoing throughout the surrounding area. Like a deer caught in the headlights, the leaf shinobi failed to act in time to evade or defend against his attack. The elemental force expelled from his blade, Kitetsu, crashing violently into the enemy and tossing the foe back like she was nothing more than ragdoll. The young swordsman, not so much as skipping a single heartbeat, followed up on his attack by sprinting towards the opponent at a steady pace, using his full speed yet not overexerting himself for the myriad of battles still to come. The black coat once rested on his shoulders strayed to the wind with his sudden acceleration past the leaf Uchiha. Kyousuke trusted his partner to deal with the man until he could make his return. He aimed to close the distance he had created between he and the opponent just as she was getting her bearings. The injured shinobi’s desperation escaped her body like the roar of a caged animal, her will taking form in the defiant words she cried out. Despite her attempt at masking the pain with her words, the heir would not be fooled. He knew better than anyone the devastation his bolt of lightning caused on her body and it became clearer as he closed the distance. Her outer skin had been burned thoroughly by his offensive jutsu, dermis exposed out in the open with blisters of red forming and though it would not be visible to his naked eyes, he knew her bones were just a touch away from crumbling into pieces, each displaced by the concussive force of his attack. It would have taken everything for her just to stand as she did and even more so to do it as she faced death, an act that would have impressed him were he not aware of the fact that it was nothing more than a bluff. It was time to end this.

Suddenly the girl motioned for a punch despite the still ten meter gap that separated the two, a clear sign that a jutsu of some sort would be in play. Reflex kicked in and his right hand took to grip Shusui’s hilt at his left hip, careful not to allow her an opportunity to retaliate with a jutsu of her own. He funneled his chakra to Shusui’s entirety, creating a seal within the blade. In one swift motion the young swordsman separated the second of his twin blades from its sheath, drawing Shusui one handed in a motion that allowed him to immediately cut into the air in front of him. The woman’s arm grew to gigantic proportions, stretching out towards his direction in what he could only guess was an attempt to take her vengeance. Just in time he expelled the seal outwards, his chakra taking on the physical shape of a five meter tall arc that collided with the hand midway through its destination. Upon contact the vortex of a seal began to devour each shred of chakra in her arm, forcing her limb to shrink and return to the normalcy it once was. The heir did not falter in his charge. He motioned Shusui to follow through with its cut, landing to his right side, whilst his other sword Kitetsu stretched out to the top of his head, ready for a downwards cut. Were it any other moment, he would have charged head first without any cover to prove his might, yet now he was fighting for more than just himself. Raiton flowed through Kitetsu’s edge producing a bright white light akin to the one he had earlier used to rally the troops, this light however was meant not to bring hope but instead bring harm to the invaders that sought to murder his people in cold blood. The light of his jutsu covered everything around him, searing the eyes of all within its range, stealing their sight and thrusting many to the unknown plains of death as the other Kumogakure soldiers began to fight back in an organized fashion.

His current enemy disabled, the Sasaki would finally close the gap with his innate speed. As he neared the foe, a blue streak of his intense chakra generated lightning would wrap both Kitetsu and Shusui to form an aura of raiton, supplementing the cutting edge of their blades with the power of his own electricity. With Kitetsu rested atop his right shoulder and Shusui held at the right side of his body, he charged at full force twin blades at the ready for the night’s first victim. No smug words would escape his lips, no proud expression to fulfill his glory, and no arrogance to cloud his clear vision. At that moment in the battlefield he was just one soldier that would fight with all his force to repel the Konohagakure troops, a lone knight that would protect his people through any means necessary. Entering the striking range of his weapons the young swordsman slashed both of his swords simultaneously. Two heavens, as one. Had he struck true the red paint of her vitality would seep away, Kitetsu opening her from left shoulder to right hip with a diagonally placed cut whilst Shusui painted her abdomen red with a bloody incision drawn horizontally just below the belly button. Whoever she was or however she had managed to continue fighting after being struck by his lightning bolt mattered not, he was an elite swordsman true to his heritage and no one escaped his blade.

His blade shimmered and shined through the perilous fight,

With the final judgement he would end her might.

The very last thing she would last lay sight was the golden Sasaki’s blinding light.

A second flow of raiton caused the twin blades to ignite,

A single movement of his arms prepared for one final smite.

For the crimes she committed against the land of the knight,

He sentenced her fate.

Eternal night.

Sunadokei

Sunadokei hit the ground like a ton of bricks, bouncing off the surface of the water and colliding with the shore line on her back. She gritted her teeth, looking at her injured arm. "Impossible." She muttered under her breath, wiping away flecks of blood from her pump lips. Her arm had felt, drained... The chakra pulled from her very muscles forcing her kekkai genkai to diffuse early. But how? A sealing jutsu? Medical ninjutsu? She didn't know, and that lack of information terrified her. Though Sunadokei would not falter. She looked around her, the battle still raging, too close to tell a winner. Her gaze then returned to her foe.

A blinding flash of light escaped the shinobi's blade, and Sunadokei instinctively raised a hand to shield her eyes from the glow. It was too late though, and the damage had been done. She cried out in agony, the flash Raiton blinding her as her eyes closed tight to protect themselves. "Bastard!" She roared with seething rage, knowing she had only moments to act before the next attack. Blinded as she may be, Sunadokei could still hear her opponent, his lightning releases crackled along the length of his blade and at least gave her an indication where he was. Normally, it wouldn't be much, but Sunadokei Akimichi had never counted herself as normal.

Forcing caloric chakra into her other arm, the less injured of the two, Sunadokei extended her limb into a massive fist. She hurled it forward like a freight train, aiming squarely at the source of the crackling sound of electricity, the warrior's blades. Hoping at least to counter his offensive. She knew she was outmatched, but it mattered little. The words of her father and all the other mentors in her life stuck in her head. Shinobi rule number four: A shinobi must always put the mission first. This mission, handed down to her by the powers she swore to serve. Was it right? Was it Just? It did not matter, only that it was her weight to shoulder. Her burden to help carry, victory or defeat she had to do her part to ensure its success. There could be no other way.

These thoughts raced through Sunadokei's mind, even as the bite of her foe's blades dug into her body. She felt her kimono grow slick with blood, skin burning as wounds were carved open across her torso. The pain was unlikely any she'd ever felt, and only sheer force of will and raw adrenaline kept her blacking out completely. She landed in a heap, cursing whatever gods were listening. Her right hand clenched the dirt, feeling it between her fingers. "Keep fighting." She told herself, but not before coughing up a mouthful of blood. Everything burned, every bone ached. Muscles screamed in pain even as she pushed herself to her feet.

Unsteady, and shaken, Sunadokei stood once more, fists raised in defiance. "Shinobi rule number 18... A shinobi must never show any sign of weakness." She told herself, her voice cracked and parched. She knew it was a crock of lies, she was bleeding heavily and had sustained unknown amounts of internal damage. But to hell with it, and to hell with her foe. If she died, she would die standing. She couldn't get away, she couldn't even see. Her only resource was to fight, he would do the same if their positions were reverse. "What do you fight for?" Sunadokei asked as she panted for breath, hoping to stall for more time. "What... drives you most?" Her chest rose and fell in heavy, shallow breaths as blood dripped to pool in the dirt below from her wounds.

"I fight... for my clan, my family. My home. I fight... because I am commanded to. It is not my place to decide when or where, only that I must." Tears formed at her eyes, as she listened to her own words. "Shinobi rule number twenty five, a Shinobi must never show their tears." She had failed, failed the rules by which she strove to live. Soon she'd have failed her mission, then... her life. The pain of that realization burned worse than any blow from her foe's sword, and she called out to him in a rage. "If you're going to kill me, then at least make it a death worth my time!" Sunadokei braced herself for the worst, there was little else she truly could do.

Heir vs Heiress (Mission | Invite) Cropped-56293058_p0

The purifying light of the young swordsman’s chakra emanated from his blade stealing the sight of the unworthy scum that sought to take the border for their twisted means. A rallying cry to the defenders, death for the invaders. The Konohagakure troops surrounding him panicked, eyes shut they cried out their final words. When all crumbled in fear of his light, a sole figure remained to stand against his blade. She summoned the last ounce of her will to crush him in one final act of desperation. Her limb extended outwards curled in a fist, attempting to harm him with the same offensive maneuver he had already shut down with ease. So focused on preserving her own life she threw away all tactics and memories of what had just transpired in the passed seconds of their battle. When most learned from their mistakes she simply repeated her blunder, one final error that would lead to her demise. At his right was Shusui, now wrapped once more in his seal. A cut from right to left expelled the wave of his vortex to collide with her limb, giving her the familiar sensation of her energy being forcefully stripped of her body. Kitetsu over his shoulder and Shusui now to his left he closed the distance, slicing her body with the same cuts he had earlier intended, only now Shusui tore her abdomen open from left to right. Her blood spilled, gushing torrents of her vitality like an opened geyser. The pearl white fabric of his formal attire was now painted in the gore of war. The heir’s golden eyes remained still, watching the body of his foe crash to the shore line. He emerged the victor of their duel, yet the battle still raged on. Around him was the chaos of war, and he knew that the shinobi he put down would not be the last foe he’d face.

The heir pivoted in place, searching for his Uchiha partner amidst the pile of bodies that littered the battlefield. Golden pupils scanned for her figure, yet all he saw was the bloodshed occuring around him. Just before the Sasaki could re-enter the fight he heard faint shifting of the dirt just beneath his feet. His eyes turned to their corners followed by the pivot of his body, identifying the source of the sound in a mere instant. Guts spilling and torso nearly torn asunder the weakened shinobi stood to her two fractured feet, eyes still forced shut. Blood covering her lips the heir raised Kitetsu once more above his right shoulder, readying for one final strike to end her suffering, but just before he could motion to follow through with his strike she spoke. Somehow, someway, through all the damage inflicted on her body she was still conscious and speaking. As if still wishing for more pain, she lifted her hands and balled them into fists defiant to the end. She echoed her thoughts aloud, muttering the shinobi rule that prevented her from showing weakness, yet her appearance betrayed her words and so too did her voice. Her fight was over and now only death would greet her. Her weak voice asked for his purpose, for what drove him. The words of one that simply wished for a final moment of peace. He had no time to answer her questions, nor did he have the luxury of a conversation. Each second that passed was a second where another soldier of Kaminari no Kuni was slain in an unjust battle, yet the boy was too honorable to let the final words of another fall on deaf ears. Instead he stood silent, allowing the girl to speak her mind for one last time.

When he chose not to speak and answer her question, the girl instead gave her own thoughts and reasons for entering the fray. It was then that her fate would be sealed. She should have shut her mouth and died peacefully on the ground, yet she chose to rise for what? A foolish cause that wasn’t even her own. All respect he had for the opposing shinobi died then and there with her final words. She had revealed herself to be nothing more than a tool to be given orders, forsaking whatever conscience existing within her brain that he now believed to be non existent. The people of Kumogakure… The people of the Sasaki clan each stood against the rule of a tyrannical raikage, one that brought terror to the world and most of all to the people he ruled over. Each man and woman forced themselves to fight against what was once their ally in order to restore the essence of their home, each knowing what was right and acting upon it even though they knew it would lead to the demise of their kage. Kyousuke had fought alongside his people, opposing the man that was meant to lead them towards a better future. Many fell against the self proclaimed god, yet in the end a new raikage was crowned and peace was finally returned to the Lands of Lightning. The heir had naively thought the peace would last, and despite being entrusted to protect the southern border he still believed the world could be as it was before, free from war. Now that peace crumbled to ashes and a fool stood before him claiming that it wasn’t her place to decide her actions. A jolt of rage sparked within him, her words angering him to new heights. How many innocent lives had she taken before he had cut her down? How many unborn children had she stripped of their fathers and mothers just because she had been ordered by another of a higher rank?

She was cattle that acted despite knowing she was wrong, and though tears formed within her eyes the boy’s golden pupils no longer felt pity. “Shinobi rule nu-” The swift and sudden stroke of the heir’s blade ripped her throat apart. Kitetsu tearing through her flesh like a guillotine before she could utter another word of hypocrisy. Whatever she wished to say was now overcome by the gurgling noise of blood seeping from her neck.

“I fight for the lives of my people, I fight for peace within the Lands of Lightning, and most of all... I fight to end those like you who pretend to be just, yet fail to act against what is right or wrong. I am the warrior you have heard of in legends, pure of heart and awakened by fury. I am the hope of the Sasaki. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good. Nightmare to you.”

Sunadokei

Sunadokei

D-rank
Sunadokei heard the swish of the blade, cutting its way through the air. She winced, bracing herself for the end. Hoping at least her ancestors would look upon her bravery and that her death would buy her comrades the time they needed. Hot steel bit into her neck, and she wanted to scream but could not find the strength to force the air from her lungs. Her hands shot up to clutch at her throat, to stem the bleeding. Sunadokei fell to her knees, still blinded and in terribly agony. Her legs had given out, her strength was failing. Her body desperately converting calories into chakra in a last ditch attempt to save herself. More a subconscious reaction than a conscious effort, her waking thoughts were quickly fading.

With a wet thud Sunadokei hit the ground, the earth beneath her slick with her own blood. It stained her kimono a deep crimson, and already she felt light headed from blood loss. She reached out, grabbing fistfuls of earth and still trying to pry herself forwards towards her foe in one last act of defiance. Trying to buy a last few precious moments of time for her comrades. Just a few seconds, it couldn't be much, but she prayed it would be enough. Her arms no one had the strength to move her, as she tried to move from her bloodied heap in total futility. Tears ran down her eyes, as she was forced to listen to her opponent's speech.

What she heard filled her heart with anger, who was he to claim who is just, and who is not? Who was he, to dare to say she failed to act against right and wrong. All the people she'd helped, the lives she'd saved, even in her short tenure as a Genin. They existed, they mattered, they mattered to her and they mattered to the village. He had to right to claim she failed to act in the name of right and wrong. No, he was wrong. Blinded by his pride, and his opinion of himself. Climb down from that pedestal and look at the world around you. He was no god, here to dispense judgement down on the common man.

A rage burned in her heart, one Sunadokei would have sold her soul to act on. To cut down this warrior's hubris, to strip him of his self righteousness and see him beaten into the same mortality she was. Maybe Yoshihiro could do it. He was much stronger than she was. Or N'Jobu, or Mikumi-sensei, or even Lord Kimura. Maybe one of them would avenge her, surely none could stop the Dragon Sage, the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. How she wished Kimura-sama was here now. Her allies, they were all so much stronger than she was. She was weak, and she had failed. Sunadokei thought of failing them was unbearable. The thought of all the people she had let down, who would never see her again. The faces of her family flashed in her mind, her cousins and uncles, her siblings and grandparents. Her mother... and her father. Makaro and Kikyo Akimichi's faces stuck in her mind for a second. As Sunadokei tried to reach out for anything to grasp, one last time.

"Father..." The lasts word she could summon the strength to say slipped from her bruised lips. Barely above a whisper, none but her could have heard it. Her strength gave out, and her arm feel limp, connecting with nothing but the blood soaked ground beneath it. Sunadokei exhaled slowly, the color drained from her face as blood poured from her wounds. Everything was so dark, she couldn't see, couldn't even find the strength to open her eyes. It was so dark, and so cold. So very cold. In another few moments she slipped from consciousness, at this point she welcomed the comforting embrace that called out to her. She could fight its call no longer.

Takao

Heir vs Heiress (Mission | Invite) D6ehE4O

From the north, in the midst of his own battle, Takao had dispatched a haul of ten clones. They were not intended to help him in his fight, but were charged with the task of aiding the shinobi of the Leaf. This was not their fight, it was barely even his, but if he needed to hold the weight of it all himself to spare them the hardship, he would do so without a second thought. Their safety was his duty, anything less was a personal failure.

The clone landed like a meteorite falling from the sky, shrouded in flames and crashing with enough force to shatter the earth where his boots made contact. His gaze rested on the prone, unconscious form of Sunadokei, one of the Leaf shinobi that had been forced into his fight, and his eyebrows furrowed. Blood pooled beneath her, she wasn't moving. Maybe she was dead.

If Kyousuke had remained in the area, Takao would stare with cold black eyes that pierced like daggers. Although it was only a clone, the pressure of his chakra seeped into the air, filling it with a deep, oppressive sense of dread. It was a wordless attempt to dissuade him from further action. Takao didn't kill children, if he could help it.

He approached Sunadokei, knelt at her side, and slowly eased her onto her back. The wounds he examined were well beyond any field dressing he could provide, so he lifted his gloved hand to his mouth. The glove itself was removed, tossed aside, and the thumb of his scarred extremity was sliced bloody by his teeth. Hand seals were formed, blood was smeared across his palm, and his hand was slammed into the dirt to the side. A circle of seal formulae stretched outward as he poured chakra inside, calling forth an ancient being from another realm. Clouds of smoke erupted from within, emitting shrill hisses until they cleared a mere moment later.

Standing within the circle was a small creature, less than two feet tall, lurched forward on its hind legs. Part of its body was clad in deep black scales, the rest in bare grey hide with gelatinous-looking portions that light passed through. The reptilian creature had one golden eye, an empty socket with a long, jagged scar through it, a single wing, and jagged teeth protruding from its maw.

"Geni'zo." Takao addressed the small dragon.

"Nnh... What's going o-..." The dragon's light, nasally voice was in stark contrast to Takao's deep timbre, and cut short upon seeing Sunadokei's bloodied form. "Huwoah! Ya'done a number on this one, kid!"

"Not me." Takao said pointedly. "Fix her."

"Ah, right, right, right... Yeesh. Lesse whats we got here..." Geni'zo approached Sunadokei, waddling on his hind legs. Disproportionately long arms clapped as he sat by her head and exhaled a swathe of green flames over his hands. He moved the flames closer to Sunadokei's neck and watched closely as the blood she lost evaporated and the wound slowly closed.

"Quite the bust on 'er, eh? Ent never seen one like it--" A swift, firm slap to the back of Geni'zo's head knocked the crass remark aside. "Yoaw!"

"Shut up! Just get her in condition to be moved and I'll take her back to the village to finish treatment."

"Aright, aright." A moment more of healing, burning away the wound and closing the flesh that had been rent asunder, was all it took to put her in a condition well enough to be endure rapid transit back to the village. "'ere, she's good t'go."

"Thanks." Takao said, sliding his arms under her form and lifting her into his arms with little effort. He stood, smeared the formulae circle with the sole of his boot, and looked back to the small dragon.

"There might be more that need healed, so get ready to be summoned again." He said as jets of flame built at his back, hissing and whirring as they grew more volatile. Faster than one could blink, he was gone, disappearing deep into the wilderness of Land of Frost, his speed mocking the distance that separated the minor country from the Hidden Leaf. His face was twisted into a scowl, angry at himself for not doing this all himself, for getting mere genin involved and injured, but most of all, sparks of rage were growing inside him like a wildfire. These orders came from above, and as angry as he was that he hadn't disobeyed them, there was a greater source.

Sunadokei

D-rank
It was so cold, so dark. Sunadokei's mind retreated into itself as she lie crumbled in a dying heap. Her thoughts flashed before her in her mind's eye, showing her the course of her life in a fever dream of visions. Her earliest memories, no older than four or five. Being held in her father's arms as he carried her on a bicep through the Akimichi estate. Her mother helping her blow out the candles at her birthday party. She saw her siblings, standing around the waiting room as the younger ones were born, or sharing in their lives as they grew up together. All her brothers and sisters, they fought, they quarreled, they grew up together, they loved on another. She would cry, but her body was cold and her mind had trapped itself away out of necessity for survival.

Sunadokei watched as her entire life was laid bare before her. Her years at the Academy, every test studied for at the dinner table with her mother, every jutsu practiced for hours in the courtyard with her father. Both their faces beaming with pride at her graduation. Her Academy friends and classmates, some of which were no longer living. The Shinobi way of life took a great toll on many. Her first mission under Hokage Rippa, how proud she had been accepting the mission scroll from his hand. In truth it had been helping find a lost cat, but at the time it felt like saving the entire world. Her father had ruffled her hair and held her tight in his arms as she recounted her story at home. Truly it was one of her happiest memories.

"Father." Sunadokei tried to mouth the words again, her lips did not so much as part and her vocal cords did not strum to produce so much as a sound. The last of her memories were more recent, from the last several years. Her tenure as a Genin, a shinobi. Missions that seemed so important then, all blurring together now. Friends made, friends lost. Her first love, Kuramitsu Nara, the man at one point she'd hoped to spend the rest of her life with. And now this, this last fool's errand. Her grave, her death sentence. How proud her mother had looked as she told her the news. How she wished her father had been home, she lamented she could have been able to tell him goodbye.

It was then Sunadokei felt something, something that wasn't agonizing pain her body did everything in its power to block out. Heat, warmth, like the warm, soothing heat of a hearthstone's fire on a cold winter's night. Rejuvenating, invigorating, Sunadokei could feel wounds closed, and tissue mended. Not so much because they were healed, but because the pain of their injury lessened. Skin was stitched shut, cauterized closed and blood ceased to flow freely. She felt her strength returning, if only just enough to stave off death's cold hand. "Daddy?" She whispered, looking up at the shadowy form of the man who loomed towering over her. Still nearly blinded from the damned Kumo-nin's jutsu, her vision was still hazy and fogged. She say shapes and color, but not yet form or definition.

"Daddy!" Sunadokei repeated herself, speaking through her cracked hoarse voice as she struggled out her word. Her vocal cords still healing, she'd been gashed across the neck after all. "I knew you'd come." The looming figure she mistook for her father. Makaro Akimichi had been so strong in her mind, her idolized father had punctuated even her earliest memories as they flashed before her. "You came to save me." She cooed, piecing together that somehow her father had heard of their mission going south, and had diverted Team Ino-Shika-Cho to rescue them. Even now the heads of clan Nara and Yamanaka were surely carving a bloody swath though their enemies, driving them back and securing the objective Sunadokei had been unable to capture. That must be it, it filled her with a comforting sense of safety.

Sunadokei heard her father say something, tinnitus rung out in her ears and she could barely make out the words he said. She mumbled back her own incoherent words, her mouth struggling to form the right sounds. Everything still ached, even though the worse of the pain had sided. She felt the cool rush of air on her face. They were moving. Had they won? Was her father taking her to their camp? To the medical-nin? Home? She could feel his strong arms holding her close against his chest. He was so warm, like a fire glowed within him. Was he always this warm? She could scarcely think as is. Such puzzles were beyond her. Sunadokei looked up, gazing into her father's blurry face, masked in shadow by the sun at their backs. "Thank you for rescuing me Daddy... I knew you'd never leave your princess to die." She cooed softly, snuggling up against the man's chest and letting out a content sigh, knowing she was safe in his arms.

Interrupted by his blade, her words would forever go unheard. She fell to the damp dirt, just one more body among many lost in this unjust battle. Though he served as the catalyst of her demise, her fate had already been sealed when she decided to fight for the wrong cause long before their encounter. This time he made sure she would rise no longer, this time he would not turn away. He watched as she took her final breaths, feeling no pity nor pleasure in taking another's life. He had simply done what was right, his duty. She was the enemy of good, a cog in the greater army that had arrived to slaughter his people and take their lands. Those who broke the rules of the ninja world were considered to be scum, but those that acted despite knowing themselves to be wrong were even worse than scum, and she was just that. One who fought for the will of another, a weapon to be pointed at without question. Nothing more than a common hitman. His rage quelled his emotions, mind only focused on one goal. She was only the first of many lives he would need to take. In order to repel the enemy forces and protect his people he would need to throw away the value of life. They cared not for the lives of his people, so the only way to win was to bear the same lack of empathy. He had truly been given no choice if he wanted to safeguard the lives of those he cared for.

Finally the faintest of movements halted, she had fully slipped from consciousness. Now all that was left was for her breath to abandon her like her senses had. There was no longer any point in waiting just in case she would miraculously rise to stand on her two feet, the enemy was defeated and he had made a promise to return to his partner, a promise that he intended to keep no matter what. It was his plan to leave Aikiko facing her Uchiha sibling, a plan that relied on him to slay his opponent in rapid fashion and return to his comrade with haste in order to create a two versus one scenario, a simple enough plan. So far he had fulfilled his part perfectly, finishing the battle as quick as he could have possibly hoped, though in his rapid onslaught he had surely wasted a good amount of chakra. All he needed to do now was return to his partner, an act easier said than done. Like a true novice of war, the heir had failed to take in the factor of chaos ever present in the battlefield when had crafted his plan. His golden irises scanned the landscape, searching for any signs of the Uchiha girl only to be left in disappointment. Had she been slain? Was she now swimming beneath the bodies of water? He attempted to suffocate all thoughts of the worst possible outcome, yet his gut feeling told him he needed to find her as soon as possible.

His body moved, sprinting towards the direction of their stand off, the place he had last seen her. Just before he could escape the area, a comet would land just meters behind him. The impact of the projectile crashing to the ground sent shockwaves all across the battlefield. He instinctively turned to the source, arms raised to cover himself from whatever force descended to the land of mortals. He tightened his grip on the hilts of his twin blades, making sure they would not be stripped from his side. When the wave settled he slowly lowered his arms, eyes locked to the newly arrived figure. A tall man of both raven hair and eyes stood just beside his defeated opponent, staring at the young swordsman with eyes that sought to pierce into his very existence. The atmosphere grew thick. The simple presence of the raven haired man brought about the feeling of chains weighing down on his body. He was nearly frozen in place, unable to move for but a moment until he heard of the man's name. He was not the only one who had noticed his presence, the more knowledged soldiers of Kumogakure spoke the man's name in horror, fleeing away as they did. The man was Takao Kimura, none other than the Hokage. Kyousuke’s eyes widened, brows furrowed in growing anger. Before him was the man who had assuredly schemed this entire battle, before him was the man responsible for the deaths of so many innocent lives, before him was the man who had just ended peace… and most importantly, before him was the man who led the forces of Konohagakure no Sato.

The lone knight stood before the fiery dragon, knowing full well that the creature was far out of his reach. He stared back into the dark abyss, eyes wrought with golden lightning’s fury. Though it seemed as if the creature cared not for his presence, instead tending to the wounds of the fallen kunoichi, it saved her specifically out of all the thousands that perished in the battlefield. He could have done nothing, simply allow the dragon to walk away freely, yet his honor would not allow that to happen. It was a kage, one that likely surpassed him in all aspects of combat. He should have retreated with the rest, it was certainly the smart thing to do. Yet what would his words mean if he did not live up to them with actions? He fought for the lives of his people. He fought for peace. He fought to end the unjust. And so he could not falter, not even against the greatest foe. He would end this war here and now. With the death of the Hokage came the end of all conflict, and that was an opportunity he could never in his life pass up. The heir summoned each ounce of his will, left arm raised to point Kitetsu’s edge to the creature.

“You call yourself a Kage?!” He called, sparks of lightning forming around his legs. “You who take the lives of innocent soldiers that guard the border? All for what? A lust for power? Revenge against the false god? Who are you to end our peace?!” His words cried out true, unshaken by the dragon's presence. The young swordsman lowered his stance, arms crossed to hold both blades in opposite sides. “I am Kyousuke, heir to the Sasaki clan and Genin of Kumogakure!” The lightning coursed from his legs to his body, wrapping his entirety in crackling bolts of raw raiton chakra.  “For the crimes you have committed against Kaminari no Kuni, for the unjust battle you have started, and for the many lives that have fallen under your orders…” Twin blades turned a violent blue, now wrapped once more in the force of lightning that had ended the leaf kunoichi’s fight. “I sentence you to die!” Lightning built up around him, all erupting in a thundering boom of energy that echoed all throughout the battlefield. He left nothing but dust in his wake, closing all gaps between him and the dragon within less than half of a second. Preemptively his blades shot forth in a scissoring cut, aiming to completely slice the dragon's neck and end its life along with the war.

A shrill voice from behind lit the silence. His head turned and his gaze trailed over his shoulder, furrowed brows eyeing the lightning that shrouded his legs. An idiot kid playing hero, desperately trying to be the valiant knight that slew the evil dragon. If only he knew it was only a clone, he might not have thrown his life away so recklessly. But life was full of tragedy and injustice. This day was nothing more than another example to be forgotten in the war-torn annals of history.

Takao lowered Sunadokei to the ground, carefully set her down, then turned to Kyousuke and began to walk closer. Kyousuke dropped into a stance, crossing his blades and readying himself to attack, but Takao continued to walk unhindered. The lightning crept to the rest of his body and the blades began to shimmer, yet he walked. The genin leaped and struck, swinging both blades for his neck, but fortune would not favour him.

Black chakra crept from his body, seeping out from the pores of his skin and bubbling into the air. It was invisible to the naked eye but one could feel it as if they were looking at a picture. 'Black Origin Threshold' erupted from his core and oppressed the area with a terrible feeling of dread and pressure. Kyousuke would have been subject to its most caustic effects, which threatened to halt all actions immediately and instantly stop people in their tracks. The lightning from the blades tickled the hairs on his neck by the time its effects would have effected him proper.

Takao would lift his right arm and reach for Kyousuke's nearest arm and grip it firmly by the wrist. He would lift him from the ground, slowly, squeezing the joint to force him to drop the sword. The other one didn't matter. If he tried anything, he'd snap that twig too.

"What peace?" His voice escaped as complete monotone, not a shred of cadence or lilt.

"Your last Raikage didn't want peace. Your current Rikage doesn't want peace. Do you expect the world to wait idly by while your conquerors and rats bide for time and power, threaten our peace?" Takao said, wholly unimpressed by the self-righteous boy in front of him. "The previous Hokage was assassinated by a Cloud shinobi. His orders, I wonder, or the order of the current?"

Takao slowly lifted him off the ground by his arm. Black Origin Threshold would keep him frozen there, lest there be tricks up his sleeve, but he doubted that the self-proclaimed genin could muster such a resistance. He unzipped his flak jacket and pulled both its collar and the collar of his undershirt to the side. The branches of a scar crept from his back, over his shoulder, and down onto his chest, accompanied by a deeper scar from which it originated.

"This is from your current Raikage. It was meant for an innocent girl in Inabayama. She was attacked by the terrorist insurgents, and your Raikage decided to help his Raiu bitch attack us. Aimed at an innocent that was trying to flee. If I hadn't stepped in the way, this would've hit her." He'd let his anger get the better of him now. The cool facade he tried to keep up had broken down. The shinobi he brought were just as innocent as the guardsmen that were being slaughtered. If the roles were reversed, they would have acted no different. That was the job of a shinobi. He didn't hate the Cloud, he loved the Leaf, and he would do anything for her. Takao released the collar of his shirt and started to squeeze Kyousuke's arm. It was time to leave him with a message.

"Your peace ended when he attacked her." Takao said through clenched teeth, visage twisted into an irate scowl. He pulled him just a bit closer and his grip tightened. More bones cracked and shattered under the force of his grasp. His digits rolled, twisting and grinding them.

"Now he reaps what he sowed."

Finally, Takao's grip clamped down hard around Kyousuke's forearm and jerked to the side with enough force to snap it proper. He wrapped it slowly so that the upper portion of his forearm would touch his elbow. Hopefully, it was enough to put him out of commission, with luck, and get him out of the fight. He'd be killed otherwise. With his arm broken and mutilated, Takao would throw him hard into the dirt twenty-meters or so away.

Rank: A
Type: Defensive | Supplementary
Element: -
Range: User
Specialty: Ninpō
Duration: 1 post
Description: Black Origin Threshold emits a powerful, pungent aura that affects those within a 40-meter radius of the user, although it can be felt without effect up to 500-meters away. This emanation inflicts full-body paralysis onto those within the area for one post, bringing all actions to an immediate halt as the atmosphere adopts an immense, overbearing chakra pressure, as if the air itself was pushing them down.

Additionally, this technique hardens the outermost layers to a solidity akin to steel. This change is invisible to the naked eye, although chakra-seeing dōjutsu would notice that the user's body is covered in chakra. Basic strikes of any rank of strength are able to be blocked without injury to the user. This chakra acts as a full-body defense against incoming chakra, effectively blocking up to 1 technique up to S-Rank.

One last breath to build courage. The young swordsman summoned every last shred of chakra he could muster, building it all up within his body to fuel the next and final move. For a brief moment he was nothing but raw energy, lightning made flesh, a destructive force to be feared by men, yet the one before him was no man. With his twin blades he would end the dragon’s life, with his strike he would end the raging battle. Fear did not exist within him and neither did the possibility of defeat, it couldn’t, not if he wished to stuff out all thoughts that would have led to the slightest hesitation. Justice was his ally, yet even that was not enough to ensure victory. Try as he would he could not fully stuff out that voice in the back of his head telling him he had no chance. He removed all thoughts of the world and his surroundings, only one thing remained. There came the dragon, each stomp of its foot echoing tremors throughout the surrounding area. His words pierced through its skin, and it came marching straight towards him with seemingly no regard for its own life. It either had a death wish or it severely underestimated him. He leaned towards the latter, doubting that it would be so easy to kill a Kage. He was foolishly brave, but not stupid. He had fought alongside others who his abilities could not yet reach, and he could tell from aura alone that this dragon was one of those people. He knew more than anyone that the odds were stacked against him, had he been any lesser then he would have tucked tail and cower like the rest, but he was a Sasaki. Time seemingly slowed to a halt, these moments could have very well been his last. No matter what he'd win, either in victory or death. The child who slew the dragon, or the martyr who gave his life. There was no more hesitation. One last breath to bring down lightning’s wrath.

The boom of his dash heard throughout what felt like the entire world placed all eyes upon him, the hopes of his people, the scorn of invaders. The Dragon of the Leaf and the Child Hero of the Clouds. As if he stood any chance. Electricity coursed from the tip of his blades to each fiber of his being. They crackled in anger, infected by his passion to safeguard his home lands. One stroke was all it would take. To annihilate in one blow. To cleave the dragon’s head from its body, his arms shot forth aiming to paint red for a second time that night. His mind moved, will unshaken, yet his body came to an abrupt stop just a few centimeters shy of the dragon’s neck. His eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t move, couldn’t speak, couldn’t breathe. He felt a pressure unlike anything he had ever felt before, forming cracks on his very soul. His mind raced, yet not a single ounce of fear entered him. His eyes spoke for the words he could not form, the same golden irises as they were just moments ago, wrought with anger staring at the source of the evil around him. A vice grip tightened on his left arm, slowly squeezing his wrist like a bottle of tin can. He clenched his teeth in pain, though no sounds escaped him. He had failed to kill the creature, so now it was his turn to die. The child faced death with no fear, prepared to give his short life in that moment to spark a greater fight within the hearts of his people. Strike me down and I shall rise more powerful than you could ever imagine. He would have urged the dragon to take his life then and there had he been able to move his tongue. Unable to do anything though, the young swordsman was forced to drop one of his blades to the depths of the river, Kitetsu being lost to field of battle. He was lifted, feet stripped of the ground and all footing that came along with it.

A cold voice escaped the dragon's lips. It answered spouting utter nonsense, a waste of breath and time for those that would listen. Hypocrite. He based his idiotic actions on the crimes of the false god, a self proclaimed deity that the people of Kaminari no Kuni fought to bring down. And how could he ever know the intentions of the current raikage if he never waited for change to occur? It was a poor attempt at justifying its actions, one that was made clear by the lack of wisdom of its baseless accusation. A country in civil war assassinating the leader of another? A grasp at straws, and a stupid one at that. It showed the Sasaki heir scars accumulated in battle, speaking of the man that inflicted those injuries. It called his people terrorists, and worst of all it insulted his mentor, Mizuki. She had spoken of the dragon just once, enough for him to know that she was the Raiu it talked of. Whatever pain inflicted upon him simply turned to rage. It was just another power hungry kage no different from the one Kumogakure had already gotten rid of. Finally it answered his question, giving it’s true reason for slaughtering the lives of innocents. A girl. All the blood shed that day was all because the big bad dragon wanted revenge for a girl. Revenge. He wanted to spit at it. He wanted to let it know how stupid it was. He wanted to end it. But he couldn’t. Such blatant disregard for life did not deserve to exist, not in any world. He cursed at it from his mind and finally, swore an oath. His arm snapped, the ends of his bone exiting his skin as forearm met his shoulder in ways it wasn’t ever supposed to meet, yet he did not so much as flinch. From his mind he spoke words only to be heard by him. End me now, or one day I shall come to bring you justice. It failed.

It tossed him away, skipping his body off of the water until he would reach the other side of the river, back whence he came. A new bone shattered with each strike at the water, but soon he felt his movements returning to him as the distance grew. He had one good arm, and slowly even Shusui would be lost as he was thrown like a pebble. Blood exited his body with each bounce, death would greet him had he met solid ground at such a velocity. He summoned his chakra. A poof of white, and suddenly there was nothing more than a wet black coat floating along the winds. Kyousuke gasped for air, yet instead swallowed water. He was below the depths, with him the bodies of all that were slain in the unjust battle. It felt as if every bone in his body cracked. He tried to swim to the surface, yet his body wouldn’t dare move. He felt his energy depart from him, and soon so would his consciousness. His eyes slowly grew weak. He took one final look at the others around him. There was a child, white of hair, with his body mutilated in disgusting fashion. He could have been no older than ten, in his hand clutched the symbol of Kumogakure. In the depths of water rage built up inside him once more. He cursed, anger directed towards the dragon. He screamed, echoes lost in the water, but its tremors would be felt. Everything moved away from him, his body emanating a new wave of chakra. Rage had unlocked something within him. He felt everything around him in ways he couldn’t previously do. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before, far different from his Matagi Shingan. It took him a while, but he realized what it was. His mind brought back memories of Mizuki, the first time she had activated her sage mode in his vicinity. Natural chakra. He looked to his hands, vision slowly dimming, yet a renewed energy coursing through his veins. Water surrounded him, and suddenly he jetted towards the surface.

Description: An age-old skill that requires some forethought, it allows the user to swap places with a prepared object in the surroundings at untraceable speed. An item for use with this technique must either be a clone, an object the size of the user's torso, or a willing living being of similar size; by infusing the decoy with chakra before or after making the hand seals, the user can activate this technique later without any indication, but only when they are about to sustain a blow from an oncoming attack

When they do so, the decoy and the user move to switch positions with each other, both at speeds not even the keenest Perception can detect. An afterimage is often formed in the process of the decoy taking the hit, making it seem as if the user was hit; skilled ninja can even manipulate their chakra to make it seem as if the afterimage is bleeding. After a short time, a brief cloud of smoke issues from the decoy, revealing its true nature; the user also audibly reappears in the location they hid their decoy before it moved.

As the user is moving at speeds untraceable to human perception even they cannot detect what is going on around them, or even activate any other jutsu. They cannot prepare or coordinate during this extreme movement, but can reorient themselves and attack after they have come to a stop.
