Noxxi

Noxxi

D-rank
There was a streak of blue on the horizon as the blue haired and eyed ice user dressed in garb of blue and white made her way towards her destination barefoot - and hopefully the place of death for those after her. She knew well the direction she was going once she had got her bearings, and knew where the final resting place would be for those after her - either by her own hand, or the hand of the creatures residing there. She had been held captive for three weeks, under the constant threat of being sold, and while she didn’t know for sure if the disappearance of one lone orphan Genin would be noticed she prayed someone was looking for her. Some of the other captives were already gone, their fates unknown to the young Genin, while others had remained behind at the house while she was taken away.

Bandits were stupid: they didn’t know when to quit. Sure, they might have somewhat of the upper hand due to Noxxi being sickly, but then again so did she because she knew exactly where to lure them to. They had been chasing her for some time now: after kidnapping her and various other people whom they intended on selling to the highest bidder, they had found her in the cell they had been keeping her in of some sparse giant house near death. They had taken her to a private clinic not far away, and while they had threatened her life if she spoke but a single word, it hadn’t stopped her from escaping the moment they couldn’t accompany her.

That had resulted in them chasing after her the moment they realized that she was gone, and while they were fast in their own right, their bulky bodies proved a problem in moving across the terrain. Water and mud slowed them down, whereas Noxxi’s own light-weight body allowed for faster movement without the hazard of getting stuck, and while the various shrubbery and so forth she broke through with ease, they ended up being caught and entangled. Spider Island was closing in fast, and through the use of a thin coating of chakra on the bottom of her feet she skated across the water, propelled faster by her previous speed, giving her a good advantage of distance between herself and her pursuers.

Of course, she knew that by going on this route she was putting herself in danger as well, but it was a calculated risk she was willing to take. The man she had considered like a father to her had long since disappeared even before she was kidnapped, and with no one else to call on for help this was her best chance at surviving. If nothing else at least the men after her would be dead and gone, giving the captives left behind a chance to escape on their own.

Reaching the island she bobbed and weaved through the trees, ignoring the bridge entirely in favor of hoping to slow those chasing after her down. While she knew exactly where she was they didn’t, as they never slowed in their pursuit. She hoped that the noise they were creating, far more than her own far quieter bare footsteps, would attract attention onto them. It wouldn’t be long before she reached the path, coming to a halt and looking behind her. One of the men had already badly injured himself - having accidentally impaled himself on a spiky tree, and while nearly the rest of the ten had ended up getting themselves caught up in one way or another, three broke through almost immediately.

“You, little lady, have caused us a lot of trouble.”, one of the men spoke as he lunged at her. Instead of standing still in fright as perhaps a normal child would have, Noxxi ducked down, picking up a spike from one of the trees that had fallen onto the ground. Moving behind him she made quick work of jumping up and onto his back, jabbing the spike into one eye and then the other: not nearly deep enough to kill him in such a manner because she didn’t have the strength to back the attack from that angle, but surely enough to blind him. Screams of pain filled the air, and as his two companions rushed towards her she used the mans back like a springboard, propelling herself away from their grasp and landing softly on her feet some six feet away. “Of course I caused you trouble: you kidnapped me. You didn’t expect me to remain docile for long, did you?”, Noxxi snapped back, her fear making her brave. To be honest she was more scared of the men after her than she was of anything lurking in the darkness and the mist. Animals, spiders, and bugs she could understand, humans however were a complication all on their own. The sound of cursing came from her right where some of the other men were breaking through, and while her blue eyed gaze shifted in that direction quick enough to see if they had managed to break through yet - which they hadn’t - she kept the majority of her attention on the two in front of her while her hearing remained focused on the world around her, sure that something or someone could hear the now blind bandits sobs and screams of agony.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
The tyrant of spider island quietly lurked in the shadows of the trees, having ditched her human form for her natural one - that of a misty white wolf spider the size of a wagon. It didn't happen often these days that Haka was seen in her arachnid nature, too occupied dealing with Kirigakure's affairs and running the island like the regent her Dark Father expected her to be, but there were moments - such as now - where she took some time for herself and revelled in the thought of truly being herself. A moment of respite. Slowly consuming an unfortunate victim from a previous hunt. An infiltrator trying to discover some of Kirigakure's current state of affairs. He had failed in his attempt to remain unseen by Kirigakure's forces, yet had successfully outrun them until he had been foolish enough to run over the bridge and through the torii gate that marked the entrance to the Osada clan's domain. The dark environment had not scared him, believing the Kiri-nin to be afraid to chase him further. His cocky grin had also been his last one as he ran straight into the silken web of the island's spiders. One more victim to its harrowing reputation.

Draining the body of its internal organs, the wolf spider quietly enjoyed her food until her keen senses picked up the sound of trouble along the shores of the island. She initially held no interest in the events, trusting the spiderlings scattered within the dead woods to take care of whatever had stumbled into this arachnid nightmare realm, but the anxious skittering and general hesitation of the spider horde eventually changed her mind. Leaving what remained of her food for the horde of starving spiderlings, the wolf spider surreptitiously moved through her homeland, sticking to the shadows, until she could take note of what was happening.

Eight black beady eyes taking in the scene. A kid, three men. One of them howling in pain as his hand rested upon his blinded eye. Unusual, for human children were generally not capable of dealing with three adults to that point, and thus something that kept the aranean queen's attention. Slowly she'd move closer, her nightmarish aura gradually cloaking the shores of the island like a cloud hiding the sun. The only thing to betray her hidden presence. Settled in her new position, she'd hiss her orders to deal with the wounded man to her nearby brethren. Though her arachnid speech was hardly audible, it sounded like acid burned through a substance - the will of the queen directing the weaker members of the spider clan.

And while Haka herself remained unmoving within the shadows, watching the survival instinct of the ten year old human, the spiders of the island would soon rush in to assist in taking down their designated blinded prey.

He had been absolutely humiliated.

His position as a Hunter-nin gave him the responsibility to hunt down both traitors who would attempt to flee the village and also those who would dare to infiltrate Kirigakure. This man who he had been given the command to hunt should not have given him even a moment of trouble. It was an absolutely routine mission, however his sloppiness had alerted them to his presence long before his blades would be able to reach their throat. That they had been so slippery as to escape his gaze and then outrun him was an egregious failure. He would be lucky if he wasn’t immediately dishonorably discharged from the Hunter-nin after this outrageous spectacle. That was only if he failed to catch them before they fled the country, however. It was a twist of his luck that they had chosen to flee where they had.

Spider Island.

Perhaps he would be able to salvage what was left of his dignity. He came to the island across the torii gate clad completely in Hunter-nin uniform. The armored flak jacket and mask covered what would have been otherwise a fully black outfit. This was supposed to be an unassuming disguise that granted him anonymity and made him functionally distinct from other Hunter-nin, as well as protect his identity. His pink hair ruined all of that though, and made him incredibly distinct. Pink wasn’t exactly a stealthy color. Rather than in it’s usual braid he would have his hair down now, streaming down to the small of his back. It was part of what alerted them to his presence, and what would make him easily recognizable to them should he find them again. Not to mention that if he didn’t kill them that his identity out of the Hunter-nin would be essentially forfeit. This made it imperative that he took their heads. Chigetsu was beginning to regret dying his hair this color.

Arriving here gave him a second wind. It felt like returning home, albeit unannounced. Returning here at this point was a matter of formality. He was sure that the natives of this island would make short work of the intruder. He only needed to retrieve their head to confirm their death. Perhaps that was reason enough for him to hurry. If he wasn’t the first to these person the spiders would surely leave nothing recognizable. Only bones, and that was if he was lucky. Bringing back a mangled skull would mean nothing to his superiors, and would be effectively the same as failure. With this in mind he would pick up his pace. Although, perhaps being booted from the Hunter-nin wouldn’t be the worst thing. Subtly and stealth were never Chigetsu’s forte. He was much too clumsy for either, despite how hard he tried.

The screams of pain that filled the air gave him a clue to where his target might be. He would make haste in seeking them out.

The scene that he came across wouldn’t be what he expected. Three men. None of them appeared to be his target. A child too, who was unaccounted for. She was glanced at for a moment, his eyes caught by her blue hair, before returning to the others. His eyes absorbed the rest of the scene. The spike caught in the eye. The horde of skittling spiders that approached the four. The tinge in the air that immediately penetrated into his spine. He could feel Haka’s presence. She was familiar enough to him that the aura she emitted was something he could recognize now, even if he wasn’t able to spot her location otherwise. Where exactly she was, or how far away, he was unaware. It didn’t matter either, in the moment. She outdid him in the arts of stealth considerably, so he wouldn’t be surprised if she already knew of his position, and his identity through this mask and uniform as well. That was only to be expected from someone of her talents. She wasn’t a factor he had to be cautious of, generally.

He would consider watching the surrounded four as they died. They didn’t seem to pose a chance, especially the blinded one and the child. As none of them were the man he was looking for, Chigetsu had no reason to care what happened to them. However, there was the necessity of an interrogation now. Finding out what these few knew, and if they could lead him to the one he was searching for, was imperative. His eyes would settle on the weakest, smallest, uninjured member of the group. The small girl. Chigetsu would take a moment to prepare. Chakra would be flowed out into a close log, and after his substitution target was set he would pounce.

Chigetsu was fast. Enough so to have comfortably become a Jonin, at the very least. From his position on the tree branch where he had been overlooking the scene he would pounce downwards. Both feet would make contact on the ground beside the new targets of his interest. The speed at which he hit the ground would let a dull, wet thud that would echo out into the surroundings. In a single fluid motion, only moments after his heels would hit dirt, he would place both his hands on the girl. He had no way of easily knocking her out, and even if he did attempting to do so with someone who appeared so frail might have had unfortunate consequences. Chigetsu choose to effectively scoop her up from behind, picking her up in a sudden and forced bridal carry. It wasn’t the most effective kidnapping method, but it would likely be enough in this moment. He naively didn’t expect such a young child to present much of a threat to him either.

Once he had her the substitution would be sprung. The log that he had prepared would take his place on the ground, and the two of them would be carried with a blinding speed back up to his original position in the trees. In this position, they could easily both watch what would end up happening to the men.

Through the slits in his mask he would glare down at her.

Though it wasn't ever an easy journey, I had gotten a little used to the trek between the mainland of the Land of Water and the close Spider Island. I didn't come here often, but I had come to research in Master Sero's library which he so generously lent me access to. It was a creepy place, sure, but it was absolutely amazing how much cool material he had on different seals, their use in history, their developers, the reasons behind their construction, and so much more. I was very grateful to Master Sero for such an opportunity. I still had my obligations as a ninja though, so I started heading back to meet with the rest of my team.

I made my way through the garden of old statues and into the forest, following a familiar path that would take me back towards the misty, broken bridge. Back towards a place where I didn't feel this constant...tension. This ever-present feeling that something was trying to burrow its way deep inside of me, replacing whatever part of me that was there before was just pure fear. Luckily, training with Master Sero, among other notable things, had helped me improve my focus and control of my own mind, needing to block out fear if I was to train effectively.

I had walked for a bit when I noticed something quite peculiar.

Where are the red eyes?

The red eyes of the island's arachnid denizens usually filled the empty spaces in the trees around me, but right now it seemed that there were fewer than ever before.

What's going on? Maybe it's feeding time or something? Or what if they were summoned for some purpose? Or they could just -

Suddenly, I heard a scream from my right pierce the relative silence. I dashed along the treetops in that direction as the screams continued, the level of despair embedded only becoming more and more clear the closer I got. When I finally reached the site, I noticed the mass of spiders in front of me and felt my determination in finding out what was going on drain out of me as I felt another presence. Not unlike Master Sero's, but unique all the same. Something else that felt like a natural, yet concentrated, extension of the island itself was present here. I had definitely not felt this mentally draining, yet totally nonphysical, pressure before. It was new, and it was scary.

The mass of spiders seemed to be the reason for the screaming in front of me. Not the direct cause -- they weren't screaming themselves -- but their victims futilely screaming and agonizing on the ground caused the sounds of horror, while a blue-haired girl stood with her guard up. I had been warned of the consequences of visiting the island when unwelcome before, but the scene in front of me drained the color from my face. I had seen some horrific things before, but this was something else. But before I could even react to the situation in front of me, the blue-haired girl suddenly disappeared. Without any warning, and without me having seen her make any hand signs (though to be fair, I could only see her right side), she just...vanished, leaving behind only the log of a substitution jutsu.

What the...? Why use it now, when nobody was attacking her? And where did she go? I've never seen her before, but maybe she's another student, or another resident of the island?

Wherever she went, it wasn't exactly my most pressing concern at the moment. I heard more voices, obviously having heard the screams as well, from behind and below me. I didn't quite know who these guys were, but if they were an enemy of the spiders', then it couldn't be good that they were here. Taking a moment to muster up my courage, repeating internally to myself that I'd fought people just like this before, and that I'd surely regret not helping, I took out a kunai and leapt down. I was hoping to land on top of one of them for an easy and early kill, but the source of the voice managed to spot me and sidestep behind a tree. I rolled to reposition myself and to lessen the impact of the fall, taking note of my surroundings when I was once again upright. Thankfully, there were only two figures in front of me, a man and a woman, wearing very similar attire to the people the spiders attacked. They were scratched up, breathing decently heavily, and had an intense look in their eyes. I wasn't sure if it was hatred, anger, or a combination, but I decided now wouldn't be the best time for personal questions. The man was holding a kunai while the woman had two hand-axes. Not the most typical weapons, but not unheard of, especially when chopping through a dense forest. The man spoke up.

"And who's THIS kid?!?"

Instead of introducing myself through traditional methods, I decided to skip the formalities and just deal with them before any more could show up. If there were even any more in the first place. I threw my kunai at the woman, made the hand signs Tiger, Dragon, Snake, and slammed my hands on the ground, causing earthen tendrils to shoot towards the man. The woman, after blocking my kunai with both of her blades, saw her opportunity to catch me off guard and rushed towards me with her weapons ready.

Come on, come on, come on!

The tendrils had successfully captured his legs, but it took a moment for my active part in the jutsu to end. As soon as the seal formed, solidifying the jutsu, I tried to jump back, but the woman was just too quick, managing to slice my upper arm with her right handaxe. She continued pressing forward, slicing very aggressively as I was forced to continually retreat, almost losing my footing on the forest floor. Luckily for me, she was obviously already quite tired from something, and she seemed to be losing steam quite quickly. One of her slices was overbroad, and I was able react quickly to put a chakra-draining seal on her back. Not having a very developed chakra network, and being pretty physically drained by this point, she collapsed to the ground. From backing up, I was now basically in the small clearing I had originally seen, with the spiders finishing off their meals. There was still the bound man, but I didn't even know if he was still bound at this point. I needed a moment to catch my breath before heading back in. My blood flow from my arm hadn't stopped, but I didn't want to take the time to make a makeshift tourniquet. Not when there was still an enemy here. I looked around at the spiders.

"So, I don't suppose any of you know who these people are?"

Jutsu Referenced:
Binding Leg Seal:
Name: Earth Style: Binding Leg Seal
Origin: Custom
Rank: C (15+5 chakra)
Type: Offensive
Element: Doton
Range: 10m
Specialty: Ninjutsu/Fuinjutsu
Duration: 2 posts
Cooldown: N/A
Hand Seals: Tiger-Dragon-Snake-(Fingers interlocked, palms facing forward on ground)
Description: Earthen tendrils travel at ground level from the user’s palms at a rate of 40 m/s. These tendrils are homing, dependent on a direct line of sight with the target. The tendrils then quickly wrap around the target’s legs, rooting themselves to the ground, immobilizing the target’s legs. If successful, the user can then create a seal with a set amount of chakra that will sustain the jutsu by feeding it user-provided chakra while keeping the user’s hands free. This jutsu’s weakness lies in its limited range, and in the increased chakra cost needed to "power" the seal, making this jutsu cost 20 chakra total. As the chakra for the seal is flowing through the tendrils, the full cost of the jutsu must be paid regardless of whether or not the seal is created.
Minor Chakra Seal:
Name: Minor Chakra Seal
Origin: Custom
Rank: D (10 chakra)
Type: Offensive
Element: None
Range: Touch
Specialty: Fuinjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: N/A
Hand Seals: Ox-Ram
Description: After performing the hand signs, the user applies a small (1.5 inches in diameter) seal to a part of the target’s body by touching that part of the body with two fingers from the user's right hand. If explicitly stated in the post in which the jutsu is activated, this can instead be accomplished with the user's left hand. When the seal is applied, chakra surrounding the seal is drawn in by the user's imbued chakra pulling at it, and locked up so the target can no longer use it for the duration of the thread. Unsealing this seal results in the harmless dissipation of the bound chakra, not returning it to the user or target in any usable manner. Each seal captures 20 chakra. This is not meant as a defensive jutsu, merely a jutsu that drains chakra.

A small figure floated through the seas of Mizu no Kuni, one nearly impossible to make out from the constant mist and ever moving tides. Lost adrift with no thoughts or senses, she simply closed her eyes and dreamt of everything that had led her to this point in her young life. She saw her family in her mind, the people back in the orphanage she had grown up in. Slowly their faces began to fade from her mind like a burnt picture. Slowly she was starting to forget. Oh how she wished to return to those times of joy, yet Shiro knew they would no longer accept her. If they had seen what she had become… she paused, wincing just at the thought. She couldn't bare to think what they'd call her, she couldn't bare to lose the last thoughts of home. Like garbage she had been tossed to sea, stabbed and burnt at the stake by villagers who called her a monster for butchering and dining on the guts of a horse. None of it worked, every torn skin simply reformed, every broken bone simply replaced. The only damage ever done was to her mind. Tears welled up in her eyes, though lost amongst the sea of water she found herself in. She was a monster, so many had said as much. Slowly the tides swallowed her whole, drowning her deeper and deeper into the dark abyss down below. Though burning in the salt water, her eyes would not shut. There was nothing that could hurt her. Nothing she could feel. Everything was simply. Nothing. Eventually, though, even her vision began to fade. A whirlpool took her in, sucking her small frame in an unending vortex to be her burial grounds. Her lungs welled up, bloated with water as she kept breathing even beneath the sea line. She could feel nothing, and so she could not feel her own death approaching. Everything. Faded. Black.

Time passed, how long? She did not know. Washed ashore, winds greeted her. The small girl coughed and vomited, expelling all that she had swallowed to regain her breathing. Still devoid of consciousness, she simply lay along the shoreline. By the time her eyes reopened her vision had become shrouded. Had her body been what it once was then she would have felt each nibble on her regenerating flesh. Spiders big enough to the size of boulders all surrounded her body. Again and again they nibbled on her flesh, for she was an unlimited source of meat. She took the one attached to her face, the one that ate her eyelids again and again, the one that had woken her from her slumber and stared at it. In response the other struck her with venom that would have caused her excruciating pain, had she not been numb. To her it was simply nothing, not even something she would notice. Shiro lost herself in thought, wondering how to punish the arachnid that had decided she was nothing more than food. Her stomach grumbled. How long had it been since she ate that horse? How long had it been since she tasted something? Suddenly she shoved the entire spider into her small mouth. Her teeth clenching, blue juices spilled everywhere on her jaw. Each crack of the spider's exoskeleton was heard by the child, the only thing that let her know that she was indeed eating. Crunchy. Still she couldn't taste, yet she mustered every ounce of her imagination. Fried chicken. It made the same noises, so it must have tasted the same. She chewed and swallowed, yet her stomach continued to growl in hunger. More. More. More. She picked up one after the other, stuffing all within her mouth, teeth sharpening into razor edges.

Soon the creatures would catch on, turning and crawling away from the small girl. She watched, puzzled by their movements, were they afraid of little old her? Don't leave me. She rose, slowly standing on two feet. Her clothes were tattered, almost non existent save to cover her important bits. Black rags covered her clothing and body, worn like a coat that stopped just above her knee. With weak steps she followed the spiders, arms stretched out to reach for them. They weren't running away. They weren't abandoning her. They just wanted to play. Hide. And. Seek. Her lips opened, still flowing with the blue blood of unfinished spider remains. Food that she hadn't realized was still in her mouth. "The itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the water spout, down came the rain and washed the spider out~" She sang with each step, repeating the one line over and over again like a broken record, only interrupted at moments where she'd pick up a spider and munch. Even then she'd hum. The spiders led her to others, the sounds of voices in the distance. There was another girl, just around her age, blue of hair. The first she'd seen since she had escaped the camp. Shiro smiled at her, waving her right hand to greet, yet she seemed too preoccupied playing with the adults to notice. She'd wait, twiddling her thumbs behind her back. She was a patient girl. She was a good girl. But she wanted to play too. For now she watched, she didn’t want to interrupt her new friend. Suddenly she felt something. For the first time in years she felt a tingle in her spine. It tickled, the sensation of something she had not felt in so long. She giggled uncontrollably. It felt so good. Suddenly one spoke, talking to her new friend. They played together, one screaming so happy. The other girl spoke, though Shiro would only hear one word.

She couldn’t let that happen. Not to someone else. Her claw extended, reaching for the masked figure as it sped towards the other child. She was too late. It grabbed her, disappearing in a cloud of white smoke, replaced by a log.Shiro screamed. Everything hurt. Her claw gripped the log, tail slamming it to the ground over and over again until it was nothing more than twigs. After she seemed to calm down. Tail slowly returning to her body until one man made a noise. “Shit.” Suddenly the tail jutted forwards, reaching the man’s neck in seconds. She had forgotten about them. Claws dug into the man’s neck, pulling a red hole in the throat. Description: Shiro builds up chakra around the lower spine area, rapidly increasing the growth of her vertebrae to create a fifth limb. A 5 meter long arm-like tail made of pure bones begins to protrude from her lower back. At the end of the tail are 4 sharp claws that are able to cut 1.5 inches deep into targets. The tail is able to move at 20 m/s and extend itself up to 15 meters. Though the tail is able to cut and pierce with its claws, it is also able to do blunt damage; when used in a whip like manner, the tail is able to cause fractures and knockback targets depending on the impact. Acting like a weapon, the tail is able to defend basic strikes. When formed, the jutsu can only be stopped once Shiro’s tail is retracted or destroyed.

Noxxi

Noxxi

D-rank
She was almost at a loss on how she was going to handle so many bandits. While one of the three who had broken through was now blinded and in excruciating pain there were two more before her, and another seven who from the sounds of the crashing and cursing were about to break through and join their comrades. While she wasn’t exactly a civilian in the most basic sense of the word, she was so fresh out of the Academy she might as well have been. Handling this many opponents, especially as currently sickly and frail as she was? Well, it was a losing battle. Of course that didn’t mean she was going to give up: no, she was going to give this fight all she had or die in the process because she knew what the only other option was - letting them catch her again and sell her off to only the gods knew who.

But then she felt the hairs rising up on the back of her neck, a sense of dread filling her that if she was anyone else would have likely sent her running for her life. Following this came a sound: many legs, all moving closer. While her blue eyed gaze had remained on the main two opponents she had to worry about she caught movement out of the corner of her eye and shifted her gaze onto the blinded bandit in time to see him swarmed by spiders the screams from the pain he was already experiencing now doubled with a massive dose of fear. While this explained the noise she had heard it certainly didn’t explain the eerie presence she was feeling. Nonetheless she couldn’t exactly focus on where it was coming from as there were more pressing matters before her.

While the bandits on their way to come get her likely would have counted as pressing it was more the wet sounding thud that further filled her with fear. She hadn’t even had time to look behind her before she felt her legs swept out from beneath her and her back caught before she could hit the ground. She barely registered that she was being held in a bridal like position before the pair were suddenly no longer in the spot they had just been in and instead were quite some distance away with a puff of smoke being all that remained of them. She recognized what had happened immediately as a substitution jutsu and her blue eyed gaze shot up to the mask the being was wearing as what little color was left to her icey pale flesh drained from her: a masked individual was holding her and from the look of the glare that was directed towards her through the slits in it she was likely in deep trouble.

A new, unfamiliar voice, caused her attention to shift back to the bandits in time to see that another was down and being consumed by spiders. If this new addition to the “party” wasn’t enough another individual made themselves known with blue blood dripping from their mouth. If the blood wasn’t strange enough to make Noxxi question the girl on who she was the tail protruding from her certainly did the trick. With the third bandit going down the other seven broke through to join the fray, four of whom immediately laid eyes upon the spiders and burned as pale as Noxxi was before attempting to run off: a single prize just wasn’t enough motivation for them to stick around and be consumed by something out of a horrific nightmare.

While Noxxi would have loved to watch what would happen to the remaining three bandits at the hands of the two newcomers she had more pressing matters to deal with - such as who was holding her. That question, or demand to be put down as it were, would have to wait however as she felt a coughing fit start. Bringing her right hand to her mouth automatically to cover her she felt her entire body tremble and jerk from the sheer force of the violent coughing which lasted nearly twenty seconds before she could finally draw in a ragged breath. Moving her hand away from her mouth she glanced down at it only for her eyes to widen with horror at the sight of blood coating her otherwise markless flesh: her sickness was once more rearing its head, and her lungs were now suffering from it. ”Oh crap…”, she managed to whisper before once more she would begin to cough violently.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
The situation quickly escalated. What had first been three bandits taking on a girl turned into a real chaos. A mass of spiders rushed towards one man while the white spider observed the situation. Then a few more kids appeared. One of them bore the blessing of the Dark Father - a face Haka had not met yet but of whom she had heard of from her arachnid kin. He seemed eager to join into the fray to fight the bandits, disregarding the spider horde like he was one of them while he applied basic Fuinjutsu techniques to take out his opponent. Another interesting find, since he didn't allow fear to rule his mind, nor aimed to fail in a situation which might quickly surpass his capabilities. A boy invited by her father... She expected him to surpass the weak limitations of his own human kin, or suffer the consequences if he proved too weak to do so.

As for the other one? Haka couldn't say, though the remnants of a spider in her mouth told her that the kid at least bore some survival instinct. Self-defence, tyranny or hunger, it mattered not to the aranean queen. She had no intention of moving from her spot just yet, and the life of a weak spider was hardly something to be bothered about when the Spider School's teachings were nothing short of being an echo of the Blood Mist itself.

Focusing her attention back onto the first kid, the shadow of a remotely familiar presence appeared to save the day. A noble soul bearing Sero's demonic curse; a Hunter-nin just like herself. Like all of their own kind, the Hunter-nin hid their identity as they moved in to deal with their threats but that totally out of place pink hair and the dark pulse she was more than familiar with left little to doubt to the Unmei. Most likely that heroic presence was Chigetsu, but unless she could confirm her speculations the tyrant did not consider it a priority to know at this point in time. The Hunter-nin grabbed the kid and instantly substituted out of the battle towards safety, leaving her father's human visitor alone to deal with seven more incoming bandits, and a loli fighting the Hunter's substitute log.

Having seen enough, it was time to move.

Emerging from the shadows, the ghost white wolf spider rushed into the clearing. Its size alone imposing and leaving little to the imagination when it came to the origins of its oppressive aura. Eight beady eyes briefly fixated upon the incoming bandits to print their presence into her mind before a strand of chakra webbing was spit out of her mouth and latched onto the last bandit standing on the shores. Effortlessly, he'd be yanked closer, the strength behind it strong enough to have him flail about and lose his weapons mid-air. A few meters before her, he'd hit the ground, roll wildly closer by his sheer velocity and end up right before the spider's presence. Terror in his eyes, he'd see acid drip out of her mouth before the Unmei bit him to inject its venom. The screams of pain resulting from that bite were blood-curling. In pure agony, he'd crawl over the ground, body twisting in uncomfortable shapes, before he died with a frothing mouth and a snapped spine. What was then left of him slowly melted as the acid continued to consume him.

All the while, the spider horde had devoured their first target with a raving hunger that had cleaned the bones completely clean. Already they were moving over to the next targets - the one the boy had taken down and the victim of the aranean queen. They left nothing to chance, the opportunity of fresh meat a rare occasion within the deadening lands of Osada island.

The other seven were about to arrive. Bold courage and rage was already showing the first cracks of terror when they saw how their allies had been taken out by kids, then devoured by countless tiny spiders. With the nightmarish aura greeting them, hairs would raise in response before frantic gazed laid eyes on the giant spider. For a moment, tension rose as seven pair of eyes assessed the eight apathetic beads of darkness staring back at them.

"Come, let us curse your soul to an eternity of damnation in Hansha.", the wolf spider whispered in its arachnid speech.
"I-I think it's speaking..."
"D-don't tell nonsense!"
"Let's get that kid. All of them, now!"

Determination bolstered by their goals, the seven started their charge...

It seemed as though she didn’t plan to resist. All of her spunk was either spent blinding that earlier man, or something had shifted in the atmosphere to drop her hostility. Maybe she recognized that Chigetsu didn’t mean her any excessive harm, and would likely only lightly harm her if she cooperated. Though that was doubtful. The glare he gave her was one of ‘don’t move a muscle’, and while she seemed to be willing to cooperate in that respect, at least initially, her body didn’t seem to agree. An eyebrow would raise behind the blank expression of his mask. The coughing and trembling hadn’t been what he expected. After seeing this girl, even as little as she was, blind a man without hesitation, Chigetsu’s first instinct was that this was a trick. Was she feigning weakness in order to drop his guard? He couldn’t tell. Chigetsu wasn’t medically trained. At least, not nearly enough to tell apart real illness from fake, much less make a diagnosis. It suddenly became uncomfortable for him. Was this girl going to die in his arms? That sounded like an incredibly unpleasant experience. And what if she was contagious? Would he become infected from having her cough so close to him? It began to be that the method in which he held her was stiff and uncomfortable, as if he regretted picking her up in the first place.

“Don’t move” he would say to the violently coughing girl as if she had any control over any of what was happening right now. “Stay silent and don’t struggle, and you won’t be hurt.” How meaningless his words were incredibly apparent, especially as she couldn’t exactly keep silent with her coughing fit. Their position was undoubtedly given away by now. An annoyed sigh would escape his lips as he turned to address the unfolding situation. What had begun as a mess up was quickly turning into absolute chaos. Chaotic situations on the battlefield were something of a specialty of his, but this was a sort of chaos that couldn’t be solved by excessive applications of tentacles. At least, he didn’t think so.

Like moving pieces on a chess board, two new children would appear. Chigetsu was familiar with both of them, but it was pretty easy to make initial assumptions given their immediate behavior. The child who came approaching with the horde of spiders could safely be ignored. The fact that they managed to safely weave through the attacking spiders and join in on swarming their target revealed him to be an individual allied with the island. Whether he was one of Haka’s, or even Sero’s, he couldn’t tell, but really the difference was irrelevant.

The other was something that drew much more of his attention. A strange little girl. Blue blood, which he quickly recognized as that which would come from an arachnid, dripped messily down her jaw. While the other child had been unaware of Chigetsu’s presence on the battlefield, this girl had been able to spot him in his descent. It was clear from the manner in which claws extended from her the tail coming from her spine and pierced right through the log that she was hostile as well, either targeting himself or this girl he had swooped up. The bones gave her away as a Kaguya. The manner in which she was speaking after tearing out a man’s throat gave her away as insane. If his hands weren’t occupied at the moment he would have put a water bullet through her throat. She was lucky. Or maybe he was unlucky. With the girl in his arms coughing it would only be a matter of time until the unruly Kaguya came at him again.

The emergence of the massive spider caught him off guard and interrupted his previous train of thought. While Chigetsu was aware that there were spiders on this island, obviously, he had no idea they could get to be this large. It caught him off guard, and he could only watch as it tore into one of the unfortunate three that had approached with the girl. He had been fine with watching this all unfold previously, but seeing this spider emerge had made Chigetsu a bit nervous. Action was necessary now. The liquid inside his stomach would twist and turn, rumbling about as his internals formed hand seals. Dog. Tiger. It was a simple technique, only having two hand seals. Five clones would erupt out from his lower body, splashing out in a manner that showered the ground beneath him with rain and exposed the liquid nature of his body. These clones would descend to the ground along with these droplets of ‘rain’, although they would be completely different once they hit the ground. The pink of his hair had been erased, and rather than five clones of Chigetsu each would be created in the visiage of an anonymous member of the Hunter-nin. None would have distinguishing features to separate one from the other. The five clones would approach on the scene, arriving shortly after the new influx of bandits. Rather than completely reveal themselves they would wait in the shadows, fanning out quickly in a semi-circle around the scene of action.

With that taken care of, Chigetsu would turn back down to the girl. “It would be best if you told me everything you know”, it what he wanted to say, but it was obvious that she was in no condition for an interrogation. He would drop down to the ground from his position up in the trees, landing as softly as he could. The poor child would be rested down against the tree’s trunk, propped up into what he hoped was comfortable. His earlier worries about this sickness being a ruse on the behalf of the girl had disappeared from his mind, and more than anything else he was beginning to take pity on her. He would peel off the glaring, anonymous Hunter-nin mask and reveal his face now in hopes it would prevent this girl from getting overly intimidated by the situation she was in.

“You’re not going to die on me, are you?” He would look at her idly, clearly knowing nothing of her condition. “Take a breath and calm down if you can. There’s a lot of explaining for you to do once you manage to catch your breath.”

Description:

  • Ability - Mugen Bakuha: When destroyed, water clones possessing this ability become vapor which reforms on the post following their destruction provided the vapor is capable of recollecting.

Throng of Grudges | 私怨集或  Shenshūaru is a technique that creates Water Clones with the properties of the Water Prison Jutsu. Water Clones created by this technique activate on contact with a target, and because they compose the orb of water instead of being connected to it, there is no entity to attack in order to escape - they have to do as much damage to the water as it would take to destroy the Water Clone. The person within the prison is unable to escape unless they destroy the Water Clone imprisoning them. When the clone is acting as a Water Prison it cannot simply be punched to death though, and may only be damaged through burning, electrocution, and other tissue damage effects. This makes it similar in power to the singular Water Prison, but its strength is in its numbers - it can either repeatedly hamper one enemy or capture a multitude of foes en masse. Five Water Clones are created with these properties by this technique, which all seek out their foes at 40 meters per second. When not behaving as a Water Prison, these clones automatically disperse when hit by any attack that can cause the equivalence of a A-Rank technique in physical damage, or an A-Rank/two B-Rank offensive jutsu. Elemental clones created will have a 'clone' of the user's items up to A-Rank in strength.

To be completely honest, this is not how I expected my day to go.

I was in a forest of spiders (literally and metaphorically) because I chased a scream, a blue-haired girl vanished while the spiders mauled the people she was with, and now there's another person I've never seen before who I'm pretty sure just almost decapitated a guy with a tail made out of bone.

It was weird.

After I had taken the moment to recover from my wound, I had noticed the newest shinobi to enter the fray behind me, punching a pretty solid whole in the neck of the guy I had previously restrained with my Earth Binding Seal. I wasn't sure exactly how he got out, maybe in my haste I finished the seal improperly, but he sure was regretting escaping. Well, in the briefest moment before he died, that is. He had just stumbled into the spiders' snack zone when she had killed him faster than I could recognize either one of them were even there. She was taking out the same people I was taking out, which was a good sign, but the look in her eyes seemed to be of a person who would just as quickly kill me as fight alongside me.

Okay: Keeping an eye on her and her terrifying tail. And in case any more show up, or in case she does decide to make me her next target, a little armor wouldn't hurt.

I stopped holding my cut arm in order to make the necessary hand seal.

Only one seal for this one. Snake.

I felt better about my predicament as the thin armor quickly surrounded me. It was heavy, especially in the arms and torso, but I knew it was effective. Although, this was actually my first time using it outside of The Burrow, and its first use in any kind of combat. Before I had time to process anything else, a GIANT white spider moved scarily fast out of the woods and just straight-up dissolved one of the enemies after pulling it closer with a well-placed web.

I stared at the creature before me with a mix of horror and amazement. Luckily for my sanity, or perhaps a worrying indicator of its decline, amazement won out in the end. It clearly had an aura of power unlike anything I had seen before. I wondered how many spiders on the island were like this, how many were this dangerous. As much as it was a mentally straining exercise to come here to train, moments like these could make it worth it.

"That's so cool," I muttered under my breath, producing a faint smile in my excitement. There wasn't any time to gawk though, and seemingly to emphasize that point, seven more of the trespassers came into view. Upon seeing the state of their comrades, devoured or being devoured by the arachnids of the island, four of them tried to flee, but quickly found themselves surrounded by even more spiders, of which there seemed absolutely no shortage. A fact I was very grateful for as I considered the absurdity of the fact that I, a genin, had apparently thought this was a task I could handle.

Too late now. Can't show weakness at this point, or else I'll get devoured alongside them. Plus, with the new spider, I don't think we'll have much trouble at all.

I looked back at the bone-tailed ninja.

Hopefully.

I heard a loud, violent coughing some from somewhere above me, but a battle-cry from one of the criminals beat it out for my attention. While the other trespassers were still looking quite worried, one of them shouted, "Let's get that kid. All of them, now!"

...Wait, which kid was he referring to? Or by "all of them," did he mean all the kids? In which case, that means I'm one of the primary targets, along with the blue-haired girl, whose location I still have no idea about, and the kunoichi behind me, whom only now I noticed had something blue around her mouth this entire time. Anyways, time to focus on the battle, Nobuya.

As the seven remaining foes charged towards us, I stored a Water Style: Shield Seal in my right hand. I didn't think that I would need it necessarily, but just because the two I fought previously didn't have developed chakra networks, it didn't mean that none of them would. I would still be using my Minor Chakra Seal as my main offense just in case, though. If I might get an easy victory, and I'd be hurting their chances either way, I might as well.

I didn't quite know what anybody else was going to do, as I wasn't even quite sure who was fighting with whom, but my basic strategy was pretty simple. I would hopefully be able to isolate them, or at least only fight a very small group at a time. I would try to dodge out of the way of any attacks. The armor was strong, and it didn't slow me down too much, but I knew that it could wear me out quickly. Stamina was something I really needed to work on. Still, the armor would let me tank a couple hits while I tagged them with my chakra sealing jutsu. Simple enough. Hopefully it would work.

I picked my target and ran forward.

What have I gotten myself into?

[OOC: Forgot to put my chakra last time, chakra for previous jutsu deducted in this one.]

Jutsu Used:
Armadillo Skin Jutsu:
Name: Armadillo Skin Jutsu
Origin: Custom
Rank: C
Type: Defensive
Element: Doton
Range: Self
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: N/A
Hand Seals: Snake
Description: A thin, yet somewhat tough earthen armor formed by molded chakra surrounds the user, looking similar in appearance to the scales of an armadillo. This armor can block 2 jutsu of C-rank, an equivalent number of D-rank jutsu such that one C-rank jutsu is equivalent to two D-rank jutsu, and unlimited E-rank jutsu. The armor, despite its thin appearance, is actually somewhat heavy, causing a reduction in strength equal to two tiers for the duration of the jutsu as the user must apply their strength to the armor whilst wearing it (though the strength reduction lasts for the entire duration even while the armor is broken).
Release Delay Jutsu:
Name: Variant Release: Release Delay Jutsu
Origin: Custom
Rank: D (10 chakra)
Type: Supplementary
Element: None
Range: Personal
Specialty: Fuinjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: N/A
Hand Seals: (Seals for target jutsu)-Rat
Description: This jutsu involves sealing molded chakra inside the palm of one’s right hand after they have completed the necessary hand signs for another jutsu of B-rank or lower. Instead of that other jutsu going off, it is stored for later use. This jutsu can only be used if there are no other seals on the right hand. Because of the more complex nature of the jutsu, and the relative simplicity of the seal, no jutsu requiring preparation posts can be valid target jutsu. Chakra cost for this jutsu is the chakra cost of the target jutsu+10.

Whenever the user wants the other jutsu to be activated, only the right hand is needed to release the seal, taking the target jutsu out of suspension, and there are no additional costs. This jutsu cannot be cast during the target jutsu’s cooldown.

The purpose of this jutsu is not only to delay the target technique, but also make it so that only one hand (the right hand specifically) is needed to perform the seals to use the sealed instance of the target jutsu.

Jutsu Stored:
Water Style Shield Seal:
Name: Water Style: Shield Seal
Origin: Custom
Rank: C
Type: Defensive
Element: Suiton
Range: 40m, 3m radius
Specialty: Fuinjutsu/Ninjutsu
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: N/A
Hand Seals: Ox-Boar-Dog
Description: The user summons a vertical disk-shaped shield made completely out of water with a sealing symbol placed on it. The center of the disk can be up to 40m from the user at the time of creation. The disk itself has a radius of 3m, with the thin part being 1m thick, positioned as the user chooses (usually between the user and an enemy). The disk extends underground if not otherwise prevented, if the central point is lower than 3m off the ground. Once created, the jutsu can no longer be moved.

Any single jutsu of B-rank or below passes through the initial membrane of water only to be trapped inside the shield, causing the jutsu to immediately end. Jutsu of higher ranks than B pass through the shield without becoming trapped. When the jutsu ends, the water slides to the ground, imparting its seal onto the surface beneath it. Anything trapped underground will be brought up. Unsealing the seal will release any items held within it, but any chakra would have dissipated.
Referenced for use in future posts: (if anyone wants to write me spending chakra to use this, feel free)

Red gushed from the man's neck the likes of which she had only ever seen in birthday parties. He dropped down to his knees, he'd been looking up to shower others in his fluids. Confetti spilled everywhere and for a moment she just stared blankly at nothing, watching as the party continued. Everyone was so happy. Except for her. She wasn't happy. She was mad. More confetti came down, showering her, but she wasn't in the mood to party. It screamed, organs pierced. The others would scream too. They weren't happy anymore. She slammed her head on its torso, digging through the flesh over and over again. With each bang of her head, white became red. Eventually she reached inside its body, head fully buried inside the chest like a terrified ostrich. Pearly whites with bits of blue came to the open, razor sharp in form. Munch. Munch. Munch. The sounds of bones crushed and crunched, cracking through the island. The man was still alive, screaming and crying in agony. Soon she'd reach his heart. Soon he'd be no more. Not even the spider's dared to interrupt the girl and eventually the piece of meat would fall. Torso completely hollow with not so much as a bone left inside, it crashed to its back, revealing the sights to all that would lay their eyes upon the gore. Her eyes were blank, body completely shrouded in red. Though they'd see the green gleam of her pupils, they were dead inside.

Her bones retracted, her tail doing the same. She burped an eyeball from her mouth, it fell and bounced a few feet towards the other corpse she had created. It was still spewing blood, sprinkling trickles from above like falling snow. She looked up, opening her mouth in awe. She couldn't remember where she was, she couldn't place her surroundings. All she knew was that she was tired. And so she lay on her back, right beside the mangled corpses and stared at the sky. It was snowing. So beautiful. "Shiro." She mused to herself, but the snow wasn't white. Oh well. Snow was still snow. She spread her body out into the floor, opening her arms and legs up and down to form angels. There was a single tingle in her spine, another that would erupt giggles from her lips. It tickled. Her eyes looked to its source, it got stronger and stronger. She couldn't contain herself any longer. Her giggles turned into full blown bouts of laughter, and slowly she would rise from her back. She reached, arms stretched out, walking towards the direction that made the aura stronger. First she walked to the boy, skinny and chewy, but he wasn't the source. He turned away. Finally she'd find it. The aura grew thicker. It was a giant spider, too big to eat, but that was fine. She was already full. Her vision tunnelled and she saw nothing else but the spider. She tripped landing on her face, but she'd feel nothing. She was too full to stand, so she'd crawl towards it, leaving a trail of red on the ground. The closer she got the more her laughter would erupt. It was the first thing she had felt in years. It was beautiful.

She hummed the same tune she had earlier sung. Itsy bitsy spider. Eventually she reached the giant arachnid. She slowly stood up, dusting the dirt off of her clothes before she'd take light steps. Pittering and pattering. The tingle went hammering. She stretched her arms out once more, this time they'd touch the fur on the spider's back. It sent shockwaves throughout her numb body, the tingle of dread filled her with joy. She stepped closer, this time putting her bare face on its back. It felt so good. She couldn't help herself. She rubbed her face up and down, nuzzling the creature. She was happy.

Noxxi

Chaotic. That was what this was becoming. So many bandits looking to enslave various members of mankind, so many children for them to choose from and escape with. But, then she saw it: she gained a view of what had caused the hairs on the back of her neck to stand on end, the creature that had almost caused her to take flight as her human flight or fight response had kicked in some mere moments ago. It was a spider of a size she had never seen before in all of her studies and time spent in nature. It was utterly massive, and it made her wonder if there were any others like it hiding within the spiky trees on the island. How did a spider get to be so massive? Was this a trick, some random Genjutsu cast by an unknown entity, or was this real?

As pressing of a matter as this was she still had to contend with whomever was holding her that she had so nearly coughed blood up on, as well as the rejection of phlem and blood her lungs were giving her in that moment. This was not the worst of the sickness, no she had been much worse than this, but it was still a pressing matter. Better out than in, though, so she didn’t try and repeal the second coughing fit that claimed her and left her hacking up a proverbial lung while such a massive spider was now reigning terror down upon those who had been chasing her.

Then suddenly, as the second coughing fit subsided Noxxi became aware of several more individuals that hadn’t been there before and found herself wondering where they had come from and who they were: how much she missed when trying to gasp for what little breath her lungs would allot her. And they were moving toward from their position within the tree, and she felt her stomach tumble and twist as if she were on some kind of ride before they hit the ground: not nauseating, but rather a weird ticklish feeling she couldn’t quite put a name to. Being set on the ground, her back resting as comfortably as could be expected against a tree she leaned forward and coughed for a third time, though this one was at least more subdued, and left no more blood on her hand than had been there before when she covered her mouth once more.

Looking up to the one who had picked her up she found his mask removed, a simple gesture that eased her somewhat though she wasn’t quite sure why in that moment: perhaps because it gave her a face to apply to the one who had otherwise not had one. Hearing the first question that he posed to her she found herself shaking her head no before she could really stop herself from giving a response. Why was she telling him she wasn’t going to die? The gods only knew what he had planned, or how much trouble she was in only of a different sort this time, and yet she had felt compelled to ease perhaps some worry he might have that she didn’t really know existed or not. [color=blue]”No. This isn’t as bad as it gets. This isn’t even worth me going to a hospital for.”[/blue], honest words were spoken as her blue eyed gaze shifted to what was going on with the bandits whom had been after her: no sign of flinching at the bloodshed she was bearing witness to.

Then more words were directed towards her and she found her gaze shifting back to the now maskless face. Yes, she did indeed have some explaining to do, she could agree with that. ”My name is Aisu, Noxxi. I was coming back from a mission when that group captured me. They’re slavers. They had several other females with them already. They took us to this giant mansion-like house about a two hour run from here where they held us captive in a cellar outfitted with cells. I was there, from what I could tell by the light cycling through the place, for three weeks. I was born sickly, it’s not contagious, but it can get nasty. Because of the condition of the cellar my sickness flared up again, and they found me near unconscious in my cell, but the doctor they had come check us over couldn’t come by from what I overheard so they took me to his clinic. I escaped from there because they weren’t allowed in the examination room. They chased me, and that’s how I ended up here. I was hoping that if nothing else the island would scare them off, but I guess they haven’t heard about this place.” The fact that she had managed to get her story out without having to stop to cough or attempt to gasp what little air she could was good, but it didn’t stop the coughing fit that followed that had her doubling over in the next moment. Thankfully it was shorter compared to the rest, leaving her the ability to breath once more.

”Before I escaped I managed to pickpocket my ID back from one of them…”, she spoke after a short moment to refresh her lungs with oxygen. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out her credentials, more than willing to show them as proof of whom she was: a Genin very fresh from the Academy. ”They’re not the brightest group, but there’s quite a lot of them. These ten here are only half of what’s normally at the place they were keeping me and the other people they were holding captive in, and I’ve seen new faces from time to time filtering in and out of the basement.” It was about all the information she could provide save for a general location as to where she had been kept, and she hoped if nothing else it would sate the individuals curiosity as to whom she was and at least help to keep her out of trouble. As she waited for more questions to be asked her gaze shifted over once more, watching as the one who had blue blood spilling from her mouth seemed to become even more crazed.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
Seven bandits left to deal with, but the tables were taking a turn for the worse for them. Five Hunter-clones appeared on the scene to make a stance within the shadows of the dead trees, instantly giving the advantage in numbers to the shinobi on the island. From their point of view, a boy and a spider left to deal with. Then moving on towards the one that had vanished before their eyes, saved by a masked hero. One more kid joined the fray. Crawling closer, and closer. Attracted to the terror like a kid to candy, then seeking to stroke the monster like it was some cuddle bear. It'd be the last action it did before the arachnid swiftly turned about and ferociously clamped down with its chelicerae around its tiny body. Violence and venom combined, the girl's bones would get crushed under the raw pressure of the chelicerae, gradually breaking before the arachnid flung the kid back into the woods. A ruthless warning or intended to protect the kid oblivious of the storming bandits, it would not be one easily ignored.

With the Hunter-nin and two girls somewhere in the woods, it meant it was just her and Sero's invitee at this point to deal with the seven other bandits. They charged in, the boy counter-charging on his own and seemingly trusting blindly on whatever happened around him to assist him. Dangerous, as unrecognised targets could bite him in the back, and a clear sign in Haka's eyes he had much to learn about survival or hunting. Still, he would not be on his own. As he ran to tag his opponent with his won Fuinjutsu techniques, shadows coagulated to form symbols of their own. Once finished, three spiders crawled out of the summoning circle, bearing highly volatile katon chakra. Shrill screeches of agony betrayed their suffering as a slight spark of katon suddenly set them ablaze and running forward to meet the incoming pirates.

As the men hit land and split up to find their targets, one would target Nobuya in an attempt to knock him out and abduct him afterwards. Two ran up to the spider, combining their courage in an effort to face the massive wolf spider, while the four others scattered to find the kids hidden in the woods. The suicide squad found their closest targets, running up to the two bandits before blowing up as they leapt towards the faces. Two of them, not having cared for coordination in their hopes to get rid of the agony, engulfed the men at the same time, overlapping a 5m radius in fire. The burn wounds alone would suffice to strip them of their courage, while the clothes they bore caught fire and quickly chased them back where they came from - direction water. Hoping to douse themselves before they died. The last flaming arachnid ran up to the four others, hoping to catch as many as it could in its own death throes but would unfortunately not arrive at destination as a solid shot prematurely forced the arachnid to explode. Caught on the edge of its radius, the flames would leave a few minor burn wounds upon the skin of one of the bandits but leave them otherwise free to run into the woods - and most likely delivered in the hands of the Hunter-nin's positioned clones.

The white spider herself carried her bearing over the land direction the bandit dealing with the breve boy, watching him weaken his opponent to the best of his abilities. When he saw the arachnid close in, he opted for a flight option in the fight-or-flight instinct only to find himself ruefully stuck to the ground by a net-like web. Defenceless and fearful, he'd try to crawl, dig, rip his way through the chakra-enhanced web until he realised his strength didn't suffice to help him escape. Eyes fixated on him, Haka skittered closer until she could see eye to eye with him, eminent death pinning him to the floor and keeping him immobile. She'd speak again in her native language to command the horde of tiny spiders to move on the next few corpses - the two burned to a crisp as they tried to reach the waters.

Assuming the others would find their death at the hands of the Hunter-nin and the girls, Haka considered her fight done. The arachnid's white hairs grew bigger, completely engulfing her being for a moment before it'd make way to reveal pallid skin. Of the eight limbs it initially had, four remained. And eight black eyes had been replaced by two apathetic red eyes staring down the man who could not believe what he came to perceive. The former white spider-hairs now formed the long, white strands of hair of an emaciated looking girl covered in the traditional red and black attire of the Osada clan. With her 5'3" and frail looking appearance in her human form, Haka didn't look all that impressive, but there was no doubt after her interference that her looks were deceiving when it came to her actual abilities. She was, after all, a recognised jounin of Kirigakure.

"Kill him.", were the only words she shared with Nobuya, her voice remarkably calm and soft despite her ruthless approach just moments ago. She left the trapped prey for the boy to finish. His trophy to claim, and an unspoken test to see if he had what it took to kill a human being in cold blood or not. Those who set foot on spider island were fair prey to the games of the spiders; a fair chance for survival left in their hands. But those who bore the semblance of invading it; their lives were forfeit.

The girl seemed compliant. Luckily for him. Performing an interrogation here would have been near impossible, and he had no confidence in his ability to safely transport someone who was this frail and appeared ill. Perhaps it was the simple act of taking off his mask that encouraged her to spill her guts to him. The mask, truthfully, only seemed to get in the way. While he appreciated the ethos of the Hunter-nin to keep their identities secret, Chigetsu was at the point where instead he might want to start developing a reputation. The mask which he had taken off would be absorbed into his body, held behind his back as it melted into liquid and rejoined his form. If it was needed later he could call upon it.

He couldn’t help but be surprised by the nonchalant way she described her condition. His face didn’t express it, but the method in which she stated that it “isn’t even even worth me going to a hospital for” both shocked and disappointed him just a bit. It was both impressive to still be fighting like he just saw her after clearly having a serious illness, but at the same time he half expected her to drop dead on him now despite what she just said. From the way that events were going down, Chigetsu was beginning to suspect that he walked into something much bigger than his former target.

That she was an Aisu was what really surprised him. He was familiar with it by proxy, having had a decent amount of exposure to the inner workings of the Yuki. Chigetsu was aware to know that they both shared the hyōton kekkei genkai, but nothing more. The girl immediately moved up a position on his threat level. Having experienced the effects of having parts of his liquid body frozen before, he was obviously in no hurry to have it happen again. His thoughts of whether or not he should prepare a kunai were interrupted as she continued, detailing her experience of being kidnapped.

“Take it easy. You don’t have to get it all out in one breath. Just relax now. I’ll make sure you’re safe here.”

He didn’t want to imagine what they were keeping her for. The story had uncomfortable connotations. Killing and torture weren’t something that made him flinch in the slightest at this point, but what these bandits seemed to be doing was a completely different story. These were thoughts that he had never been forced to confront before. Disgust welled up in his gut. She was just a child.

He would take her shinobi identification card as it was offered to him. A quick glance would confirm her identity, unfortunately. For some strange reason Chigetsu would have prefered if she had been lying. Although, it wasn’t as if he could tell this ID apart from a fake. Either way, he choosing to believe her. Even if it could potentially cause him problems, it was a whim of his now that he wanted to follow through with. Regardless of what consequences abandoning his current objective with the Hunter-nin would become. Her ID would be handed back to her, slowly pressed into her palm.

“All of the men who followed you to this island will soon be dead. Once they are, the ones who chose to remain at the place where you were kept will follow. You're not in danger. Not anymore. I'm not a medic, but I'll do my best to keep you company until you're feeling a little bit better. After you feel like you can stand, there's a nice place on this island I can take you to, and you'll be able to rest there.” He was referencing the Osada mansion, of course. Chigetsu had more than enough sway with the occupants to bring in a guest at this point, or at least he assumed. A nice fluffy bed and warm bath would likely do this girl some good as well.

"Until then, we can wait here and watch everyone else play. Does that sound okay to you?"

The strange little Kaguya would be tossed like a fastball special, soaring through the air. The spider who threw her likely had a promising future in sport. He couldn’t imagine a sport where a spider would be allowed to play though. Perhaps there were some here on Spider Island? The girl would rag doll through the air in a perfect ark. One of the clones that Chigetsu had made would seize the opportunity, taking a few steps backwards and reaching out his arms to catch the poor girl instead of allowing her to hit the ground. Well- Calling her a ‘poor girl’ perhaps wasn’t correct. It seemed that this island had a sudden influx of strange children, although that was probably just a tradition now that Chigetsu thought about it. Immediately upon catching her he would cradle the assumed corpse in his arms and glare down through the slits of his mask to confirm her death. Of course, he wasn’t a medic of any sort. He would remain holding her in a sort of bridal style until the rest of the chaos had subsided, after which he would attempt to figure out both if she was dead or not, and who exactly this broken body belonged to.

Four others remained, matching up with the four unoccupied clones. The men who had just fled from the wrath of the exploding spiders would find themselves cornered now. On one side was the massive monster that had just killed some of their comrades, and on the other were a squad of Hunter-nin that were staring them down. Surrounded, it seemed as if they had no choice to attempt to fight their way out. Despite the reputation that the Hunter-nin had as an organization in Kirigakure, they seemed to be a path of lesser resistance compared to the massive spider. Each of the Hunter-clones would ready a kunai.

“Dammit”, one of the men would growl, cursing the situation they had found themselves in. Having watched their allies all be brutally killed they were already demoralized. Rather than fighting for a goal they were now all fighting for their lives. While it gave them an animalistic strength prompted by their fear, it also made them criminally disorganized. They weren’t as hardened as a shinobi. The fear got to them, and any training they might have had for combat evaporated. The man who had swore, a slightly portly man who looked close to middle aged, would have a bead of sweat run down the side of his head. There would be a moment of silence as the two groups stared each other down.

A sudden scream would break that. One man would break the line, charging forward. The man was like a rhinoceros, using his weight to plow forward, man catcher held at the ready and prepared to thrust at whatever was near. The three others hesitated, but took to his lead a moment after. There was a footstep and a half behind the first charging man and the three behind him. It would be enough of a pause for them to all skid to a halt, as one of the Hunter-clone would deftly evade the pointed end of the man catcher and bring the kunai up into the underside of the man’s jaw. These were men of a caliber that genin could take them out, after all. The weren’t even truly shinobi. They didn’t stand a chance against even one of these Hunter-nin, much less four. Blood would immediately begin leaking from the wound, and the man would stumble backward as his momentum was ruined. The blade penetrated up from the underside of his jaw, through his tongue and mouth cavity, and into the flesh of his upper jaw. Of course, he wasn’t dead. This wound wasn’t nearly large enough to be fatal, but the pain was intense. Without a medic around he would slowly choke to death on his own blood.

The other three would pause. Their leader, still alive, would gurgle, clutching limply at the kunai now stuck in his jaw. Even attempting to remove it would be much too painful for him to try. The Hunter-clone that had stabbed him would grasp him by the shoulders and turn him around so that his allies would be able to see the expression of his face, and the look in his eyes. They would stare. It would be only a split second until the stabbed man would be kicked forward, thrown into the group of three that watched on with open mouths. An explosive tag had been stuck to his back.

The tag went off. The resulting explosion would be heard by all in the vicinity.

Nobuya

Nobuya

D-rank
I ran forward to meet my opponents, rapidly trying to size them up to see which one I could presumably handle. None of them seemed particularly strong, but I wasn't really sure about any of their capabilities, and I didn't want to take too many risks on the island of Master Sero. Still, I had to figure out a strategy or else I'd be toast. One of the trespassers split up from the pack to approach me directly.

Guess I'll start with him.

He had a metal pole in his hands, perhaps not as refined a weapon as the others had, but an effective weapon nonetheless. With my earthen armor I would be protected, but I would still feel a lot of the force of a blunt weapon like that. We fought, glancing blows off each other as the spiders fought around us. The large white spider had managed to summon spiders of her own, though I wasn't quite sure if they were summoning animals or constructs. I hoped they were the latter as I felt the heat from them exploding on their targets. I only managed to place one of my Minor Chakra Seals on my opponent before the battle swiftly ended thanks to the giant spider webbing him up.

Suddenly though, in front of me there was no longer a giant, terrifying spider, but instead a somewhat short, yet no less intimidating woman. Her white hair and red eyes painted a very familiar picture, a master of fear staring down at the helpless prey caught in her web. Except this time, it was an actual, literal web on top of it being a metaphorical one as well.

Wow. I'd have never guessed she was human by the way she was fighting. She just seemed so natural as a spider, so effortless in her movements and attacks. I mean, I guess that could be expected of any high-level ninja, but I never have seen it to this extent before. And from the way she looks, the garb she wears, I wonder if she is from the same family as Master Sero? She could be an Unmei, but she does really look similar, especially with that white hair of hers.

Disinterestedly looking down at the man, she pointed her next comment towards me. A simple, yet ruthless pair of words that would decide the fate of the poor man before us. Her voice was surprisingly soft, yet would betray no hint of mercy or kindness towards the criminal.

"Kill him."

Yep. Definitely an Osada.

I approached the trapped bandit, looking down at the fear in his eyes. I didn't even really realize it at the time, but my expression softened into one of pity. He was a criminal who targeted a kid and found his way onto a land he had no right to be on. He was scum, he was terrible, he deserved to die. But the look in his eyes. The look in his eyes got to me. He made mistakes and continued down a path of life he almost certainly knew would bring him retribution. But it wouldn't do any good to the world to have him die in fear. This wasn't to prove a point or dissuade others. This was just a form of justice. He deserved to die, but there would be no point in having him suffer any longer. I knew that for my own sake I would once again need to provide a quick death.

"Yes mam," I responded to the shinobi in front of me. I stepped forward and made my hand signs, channeling chakra into the shape of the seal that would take his chakra right out of his body, weakening him to the point of death.

One seal.

This was all it took for my previous enemy -- and for the last criminal I executed on this island, -- but this one was resilient. He tensed up as I reached towards him, but he was still more scared of the Lady Osada than of me.

Two seals.

His eyelids started drooping as he lost his energy, no longer wide in fear, but no doubt still full of it.

Three seals.

Without even counting the one I placed on him earlier, I don't think I ever have had to use this many seals on a single target. It might not be nearly as useful in battle as I'd hoped if it took this many. Still, it's not like I had any other offensive jutsu. I mainly relied on taijutsu for my offense, despite me not at all being an expert in the subject.

Four seals.

Finally, he drifted off completely. I didn't know if he was dead or just unconscious, but the distinction wouldn't matter much longer. I took out a kunai from my pack, turning it in my hand to get a better grip, and slit his throat. I took a moment to watch the blood pour out, but soon turned to the only other human in the vicinity. Well, the only other thing that was currently taking the appearance of a human, that is. I inhaled, but paused for a moment as I realized I didn't know what I was going to say.

I mean, I should say something, right? It'd be rude not to, and I've seen what happens to people who don't measure up to a standard of politeness. But should I just introduce myself? Should I d some sort of formal respect-showing thing? Something else? I mean, I know I'm only assuming she's an Osada, but who knows if she even has the same level of care for politeness? Maybe it would just annoy her! But I have to say something, I can't just stand here!

"It's very nice to m-"

As I started to speak, the sound of an explosion bought my attention to the area to my left, where to others escaped to.

It's not over.

I raced to finish my introduction, which would now serve as a goodbye as well as a greeting.

"It's very nice to meet you, my name is Nobuya Yomechiro. Please excuse me, good Lady."

I raced towards the sound of the explosion, leaving the woman with her spiders.

Good Lady? You have a weird sense of what's proper Nobuya. I guess it's better than assuming she's an Osada, but you couldn't think of anything else? Hopefully she won't mind too much. And hopefully she won't mind that I left; I just need to make sure no one's in any danger.

I would find myself in front of a pink-haired hunter ninja I'd never seen before standing in front of the remains of the remainder of the bandits.

Confusion filling my mind, I rather thoughtlessly asked, "Everything okay here?"

Chakra 130/250:
Jutsu Used:
Minor Chakra Seal (5 times):

It was so fuzzy, the tingle in her spine. Her eyes were closed shut in comfort, a momentary second of bliss that felt oh so everlasting. Her heart pounded in excitement. Doki Doki. Though she could not feel anything else, she could feel the spider’s aura. It only heightened everything. Each synapse of her brain focused on one thing. Everything was so wonderful. She wanted the feeling to last forever, etched within her body wherever she went, but how? how? how? The source. She needed the source. It was the spider. It came from the spider. She had to take it with her always. She had to make sure it would never leave her. But H̸͐̄͜O̵̞̒W̶̦̖̅?̷̫̃̐ ̷̻̻͗H̶̢̗͆Ő̶̧W̷̠̏̐?̴͚͈̒ ̴̮̞̽H̶̢͓̏O̶̥͂W̵̯͉̕?̷̰͆͆ How could she convince it to stay? It was for the spider’s good. It was all for everyone's good right? She was gonna make the spider happy. She was gonna cherish it within her. They would be friends forever and ever. No one would separate them. N̴̻̊O̴̡̩͊ ̶̫̎Ǫ̷̧͌͘Ṋ̵͛̆Ë̶͕́.̵̛̝̍ Now, all she needed to do was E̶̙͋͌A̶͍̱̋͐Ţ̷͕̅̓ ̷̮͛͊I̴̹͒̂T̷͓̓.̴̠͗̈ "Don't worry Kumo-san, I'll treat you well~” Her voice was soft and high pitched, still lost in a haze of ecstasy. She tightened her arms around it, though her physical body still felt nothing. It was all spiritual, as if destiny had intertwined their fates and led her all the way to this one place. They were bound.

Slowly her mouth began to open as wide as she could. Everything would be so much better soon. Munch. She dug her teeth unto the spider’s behind, just where she had been nuzzling moments ago. Teeth sank into flesh, but she couldn't dig it deep enough. She didn't have enough time, the spider turned to face her. Time slowed to a still, her green eyes meeting each bead of black. She smiled. It was destiny. Her baby teeth couldn't yet bite into the spider, not even when they were razor sharp. Something else had to be done if they were to stay together. If she couldn't eat the spider, then there was only one way. It thought the same, it had to. They were destined. They were going to be together. It's mouth opened, slamming shut around her lower body. It clamped on her, cracking her bones and pulverizing them in pieces. The sounds it made would have frightened anyone else, but not her. She didn't feel pain. She didn't feel anything. Only the tingle. The tingle was all that mattered. Around the spider the tingle was strongest. The tingle was good. She could never die. So many had tried. Even she had. If it ate her, she would only love it inside it forever. They would be together. That would be fun. Very fun. She was tossed. Hurled away by the spider. It threw her to the shadows of a forest. All to protect her from the bad people. She wanted to help too. She wanted to repay the kindness. Even though she felt weak. But it was too late. She was in mid air, going nowhere. She closed her eyes. Maybe it was nap time. Everything started to dim. She screamed, her body contorting into unnatural shapes until every bone in her body fixed itself. No one would ever take her again. She balled her right hand into a fist, three sharp claws protruded from her knuckles. It was time to punish the bad people. She moved her left arm around the bad guy's neck, pulling herself closer so she could press the right fist into its throat.
